Hey, Joy-el. I still like the product. But I don't plan on repurchasing it. I can get similar results by mixing a moisturizer, oil, and conditioner (wash out or leave-in). I think Whitney has a fine texture of very curly hair. You and I have medium textured curly hair. That makes a huge difference in how products will work in our hair. Ppl confuse the curl typing system with the three hair texture types: fine, medium, and coarse. All hair textures can have varying curl patterns (combination or mixture], in some cases it can be straight. Yes. There are ppl with coarse straight hair.
@daniellenicole19805 жыл бұрын
zheahra very true and well said! I myself have fine textured type 3 hair, and this product works amazingly well for my hair type. I don’t even have to use a leave in with this because it’s so moisturizing and my hair loves it. I think we should all listen to what our hair likes, and use what works well with it accordingly. Just because this works for one doesn’t mean it will be the same for all and that’s ok! I always say hair has a personality of its own!! Lol

Whitney doesn't have a fine texture though. I have (low porosity, fine texture, but high density), and get completely different results from her but it still works well.

You gave it a shot and that's all that matters : ) but I agree, I don't think this is the product for you, personally. It's a styling product, not a leave-in. Which means you have to be willing to manipulate your hair to get the desired affects. That's just how styling products work. I get the most moisture of my life with this product but only after I do twist or braid outs using the products as directed. My leave-ins have never left my hair feeling moisturized to this extent. While this product does work with wash n gos, you'd still have to do some styling, not do a literal wash n go. So basically you'd definitely have to add this cream, (then add an oil or gel-LCO method works best here for some reason), then massage the hair in small sections as I've seen you do in your other styling videos. In any case, I don't think you need to worry about our reactions so much haha. Besides the leave-in on the first video, it seems you used the product just fine.

I've been adopting your method of not using combs/brushes lately because I have type 4 hair too and I think that the combs/brushes are giving me split ends, because the more I use them, the worse the single strand knots get. It's honestly been working out and it's not that bad to just use my hands to separate and detangle.

Not sure what's the difference between layering and mixing the products. Isn't that the same? I'm confused.
@Micah1223cs5 жыл бұрын
Some hair types will accept certain products in various ways. Meaning you apply the product, let it sit a few mins to sink into the hair shaft and then add the next product which will then be absorbed also. On the other hand, there are products that if mixed together directly, leaves a film on the hair (this means it's not soaking in, it could be too thick...and is just sitting on the surface). Think of adding water to oil...doesn't mix well, right? But if you spritz your hair with water, work it in...then add oil, now you're in business. Layering just means working one product into the hair at a time. Hope this helps Love. Have a nice day.
@NaturalRawEssence5 жыл бұрын
@@Micah1223cs Ok, I normally just add water or leave-ins then products. I don't like to apply products on dry hair until it's blow dried and needs it to stay in its stretched state. Thanks for the reply.

My scalp also itches if any product touches my scalp. I struggle with finding an oil that doesn't irritate my scalp also so it always feels dry and i hate it.
@zheahra5 жыл бұрын
I know this may sound odd. But try the oil at the beauty supply for for natural and synthetic wigs, not the commercial stuff. Get the cheap one with the simple ingredients you know, e.g. jojoba. The one I have is light green. It's very light and absorbs well into your scalp relieving any irritation.

I agree with you using it the way YOU do your hair. If you’re not into sectioning your hair, then don’t. If down the line you start sectioning your hair then cool but I think it’s more interesting to see how people style their hair differently and what products work well no matter how you style your hair.

@nonalolagirl5 жыл бұрын
@@rachybaby72 but if you want the results that people with the same texture/type/density/porosity get, you should incorporate some of their methods. If it doesn't work the way you normally do it at first, then try it another way. That's how joy-el was when she first BC'd, she didn't want to listen to anyone and when she started to she was shocked that it worked and that she got good results on her styles. When I first got this product, I tried it the way I usually use styling creams. It wasn't perfect, so I tried it the way Whitney does in her videos and it was perfect.
@rachybaby725 жыл бұрын
@@nonalolagirl Her hair is short. My hair is short. You don't need to section when you have short hair. And she doesn't have to listen to anyone. ?? Anyway, that comment was snark disguised as nice. There was no need for that.
@nonalolagirl5 жыл бұрын
@@rachybaby72 I'm not sure what short hair has to do with anything and who was being snarky. To get the results you want, sometimes you have to do a bit more manipulation and take your time. If you don't want those results of course you, or anyone, can do what they want but that's not the products fault. She's using it like a butter, not a styler. (no one tried to tell her what to do btw????)
@KLT8285 жыл бұрын
The melanin hair cream is a moisturizer which is suppose to give moisture to the hair , if you do a twist or braid out it gives some sort of definition. I don’t think you are using it wrong because I don’t use a leave in and it does what it’s suppose to do which is giving my hair moisture. Some things just don’t work for every body so don’t go crazy wondering why it’s not working out for you.
@samantha1325 жыл бұрын
I'm TOTALLY confused with this video. I had to watch Whitney's 31.57 minute video on her products again to be sure what I'm saying is correct. She even calls it a TWISTING BUTTER! If the product is a TWISTING STYLING CREAM, shouldn't it be used to twist your hair in a style? Why would you use the cream on a fro? The cream isn't for fros. You can use it for a wash n go as well according to her other videos where she uses the products. She says to use a leave in bc while the cream has moisturizing properties it's a styler. She herself says these things, I'm just parroting her. Please don't shoot the messenger, I just don't want her products to get a bad rap bc the Cream wasn't used the proper way... Sorry! 👍🏽❤

I’m new to your channel. I am curious to know why you do not section your very thick hair into smaller parts, while applying your hair products. Seems to me, you would get better results this way. At least apply your leave-in conditioner in the shower while it is wet.

It's your hair and your time. If using this product will add more time(and products)to your wash day routine without extra benefits(that is worth your extra time)..........then this product is not for you. I am personally trying to lock down my wash day routines(depending on what needs to get done.....protein treatments, rinses, etc)on time and the products that I use. Even though there are a lot of products out there(so so many products out there....somewhere......"beneath the pale moon light"🎶🎶🎶🎶), I have to keep in mind my personal goals: to cut down time when doing my hair and spending less money in the process. By the way, your fro is looking as luscious as EVER!!!✨✨✨✨😎
