It's not just an apple. The Pokemon itself is a wyrm that inhabits an apple. It plays off the "worm in an apple" trope, but it's a wyrm instead of a worm, hence the Dragon typing. It would be nice if people did basic research instead of blindly criticizing good designs.

It’s really hard to design new ones. Also, pokemon now starting to look like digimon due to the design of pokemon. At some point, you will run out of ideas. Look at digimon for instant. I don’t follow digimon but I don’t think it has 8 generations like pokemon does. It’s ok but like at least get better graphics + animation. Literally many animations in this gen are from the previous gens. If you cut the dex in half, make the animations look better. I was on team Sobble, but then I saw its final evolution and absolutely despised it. I couldn't stand Scorbunny or Raboot, but I loved Cinderace's design. I toughed out Scorbunny and Raboot even though I wanted to box them the whole time and Cinderace was even better than I expected. I named her Cinderella.

Yep... And Scorbunny evolution looks exectly as something that would have fire/Electric type.... But i personally thing that all starters had a double typing jusst based on their apperance (grookey evolution looks like grass/ground and sobble is water/Dark), but gamefreak i think scraped the idea because they wanted to have neutral way... Cause lets just say it... Lately they got many raging fans just from the dex and other stuff, so they didnt want more hate to themself and rather chose the peacefull way where the starters are all pure fire water and grass (even through they maybe should have at least change the design of these starters because none of them looks like only pure 1 type....).
