Melbourne God's squad 1973

The God's squad is an international association of Christian motorbike clubs with a mission to work with bikies of every kind, bringing the love of Christ with them. The club had its origins in Sydney but grew powerfully under the leadership of John Smith, beginning in Melbourne in 1972. This is one of the earliest film clips of those early days, shown as a Christian Television Ad.

The CTA made short clips for tv for many years. The brains behind it was the late Rev Doug Tasker. There was no charge for putting these ads on tv because the government mandated that tv stations provide something like 1 hour per week for free Christian content. When I was appointed as Uniting Church minister in Collingwood in 1983 I found a bunch of film canisters in a cupboard in the office. All CTA clips. I rescued this clip from the impending dustbin.

@@beaksofeagles I left them in the cupboard in our church office. I have no idea what became of them. I grabbed this God's Squad movie because I had a strong association with the movement in 73/4.
