A friend at a record store (yes that long ago) played me this song off a brand new release/artist. I remember being a bit stunned at the fierceness of Melissa's singing (of course I bought the album). A great, lasting singer who can still rock with the best of them.

@@aus80srockradio94 I’ve kinda figured out (finally) that they put out different mixes of the song. The version on the original album is very tame and boring. The single mix is another story - they really cranked up the guitars and made the song sound much more dynamic. On Apple Music (for example) that mix can be found on various greatest hits albums. Much closer to the sound I remember from back in the day.👍 Odd that they aren’t labeled as “ Single Mix” or something similar, but whatever. 🤷‍♂️

I was in college when this was released The first time I heard this song we went out to lunch down the road. One the way back to college from the bar this song came on the radio. Melissa was making appearances at radio stations and she sang this song in the studio. We were both late for class because we sat in the car and listened to the entire interview because we knew that she was going to be big. The prof was ticked that we were 10 minutes late to class. I bought the cassette after class was over before I even went back to my apartment 4 hours later.

This is the second video I produced for Melissa in 1988 with famous Music Video Director Tony Van Den Ende on London's Vivid Productions. (no not the porno house!) We shot in a club call Mississippi Nights in St Louis and a club in Lexington Kentucky of all places. At the time actor Lou Diamond Phillips (LaBamba)was a cose friend. I thought it was a great time to bring a female Assistant Director since there were not many so I brought Lou's wife Julie Cypher. Well the rest is history!
