Adding Zippers to Couch Cushions

Super duper useful. The less drycleaning, the better off we all are. You dealt with the fraying too, leaving that bit out made them cheaper but you gave them a real upgrade, perfect when you have more time than money to spend on stuff! All the unsustainable garbage being made needs to be fixed, and you did, bravo !

@@Mellysews i get it and YES, this kind of product comes in very reasonable to rediculous prices, if you're resourceful you can really save alot and put that toward your creativity in other projects! Being able to make, alter, repair etc was once an imporrant part of anyones education. That tradition is gone but the interest is huge these days, and it's a nice feeling to be autonomous and finish projects, and have things done the way you like them. We're all sick of the waste and mindless consumerism. I'm sure I'll use my inspiration from this to make a new seat cushion with removable fabric for my antique kitchen banquette /sofa. The fabric is old and worn but the zipper is fantastic (!) in brass and linnen with makers mark (turn of last century)! I just had a look! ☺️ 👌

OMG, I never imagined that this would be possible! I've been sewing since I was a kid, but this solution never occurred to me. I have a screened porch and my chairs are the exact blue and beige of your cushions. It's amazing how much dust and dirt they can accumulate even on a covered porch. Each spring I clean them as best as possible, but after several years, they're looking pretty sad. I can't wait to try your technique and get those things washed so they can look as pretty as they did when they were new. Thank you SO much for sharing this. ♥

That is such a good idea! Usually I try to find cushions of any sort that already have the zips in them but of course sometimes not always possible but this is a great tutorial for when you may have to replace a cushion cover at sometime of its life.
