1. Get your nutrition right. 2. Begin strength training ( I say work with a professional like Melissa, so not to hurt yourself). 3. Drink water. 4. Do not drink alcohol, especially for us women over 40/ only use on special occasions. 5. Do things you enjoy/ put yourself first for healthy body and mind. Say no. Relax and de stressing. THIS INFORMATION IS GOLD. USE IT OR LOSS IT. KEEP MOVING TO MAINTAIN YOUTH. KEEP WALKING EVERYDAY…YOGA, PILATES. What I do? I hike, walk, journal, take excursions in my hometown, enjoy cooking my meals, coffee conversations with good friends.❤❤❤❤❤

Hi there, Melissa. I'll be 61 this year. I'm also a great grandmother. And as a personal trainer. I workout. I look so young. I have great difficulty convincing people I'm this age. My friends refused and can't understand why I'm not aging. The answer is strength training and a good natural diet. Protein, good Carbs and Fats.UK

I'm 47 sistèr. And I roller skate it rmwas a reset. I was in a deep depression due to lack down with no job and low self esteem and other things. It took a tole on me to the point that I they I looked undignified. Skating revealed so much to me about my self. And Over a year in and I'm dancing again my skate skills are improving. I have no choice but to stretch before, so that is also making a huge difference. Stretching strengthens me. So yes, skating has been a game changer. And I'm feeling youthful with it.

I've just discovered your channel today. I'm 54 and people think I'm in my 30s or early 40s. I've never been a drinker, so that'd a big plus. But what I've been doing on and off for the last 15 yrs or so is a raw vegan eating lifestyle. It's an effortless way for me to loose and/or maintain weight loss. And the health benefits are endless.

I gained tons of weight having my babies late in life, then lost my husband to cancer at 52. I ballooned to 209 Lbs. I needed to figure out how to stay around for my kids. I went carnivore and lost 63 Lbs. I continued at the gym, as I was raised being athletic. I also try to get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. I go to bed at the same time and rise at the same time. I am healthier than in my 40's, I'm 61 now.

I appreciate this video. I’m currently drinking alcohol everyday sometimes. I know I can stop but I use it to unwind after work . Then you mentioned it interfering with sleep and yes it does and I didn’t realize that……it’s time to scale back ❤ thank you 🙏🏽

I used to do this because I associated "tranquility and peace" it was a lie, afterwards I couldn't sleep well because my body needed water to hydrate, mornings I needed make-up... Ans so on, for 1month now I changed completely, and it started with one day at a time, so I didn't want to give my brain what he wanted and started to think off my body more, stomach, kidneys absolutely, I don't want to drink not even when I go out because I know what will haoeoin my body. I CHOOSE ME!! Sending you much love.

You will feel so much better stopping alcohol. It takes a period of time to fully quit but once you do you surprisingly feel joyful.
@kristy_GT Жыл бұрын
I hope you cut alcohol out completely because while you feel like it'll help you unwind after work and that you can stop anytime but just don't want to, then your brain begins to change and chemically depend on you. Before you know, you are no longer in control...I learned the hard way, I speak from experience, and like Melissa said, " you'll wonder why you ever consumed it" once you cut it out❤
@yinyangcalmness178 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for this reminder regarding alcohol. I quit drinking 8 years ago. I drank wine mostly and I couldn't understand why my stomach kept bloating shortly after drinking it. I stopped because I didn't like that feeling. Years later I expressed my reasons for not drinking to a friend. And she mentioned that wine has an excessive amount of sugar and other habit forming drugs added to it. I am so glad that I have a headstart on life by removing alcohol. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. You are a life changer for me at 47 years of age. 😘 Blessings to you.

Thank you Melissa for that final comment of 'letting go of the things that no longer serve you'. That's a big one me as no one has been 'very excited' about my endeavor to stay healthy. Having a medical background I have always been a people pleaser. Now that I'm a senior citizen I've had to learn to put myself first and that has been the most difficult aspect of my conversion to a healthier life.
@MelissaNeill4 ай бұрын
I’m so glad that message resonated with you. It can be tough to prioritize yourself, especially when you’ve been a people pleaser. Remember, putting yourself first is not only important for your health but also sets a positive example for those around you. Keep embracing your journey-it’s worth it! 💪

Thanks Melissa, I started watching your vids last July. I'm 67 and strength train three times a week, plus walking a couple of times. The Best thing I did for reversing my age was to stop drinking alcohol 28 months ago. I agree, it serves no purpose and shortens your lifespan. People need to read its dangers and how it causes one in three cancers x

Great advice, as always, Melissa! I'd just like to add that sometimes medication for depression is necessary and folks should talk with their docs about that. At the same time, I wish more docs would prescribe exercise (whether meds are needed also, or not) because it's SUCH a powerful anti-depressant!
@SqueakyBarbarian Жыл бұрын
Thank you for saying that. Exercise and good nutrition and anti depression medication can all work wonders if nutrition and exercise are not fully helping.

Melissa, you are an inspiration. 💕 I'm 45 and 15 years ago, I dealt with a lot of depression and anxiety...As a result I put on many pounds and let myself go, bc I was just trying to keep my head above water, so to speak. I'm finally healed emotionally and spiritually and I'm ready to get control of my physical health. My question is, can I still train heavy if I need to lose almost 100 lbs, or should I focus more on nutrition first and once I lose some weight start lifting? I'm overthinking a bit. 😅 Anyway, thanks for inspiring us older women, it means so much. Keep up the great work!💖
