Hi Alan I wasn't sure if I should ask through email or not so I'll just ask here and watch this video again 😂 I recently purchased a Shimano t curve premium rod 3-6 for flathead and pinkies, I haven't purchased a reel yet and I'm curious to what reel and line you would pick for this rod I will most likely get a shimano vanford 3000 reel for it. Just watched the workshop video about line and still have no idea what braid to choose (too many options) lol. p.s sorry for the long message
@fishingmad3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nathan, Congrats on the purcahse those rods are amazing, Im about to order one myself. I was leaning towards the 2-5 kilo version. For reel and line options i would 100% recommend either a Vanford 3000 or Twin power FD 3000. Gotta match a rod that nice with a good reel. Braid id go with 15lb something like sunline castaway, Daiwa J Braid Grand if your on a budget or Daiwa Saltiga 12 if you dont mind spending a few extra bucks. Were going to cover heaps of stuff like that in our members area to which might be helpful fishingmad.com.au/become-a-member I hope that helps and good luck its an amazing rod

@@fishingmad nice choice! They look and feel amazing can't wait to enjoy it. I decided to spoil myself and get the Shimano twin power 3000 :) insight try the saltiga 12 but I can't find it in 15lb, can only find 12 and 16lb

@oli_large3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate what’s the braid do you use?and do you prefer 6 or 8 lb as a rod that can fish salt and fresh light stuff?
@fishingmad3 жыл бұрын
Both the rods i had that day were Daiwa J Braid Grand 15lb. For the price it works really well. Diameter is reasonable and not many wind knots. The ratings of rods are strange these days all manufacturers have different rating. I was using a Savage Gear 1dfr 3-5 kilo rod. It feels much lighter. when targeting pinkies i like going lighter over heavier. ill often use my bream gear if i know there are going to be plenty in the 30s
