this deck is going to be extremely funny when we get that new stardust dragon support and it can use gamma + hop ear to make baronne turn 1 going second. Honestly I've had some luck with it running a tri-brigade package with the splight stuff mostly in the ED, but I haven't tested it extensively. Seems like an additional layer of combo protection tho, especially going second. Also you do not have to play two Kalantosa anymore. If you hard draw it, you search Staring Contest. That's pretty much the whole reason that card exists.

So not a great showing, but it's hard to rag too hard Joe here. I will say that an inability to read Sealy/Pinny was pretty detrimental to both MBT's performance and my gray matter. On the other hand there are a lot of decision points that I don't have a ton of experience with. I don't have the means to play the deck online/don't want to play DB, so I haven't gotten enough experience with managing the interaction points. In the testing I have done I've learned that you need Staring Contest and Alpha, and that you don't need hop-eared. The deck feels less control and more combo with the new cards. You pop off during your opponent's turn and use the resources you get from the Melffy effects to kill with Borrelsword or Accesscode. Staring Contest is searchable and fixes your hand/finds Wallaby/Wally. Just fixes the innate problem of sometimes drawing Kalantosa or the extra Melffys. Alpha is just such a sick payoff. Just a very useful card for going second or for turn three. A big, searchable jerk in a deck full of cute wimps. Not great against the full Spright board (unironically because of Dupe Frog), but it can deal with Winda nicely. Hop-eared feels redundant, and it doesn't have as much synergy or flexibility as Sealy/Pinny. Hop-eared kinda counts on you resolving your Melffys in the right order to get the most out of it. Whereas Sealy/Pinny can adapt what it summons based on how many Melffys have made it back to your hand.

pretty big agree on pretty much everything said, been playtesting the deck alot and most of these sentiments match with my experience for sure. but as an aside I agree with his take that rescue cat is an insane choke that hard loses really easily, which is why I opted to take it out, theres really no need with all the other playables available to the deck.

​@@____Kakugane yeaaaaaaaaah. Even playing it in Melffy pure, like I am, Rescue Cat is bad. It just loses to actually every relevant handtrap. I'm gonna bite the bullet and try out different starters in testing. Only reason I haven't is because Cat can get Kitt into rotation, which lets you get into the tri-brigade engine while simultaneously making a Melffy Xyz. Only other worthwhile card that can do that is Obedience Schooled, which is so much better. So, yeah, I could use some advice regarding what starters and extenders to use instead.

@@nebbythewhale6450 the splights themselves kinda remove the need to play obedience school(the beast lock sucks a lot if you wanna play splights so its auto dropped from most M/S builds), rescue cat and t.brigade, but I'm still testing so my opinion may change, testing one with the T-brigade subengine and one without. so far T-brigade is nice because if you open kitt u then have 3 simultaneous lines that your opponent needs to react to, but if u open nerval it kinda sucks. without the line you have more room for equalizers, or HTs whichever you prefer. I'd still probably opt to play kerass with or w/o the full line just because having an ez way to extend using ferrijit feels so fluid + prompts responses from the opponent that wont outright kill your ability to continue playing. the only Issue I've found is that its kinda hard to avoid nib.

I'm starting to realize that Spright is actually just the new Tri-Brigade(not surprising for an Albaz lore archetype, I mean look what Despia did for Fusions, which Visas archetype Tearalaments is doing now). Not overwhelmingly powerful so much as overwhelmingly popular to splash into a bunch of otherwise underwhelming things, with maybe two actually busted options to work with. This mix probably falls into "Harpie Tri-Brigade" tier, which was not great but is at least playable if you're good. The most meta represented decks don't require you to be good, but always remember that top cut isn't always taken by the most represented decks. Just side the out /copium

I fucking love melffy to death and immediately noticed the synergy with splight and im so glad its getting boosted by joseph, its crusty but you can try play desert locus along with accel synchron stardust dragon into stardust dragon into satellite warrior for a big beefy boy that'll wipe the field, id also recommend playing fenny over pony as it can let you use the kalantosas you inevitably brick on. Theres also a myriad of kinda bad melffy spells to play off of melffy of the forest if you want, hide and seek helps for grind game if you ever dump a bunch off something like forest and it also protects a little, tag was good for a while but youre not really going into forest off of two lvl 2s but it could help and staring competition can help look for wally if you open with a different melffy and can lower atk and def in the bp (albeit not by alot)

You really need to test the weirdness that is Naturia-Ishizu. The fact that thing actually works together....well might I add. Inb4 the same people go "Ishizu carried the deck" like get a life lol. Ishizu gave it the speedo but the Naturia half (as its literally 15 main deck cards) provided the constant negation. Like who gives a damn if another engine sped it up....Naturia are slow asf (prior to their new support).

The effect of Smashers for Splight might be bad, idk if that's the case or not, but it's not a bad card for Springans and Therions. Springans get an Emergency Teleport and Therions get monster reborn on a quick effect. Not a bad card altogether if you ask me.

Smashers is played for similar reasons Offerings to the Doomed sees play. A neg one is worth it if you can break tempo hard enough. In relation to the Mine strats it's seen as an out to those, and in the mirror breaking an opponent's Gigantic with it when they leave Red as their main form of protection for it from Ghost Ogre and Veiler can be devastating.

As someone who plays Springans, Smashers is a card that helps the deck get a Springans straight from the deck. It's easier to go into Rockey, get a Sargas out to pop shit on the opponents turn. Can help extend into more Link or rank 4/rank 8 plays depending on your build. What's really cool about Smashers that you can banish spent in archetype Spells/Traps (like Watch and Interluder which do nothing in the grave) instead of losing a monster in hand. Worst case scenario you have to play Smasher in hand if its your only way to make a play.

pretty mid list imo, competent enough for someone picking it up spontaneously for sure. but theres about 3 different solutions to easily fix this deck into something way more relevant/smooth. focus more on splights, which is what most do, a lot of the ocg decks and even the variants people are testing over here only play like 4 maindeck melffy's. remove clutter from the deck, a big part being the Rescue cats, the melffy continuous spells are decent one ofs that unbrick most hands. no kerass-ferrijit line kinda sucks and forces the deck to have a more serious choke but more consistent opening so personal pref i guess. biggest offense though is playing R.Cat but not playing the kitt line.

So one of the cards not in the list was Melffy Staring Contest. It's a continuous spell that lets you put a beast on the bottom of the deck to add a Melffy. Just a nice in theme way to put away your bricks and fix your hand.

@@OsirusHandle Are we talking about the same card? In a pure list I'd play it at three, but here you can just play the one because Melffys of the Forrest can search it when you need it. Contest is just better in situations you'd want to use Fenny. Also, you can just kill you opponent on turn three. Getting into Borrelsword or Accesscode isn't very hard on turn three. Just need Elf to make it through the turn.

@@CyberMongoose My friend, that would mean there's at least four cards in your deck that aren't just dead on draw, but make the entire melffy part of the deck dead. (Puppy, Catty, Sealy/Pinny, Tosa.) Just play the Frogs if you want to trim down the engine that much. The point of playing the Melffys is to have different interactions than a standard Spright deck. Unfortunately that means you have to play a bigger second engine than the Frogs.
