Ok so i made timestamps for every symphony here 9. 0:07 - Brahms: Symphony No. 4, I. Allegro non troppo 8. 1:11 - Dvorák: Symphony No. 8, II. Adagio 7. 2:09 - Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 1, II. Adagio cantabile 6. 2:55 - Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 4, II. Andante con moto 5. 3:55 - Berlioz: Symphonie fantastique, II. "Un bal" 4. 4:56 - Mahler: Symphony No. 6, Andante moderato (This probably is my favourite slow movement in any symphony) 3. 6:15 - Beethoven: Symphony No. 9, III. Adagio molto e cantabile 2. 7:26 - Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5, II. Andante cantabile 1. 9:18 - Rachmaninoff: Symphony No. 2, III. Adagio (This is my second favourite slow movement, behind Mahler 6's Andante moderato. Also is that Gergiev with a baton? That's quite a rare sight lol)

The Rachmaninoff’s is my absolutely favorite. The 1st movement theme is so amazing and the 3rd mov. when he creates the climax step by step, layer by layer and then the big climax comes it’s so damn beautiful. Rachmaninoff is the GOAT

Great choices as usual. I love all these pieces. Rachmaninoff 2nd, 3rd movement is one of the most beautiful melodies ever written. It became the melody of an Eric Carmen's song from the 1970's, 'Never going to fall in love again'. Thank you, we need beautiful music in these days of isolation.

@@ClassicalDavid Indeed, I have read some years ago that Carmen is a huge Rachmaninoff fan, and his love for Rachmaninoff shows in his songs "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" and "All By Myself", which I love both.

Thank you dear Kim for sharing these sweet and gentle moments from some of the great symphonies ! Although I have not been a concert-goer for many years, it is sad to reflect that listening to orchestras in the flesh may be a thing of the past, together with many other kinds of public gatherings. Even when and if the peril passes, many people will not have confidence in attending such events, so that the financial survival of musicians will be in danger for a long time. It is a good thing that KZbin and channels like yours are there to bring us these wonderful musical experiences. Have a great weekend ! Warm greetings, Paul

love this video, thank u Kim - of course one could have a thousand or so more - as a composer myself, i'm going to make a very outrageously bold statement - i believe almost anyone can compose great melodies - i would be willing to wager that almost everyone has at one time or another caught themselves humming something that was wonderful and original - i think it is so important to stop putting other human beings on pedestals and to label them a genius - i don't believe in genius - there is a source of inspiration and greatness in the universe that BELONGS TO EVERYONE - it's not a special membership only club - the source does not care if you came from an educated family or not - as little babies all of us can do VIRTUALLY NOTHING - but in no time we learn to WALK and TALK before we even go to school - NO SMALL FEAT ! ! !

Ah....Brahms in the opening was a wonderful greeting!! I miss you Kim! I have listened to this several times now over the weeks and finally taking the time to make a proper comment! You always choose the most wonderful performances first of all, brimming with life and love! I am a huge Rachmaninoff fan, so really easy to get drawn in by that and was my favorite. However, I am also a big Tchaikovsky fan, so I must say those selections came in a close second, but the other selections were also very moving and beautiful. In recent years, I became more of a Berlioz fan, too and this was a great selection! Beethoven writes melody lines that are so musically poetic, that we are drawn right in, too. Thank you for showcasing such beautiful art!! I hope that you and your family are well during these crazy times!! Feels so good to be here again :-) Much peace and love, ~Jackie
