Melee has better net code, better ranked, bet interfaces etc., than most if not all modern games backed by multi billion companies developing 20 years after melee's release. This community is absolutely amazing in their love of the game.

To be fair, the stakes are a lot lower. Fizzi doesn’t have corporate pressure to push a product out before Q4, and can focus entirely on QOL of the aspects of netplay that don’t involve actually developing a game. Of course the trade off is he doesn’t have the resources a company would have. Either way it’s very impressive.

Big companies are super out of touch with what the fans actually want that's why. If these people can do it then other companies can too. It just doesn't effect their bottom line enough for them to give a hot damn. I'm waiting for ultimate to get this treatment.. yuzu is ok at best

And Slippi has more users than Anther ever had so that's just false. You don't need to see how many people are online when I can get in the match and literally two seconds.

All I have to do is press play and I start playing, no need to see player count when everything is instant, unlike smash ladder. Also, provide the evidence that smash ladder ever had more people. The burden of proof lies with you.

Controller, adapter, a copy of melee (real or not) and a pc. There are a ton of great videos on KZbin. Just look up "slippi setup"

All you need is Slippi and a Melee ISO, as Slippi comes bundled with the necessary emulator and such to play online. Just look up a guide to getting Slippi set up and you should be good! In terms of controller, there’s plenty of options, like the above reply said if you want to use a gamecube controller you need a USB adapter, though if you’re down to use something else just about any USB controller works just fine (or even a keyboard layout if you aren’t picky.)
