It would be nice to show them how Venice was built as they seem quite curious about how it sits on the water.

I used to live near Venice and went there often. What they are not showing is that there are a lot of pedestrian streets that people can walk on and a lot of bridges. Most people don't take boats to get around Venice.

Venice is amazing. It's one of my favorite places out of all I've visited. The city was built in the swamp using millions of tree trunks which they sunk down into the mud . This created the foundation for the city. The main mode of transportation, besides boats, is walking. You walk everywhere and there are estimated to be over 400 bridges. Like the rest of Italy, the city is filled with incredible art and sculptures. This place is just Beautiful!

The city of Venice has been built on a muddy lagoon, many centuries ago. Compression is slowly forcing the city to sink. Also, the increased motor boat traffic adds to the constant mechanical surge of sea water against the structures. Fumes of petrol and other oily substances add to this problem. In times not so long ago, traffic was entirely restricted to Gondolas, powered by humans without aid of petrol or other oily substances - only, in a slow manner. Not causing too much disturbance in the water.

The water does cause structural damage to the buildings. There are specialist teams that inspect just beneath the waterline for signs of erosion and carry out maintenance work on a regular basis. It's an ongoing process.

Its more beautiful in reality, unlike a lot of places which are not as lovely as the cleverly made videos and photos. At night especially when the moon is up and the lights of the ships reflect in the waters....oh my, it is so pretty and you think its a beautiful.dream And then there is the archifecture. Inside the buildinvs and churches is awe inspiring. Many houses have couryards or shared green gardens and there are some public parks. There are lots of museums which house some of the most beautiful paintings and sculptures. The photos of which are good but when you see them in real life they inexplicably bring you to tears.

A fact about Venice that I love: Once back when Venice was still a Merchant Republic, some nobles got mad with the government and tried to overthrow it. They did this by trying to start a riot (at like 6am in a storm) which didnt work because they were making people so angry that citizens opened their windows to shout insults and throw things at them. This lead to one little old lady, Signora Giustina Rossi, sticking her head out her apartment window and chucking her stone mortar at the conspirators and hitting one in the head killing him instantly. This made the other conspirators realize this was a terrible plan and they gave up. As a reward Signora Rossi asked that she be allowed to fly the Venetian flag on feast days and that her landlord never raise the rent on her apartment as long as the Republic endured. You can find a bust of the great Signora on the arch that leads to calle del Cappello Nero

I can't believe they didn't describe why and how it was built! Or show any gondoliers! Or the carnivale! I grew up in Italy, been to Venice a few times. I have a painting hanging on my bedroom wall I bought from an artist in the square in the late 80's when I was a teenager, along with couple murano glass chandeliers, 2 hand made Carnivale papier mache masks and a few other little what nots. They had to drive logs down until they hit bedrock in order to build a stone building, a church. They dismantled a church on the mainland and reassembled it on top of those driven wooden posts. That's how they build on it. They went to the swamps to avoid invaders. Italians cal it Venezia rather than Venice. If you ask them where venice is they won't know. Florence is Firenze. Lol

This was great to watch! The looks on all 3 of the guys faces were just priceless! These types of videos seem to bring out lovely smiles and a real enthusiasm from Shehzad, much more so than the food reactions! But, I do think a lesson on canals or canal systems would be a good thing for them, because I think they just assumed that Venice is some strange magical city that somehow miraculously grew out in the middle of the ocean. lol I think one of the things I love most is their eagerness to learn about everything outside of their own villages and small cities. I imagine it ignites a very strong desire for them to someday have the opportunity to visit these "far-away lands". Also, just for the record, Venice has 4 seasons that can range from 3C in the Winter, to an average of 23C in the Summer. Spring (leading into Summer) and Fall (also called Autumn, leading into Winter) are somewhere in between. I haven't been lucky enough to visit Italy yet, but I've heard that Venice is somewhat humid year round. I hope you continue to show the team videos of different places around the world, because even those of us who know of their existence, don't always get the chance to see them up close like this! Much love and abundant blessings to everyone at the channel! 💛🕊🙏🏻

Too bad this video doesn't narrate. It would be better if there was more of a tour guide feel to it if not a full documentary on the history of Venice. Still love that they get to see the ingenuity of humans in what can be achieved under what seems impossibility in a way they might not ever have known.

The Venice video focuses too much on the Grand Canal and yet doesn't even show the Rialto Bridge. There are lots of smaller canals in Venice and hundreds of little bridges, and also plenty of streets and squares. You don't need a boat to get around Venice.

I’ve heard that Venice has a sad history, that it is a sinking city that continues to sink into the sea, little by little, year by year. I’ve been told that many of the houses there are built on top of even older houses that have sunken completely under water long ago. I have no idea how many stories of buildings have been lost to the sea in Venice, but if it still sinks to this day, I imagine building more floors on top of the current buildings would continue on. It goes to show how much the residents love their city, to continue battling against the inevitable instead of abandoning their homes and its history to the sea. Quite romantic if you ask me. Feel free to correct me if I am mistaken. I can only imagine scuba diving in Venice would be a fascinating and somber experience.

Yes, that's all most people know about Italy...pizza, pasta, food not that it has the #1 history and achievements, inventors, made western civilization and America and even today a top 10 economy, military, trading nation and wealthiest citizens. Italians themselves are mostly culprit, when asked they're always spreading the breaking spaghetti and pineapple on pizza "horrors." Just ridiculous.

Venice is on the Adriatic sea in the north of Italy. In winter it gets cold there and, since there's so much water, also damp (which makes it feel colder than it actually is).
