Just got word that Melanie passed away. My sister Gloria used to play this song over and over back in the 70's. Gloria passed away last year from cancer at 67. Rest in peace Gloria... rest in peace Melanie. Melanie did not need all the computers that today's "singers" need. Pure real voice!!

My sister,15 years between us, (her older) LOVED Melanie . She married when I was 8 . I was devastated . She came to me at her Wedding reception and told me shed left me something on my bed. It was her Melanie Records. She died a couple of years later. NOBODY could sing like Melanie ,but I hear my Sis ,nearly 50 years later ,every time. Thanks Melanie , im owe you one girl xx

Up until i heard of Melanie Safka's death, i only knew of the Rolling Stones version. Although the Rolling Stones version is good, i actually very much enjoyed this version. She was much more talented then some remembering her for "Brand New Key". Of course, people who followed her throughout her career most likely already knew this. I love this version. When I was a kid I had a huge crush on Melanie. I was mesmerized by her photo on the Gather Me album as an 11 year old boy. All these years later and I am now an old man at 60 and still think she is a beautiful woman inside and out. I don't know her personally but from what I gather by her singing, stories and demeanor she is a lovely soul. When she sings her voice brings me peace. I cannot say that about too many singers. The feeling behind that voice is what gives me hope that music has not been forgotten...I only hope this is played in every grade school musical class as an example of how to interpret a song lyric...Thank You Melanie for you special gift !!!!!

Melanie had (has) the sexiest voice on the planet - bar none ,I have adored her since 1970 . Most of the younger generation has never heard of her but all one needs to do is sing one line of Brand New Key and they say "oh yeah now I know ". Even now her voice is the scale by which I measure the worth of a female artist's voice and every now and then I will here a young artist who sounds a bit like Melanie and it makes me smile.

Right?!!! Her voice is so unique...I was raised listening to Melanie, since I was 5...I'm 50 yrs older...and I will never stop!!! Love her...I still have the vinyl lp of " CANDLES IN THE RAIN"....." Let your white bird smile up and the ones who stand and frown " 🕊️🕊️🕯️🕯️🕯️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🕊️🕊️
