Melee Survival Hunter vs Ranged Survival Hunter

Melee hunter is def awesome. I always envisioned like a Dunedain ranger who could scout, use ranged if necessary but was lethal up close. Blizz was correct going this route.

The problem is that every time blizzared keep changing classes and how they want us to play are the reason why ppl are angry they keep changing alot for me when i played hunter sv as ranged and stayed long they changed it to melee i stopped playing the class it the complete rework ether you stay the same or become better changing class 360 is the problem with this class same with other classes tbh

I like melee survival, but also miss ranged survival. The thing you miss here is reason we don’t play MM, is b/c of aimed shot - it plays like a caster sitting in long casts. Old ranged survival in as mobile ranged and dots, was a lot of fun.

I think the big problem that the Survival spec faced in vanilla through to Cata was that the class it belonged to was built mainly for ranged combat, that's not arguable. I think they should have done a better job of allowing all hunter abilities to translate into different combat distances better, for example Multi-Shot turning into a Whirlwind when you're 5 yards from your target and depending on your spec those abilities to synergise with your pet in a unique way, for example Multi-Shot allowing your pet to cleave if you're BM. Hunter was rough at launch because it was the last class to be created so it came with these issues that they tried to work around until they gave up in Cata and gutted melee combat entirely for the hunter in MoP. I like what they did in Legion and continue to support in retail it would be the only reason for me to play that version today, to play Survival. Melee Survival could only happen because Legion had so much behind it whereas in vanilla by the time Hunter was being implemented they were running out of time and had to solve its issue down the line in TBC and Wrath.

@@LucarioTV30 If you're talking about the Survival spec then i agree, it doesn't work as ranged until you have points in Marksmanship but there's no point as Marksmanship talents are better for ranged combat and raids. Frankly any notion that Survival is a proper ranged spec until Wrath is nonsense because Wyvern Sting is a gap closer and Survival talents benefitting your ranged weapon means jack because they benefit melee too and Survival's abilities demand constant melee engagement to see active use. The only reason abilities like Raptor Strike, Mongoose Bite and Counterattack have 5-6 second cooldowns is because if they didn't you'd run out of mana; it's the mana per 5 rule, not "Now it's on cooldown i must get to ranged again!"

@@Bepples Shut the fuck up. You have no idea what you're talking about. Survival released as a melee spec and continued to support melee gameplay until they dropped it after Wrath. Yes Wvyern Sting is a gap closer, you cant even use it in combat. What the fuck do you do after you cast it though? You use another ranged ability and the sleep breaks, idiot. Why not just use Serpent Sting instead if you're just going to waste it? Feeble ranged mindset. So what if agility gives one melee AP, strength gives the other one melee AP. I bet you dont even know that Lightning Reflexes gave 3% dodge at 3/3 ranks before it was changed and guess what, it still provides dodge but also armor, melee crit and AP. If you want to spend as little time as possible in melee you play MARKSMANSHIP, where you get Scatter Shot and other talents that benefit the playstyle. If you're not in melee range going toe-to-toe with other melee then switching to range against casters you're not playing Survival. That's the point of the spec; to be able to survive in all encounters, its backbone is melee combat. Do you even know how to level as Survival? Probably not because your smooth brain can only understand Bitch Mastery. I always level Survival and most of my characters are hunters so you can fuck off with telling me what the spec is about, i live and breathe it.

I knew a survival hunter that only did Melee and was almost 2k rating back in cata. It just sounds like you guys had no idea what you were doing. No shame in it though can’t be good at everything

I hate marksman I hated the a holes that thought they're better than me cuz I was SV and Cata SV was the best version now I have an idea for SV because some like the melee I say bring back old talent trees ant at the bottom choose a talent one ranged the other melee we could name thems Windrunners arrow and Rexars blade

Ok i watched your video and i disagree on some parts. Yes, sv was melee at start but for me best time was sv in cata. Only hc sv hunters could be on top of dps charts. I was using 30 keys on my keyboard in every fight (mm was using 15). I can't count how many times i saved mages or healers in raids. I do not play wow for at least 2 years now. I even tried different specs and classes but none of them was even close to fun like ranged sv was. Maybe i will come back if they put at least half what sv had before going melee. And yes there are people enjoying melee but i would say there are more of us that wants it to be ranged. At the end of the day Blizzard do not listen to anyone and they will do what they want, soon. 😂

Im a necro surv hunter too. I like the death chakram and the shield too. Id like survival to be able to have both a bow and a 2h equipped at the same time. A throw back to vanilla and would give us more hp (also wouldnt need those god awful crossbow animations)
