A melody has thought put into making each note flow into the next, which is why it sticks to your head. Shredding is literally playing a lot of notes in quick succession in a way that both looks and sounds cool. The difference between the two is that shredding is often too fast to even process how many notes there are in each section, let alone how they flow into each other. It's like comparing Eddie Van Halen and Kurt Cobain: both are cool as fuck, but they're clearly different in the way they approach music.

I think your melodic solos need a healthy does of vibrato, pinch harmonics, bending, and slides. Also, you used a very similar sweep on three of the shred solos. I for one couldn't do any of that stuff as I am mainly a drummer, but this is stuff I have noticed being around my brother who has played guitar for over 15 years. MKz VL well playing melodically takes a deeper understanding of the entire instrument entirely. You can learn licks and scales and fun tricks, but that’s just playing notes.
