Melissa, I don't travel much, so when I booked a 7 day trip for this summer I started freaking out about packing a suitcase. I just spend probably 2 hours watching KZbin video on how to pack and I have to say, yours is one of the most helpful! Thank you so much and wish me luck!

Thanks for this! I tested this method for a 8-day trip to San Diego. I parred down my wardrobe to a 4 light-weight dresses, a black jacket, a black sweater, bathing suit, undercrackers, jewelry, 2 scarves, vibram running shoes, lulu gear for running... and it all fit!

I've found it easier to pack reverse how you did. I still put the shoes on the very bottom, but I put the little things, like dry toiletries, makeup and flat iron in the zip up compartment. I prefer flat folding packing because I plan out my outfits and just reach in day by day for the outfit I need, especially if I'm in a different place multiple days/nights. Just another idea. I also conserve space by using products that will double duty, I've learned to always bring argon oil, it's uses are limitless! Also philosophy body wash/shampoo/perfume/shaving cream. I add moisturizer to my concealer and it's just like foundation! Also ELF has these paper sheets that you can use for blush, bronzer, highlighter, ect. Protect powders by putting a cotton pad in the compact. Also after that steamy hot shower, use the hotel blow dryer on a wrinkled item, pulling it taught and helps get wrinkles out great!

Your packing tips are the most sensible I've ever seen on youtube and not tricked up with a lot of nonsense about the brands of clothes, makeup etc. Just basic facts. Here's a tip for you. When you iron silk and use the pillowcase always remember to set the iron to cool too!!!!!

I often travel with hand luggage only to save on flight cost and I find I get to cram much more in my rucksack than a small suitcase. The beauty of rucksacks is that when they force you to check it fits within the guide you can always make it fit. I probably pack double the amount I could with a suitcase.

I just discovered packing cubes (I got mine on eBags) and they have CHANGED MY LIFE. Granted I do have 2 little kids so when my family travels I have to pack both their stuff, plus mine, and have my husband add his. The cubes keep everyones stuff contained and so amazingly easy to unpack and repack later. Plus I bought separate colors for everyone so it's so very easy to manage now. Do try them!

Excellent video. Personally, I leave my toiletries and make-up 'to 'pack the morning of.... I have a special carry-on bag to pack these items in. After I shower on the morning of and as I used each item, toothbrush, toothpaste, makeup, eyebrow brush, deodorant, lotion, etc., I pack in my 'special carry on--and, I 'don't miss anything 'that way--and, I have my basic needs covered in case of a 'layover, delay or if my luggage gets lost. Basically, if I have my toothbrush, toothpaste, eyeliner, eyebrow brush, lotion and blush, I can 'weather any travel storm or landing.

Just an update.....Im not sure why everyone freaks out about clear plastic bag. TSA doesn't care what color you bottles are as long as they are TRAVEL size, under 3.4 oz and totaling 100 total oz combined together. I wish people would update the whole quart size zip lock bag rule on youtube. All TSA cares about is travel size items, here in the States, and also overseas in Europe. I packed three quart size bags in my make up/travel bag and was perfectly fine. Just wanted to share incase people watch this.
@theparadoxofourage9 жыл бұрын
ArrianC. really hope no one reads this and takes your advice. Having flown from both Heathrow and Gatwick recently I can tell you that both airports very much stick to the 1 quart size clear bag rule.
@LoveMyZLightBody9 жыл бұрын
GlassSlippersAreJustUncomfortable Well I just flew from AUS to NZ and into Heathrow (last week) and no one gave me hassle or trouble about using one or more quart size baggies. Like I said, the TSA workers are worried about the liquid size bottles we fly with. I saw a girl get half of her items tossed in the can at Heathrow because she traveled with large items that go over the 3.4 oz size. So of course, you will most certainly get stopped, have to open your bag up, and you will have to throw your items away. I packed my shampoos conditioners, all my liquid foundations, and body wash with me, and I never got stopped. I placed my nicely packed small containers in 3 separate quart size bags and I was fine. Just as long as the liquid are in the small 3.4 oz containers and placed inside a zip lock bag then your good to go. I was even complimented on how organized and small my travel items were.
@theparadoxofourage9 жыл бұрын
I never travel with over 100ml bottles and all in a preorganized 1l bag but out of curiosity I asked flying from Stansted in August whether you're allowed to travel with more than 1 bag and they said categorically no and all of the signs I've ever seen have said 1x 1l bag per person so not sure who at Heathrow would have told you it was fine but I personally wouldn't take that as working in the future.
@LoveMyZLightBody9 жыл бұрын
GlassSlippersAreJustUncomfortable Of course they will tell you categorically no, if they didn't they would not be working for TSA. I personally have never been asked to throw away my second ziplock bag, so I'll continue to pack my 3.4oz travel size liquids with me. Maybe they don't care with someone who has Pre-check and Global Entry...who knows....All I know is that my travel size 3.4oz liquids have worked for me, and I used two quart-size zip lock bags. So with that being said, if I do get stopped and asked to throw my second ziplock bag away Ill be sure to update you. :) I should know in October.

Be sure to get to the airport quite early. You want to board as early as possible. Once the overheads are full, they WILL put all carry ons in the hold!!!!! This is some great stuff. Some of these things we do, sometimes we even do a combo of fold and roll. Sadly, we both have so much medication that it takes up two more makeup or shaving kit sized bags! But we can use a medium suitcase for two people for a week, so not bad! (My carry on also holds my laptop, it's an awesome rolling bag!)

I am so confused when it comes to the TSA liquid 311 rule! I'm thinking of traveling for the first time in about 16 years, back then I was a kid and it was before 9/11 so all these new rules have me very scared of making a mistake. It says on their website that each liquid you bring can't be more than 3.4 oz and each liquid has to be transferred into those small plastic travel containers and all this must be in a plastic clear zip bag. One plastic bag per person. But what about my liquid makeup? my foundations and concealers, primers and perfumes? Do I have to stuff them in the same zip bag as my shampoo and conditioner to make sure that everything and anything that is liquid is in only ONE bag? Also, can my liquid makeup stay in their own store bought packaging or must they also be transferred to small travel containers? I also see that you put the rest of your non liquid makeup in clear zip bags and stuffed it in your carry on as well...Is that an obligation? or can I just keep my makeup in my normal makeup bag inside my purse like I do everyday? and another thing. Do you just leave the bag with the liquids inside the carry on and let the security person open it up and check for themselves or am I obligated to take the bag out of my carry on and place it on the screening bin? So much stuff to remember I'm so confused.
