I made one for my mom and she loved it. I made one for a friend of hers, and then for a couple of the parents of my friends. Then I made a flock of them and gave them to a low-income nursing home. They're great!

Great idea to make the pouch nearest to the person segmented so stuff doesn't get bunched together. Great tutorial!

Great, easy to follow tutorial. If you press the seams open before you turn the fabric inside out, it will make it easier to roll the seams for top stitching. Hope you understand what I am saying. I love all my KZbin teachers.

I'm here for the same reason -- I want to make an apron for the walker for my upcoming knee replacement. I need something that looks sorta badass though, which is why I decided to sew my own. 🙂

Gave me the idea to make one for a kitchen chair back. None of the elders in my family use a walker. It would be great for arts and crafts or embroidery supplies and also this video gave the idea for one to hang on the head rest of the front seat for traveling (not impeding the front passenger seat of course).

Thank you! I made my first one today (and yesterday as it took me longer than you 😆) and it’s awesome 😊 I used denim as the heavier weight and a brown quilting fabric for the lighter weight for a man 😊 thank you so much for sharing this! ❤️

@@Mellysews do you have any suggestions for fabric to use (not the liner)? I’m making some for donation and looking for inexpensive options 😊 the denim worked great, just thinking $ down the road 😊
@raissadingmann5823 Жыл бұрын
I am really confused,the pattern says to use a heavier layer of fabric and then a second fabric that could be a decorative cotton.however the video and the pictures on the pattern clearly shows you using two pieces of cotton…. Which is correct or necessary?
@michelledechaine3259 Жыл бұрын
@@raissadingmann5823 I’ve been using denim and duck canvas or duck cloth for the outer. Both seem very durable for the bags. I’m not sure which she used, but I’m getting great feedback on mine 😊

I have quite a few physical handicaps. I do sew when possible. I use a cane, two canes, a walker, a rollator, and a wheelchair depending on my mobile ability. I will be making this for my walkers as it will come in extremely handy. My rollator has a basket so I'm good with that one. What I have not been able to find is anything to hold stuff instead of putting things on my lap when I am confined to the wheelchair. I've come across things to make and have seen things for sale that can hang on the back of the wheelchair but I can't twist enough to use it. Any ideas for something to make that I guess I would have to sit on and have it hang between/behind my legs would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would be ever grateful for any ideas.
@Mellysews3 жыл бұрын
I think if you made this, without the ties, you could put one side on your seat and have the other side with pockets hang down below your legs.
@tracymclaughlinholmes6773 жыл бұрын
@@Mellysews true. I could make one "side" a cushion. I make wheelchair shaws for the VA and donate them. I'm thinking wheelchair cushions with pouches would be useful there as well. Thank you!

Thank you, Tracy, for that question. I have an elderly woman I take care of. Her wheelchair has a pocket in the back. When she sits it's too tight to put anything in and she can't reach it herself. This is the PERFECT solution. And thanks to Melly, we have the answer. Thank you both!

I am not a professional sewing. So, I am confused about something. Once you fold in your pockets. Wouldn't that make the top piece shorter than the backing? I am not understanding how it makes the pockets. Help and thanks. 🌻🌻🌻

Thank you for this fun pattern and instructions. I don't have home deco canvas, but I do have a lot of good quilt shop cotton. Do you think I could do a nice job on the walker caddy using the fabric that I have? Should I do anything else to it to make it more sturdy? I do have some various interfacing available. Thank you for any advice you can give =)
@Mellysews2 жыл бұрын
Quilting cotton alone might be too thin to stand up to the wear and tear something like this gets. I would at least interface all of it with heavier weight interfacing.
