Holy fuck her second phase is crazy, probably the most potent second phase of all bosses I have seen so far. Other bosses would get decimated in both phases by mage build, but her gaps closing ability is over the top, she actively dodge projectiles, and not to mention her skills are all so beautiful. And I love the fact that her abilities really prove she's a match to Radahn. 10/10 boss.

I think this is why I like this game so much. YOu fight a boss, get spanked a dozen times. You leave get geared or leveled or both and come back and one shot them. Then you get to the next boss and the strategy is thrown completely out the window. You can be level 100 and get bent over by a roaming monster pack.

I found a much better cheese(ish) strategy, which turned out fairly decent compared to my Dex playthrough: Dark Moon Greatsword +10 Activate L2 outside the fog wall Summon the Mimic Tear +10 Heal with a Crimson Tear Get in front of the summon Charge your R2 a couple times Work on occasional melee attacks Either run away from her Waterfowl attacks or let the summon tank her hits Keep spamming the charged R2 for a limited time This will cause her to stagger easily Go in for viscerals Charge an R2 as soon as she’s getting up Repeat until the 2nd phase Keep your summon at 80%-85% health Dodge consistently Avoid getting Scarlet Rot Profit

For anyone having trouble with her whirlwind attack, I've found that dodging out of her first sweep to get distance and than rolling into her second and third sweeps will gain you the best chance of survivability. Again, get enough distance to clear her first drop and than on the second and third, position yourself to dodge through the attack and end up behind her. It's not easy to get the timing down but give it a few try's, read her movements. Remember when she goes in the air try and react as soon as possible, and those gaps in between her swings are when you need to perform your rolls. Good luck guys, I hope this information helps you out. Don't give up. If it's any motivation you can get her sword after the fight and it's ash of war literally does that same triple typhoon attack and It's so much cooler when you're not on the receiving end.

Really really disappointing that all mage builds basically boil down to Rock sling, Comet, or pebble spam. They could've done so much like an evade attack where you jump backwards into the air and shoot several magic arrows, or actually embody an attack and dash forward, damaging anything you pass through. They could've given you a huge boulder that just rolls around the arena and bounces off the walls, or a magical extra arm that constantly casts spells for a time at the cost of additional FP.

I would love this boss... if the 1000 slash didn't exist. The first of the 3 slash attacks are undodgable (you can Dodge the other two barely), but does enough damage to kill all but the most ridiculous vigor builds. She heals for 1/3 of her health from it. And in Phase 2 it deals MORE damage, is faster, and poisons you. That one attack, changes this from a favorite boss to a boss I detest.

You can dodge every single of her flurries by timing your rolls correctly by rolling towards her, if you roll away from her you're gonna get hit by her follow up flurry combos. Just time your rolls towards her with each flurry combo chain she does and you will take no damage.

I think something that annoys me about magic is how glintstone pebble is basically the best spell in the game. As far as I can tell the only spell that's more efficient is Carian Slicer and that's a melee spell. Sure, some spells can put out more damage in an instant but pebble will ultimately give you more results for the same amount of FP.

@@andrewsmatsyt8954 Need the two halves of a secret medallion. One piece is in the southeastern part of Liurnia, there’s a dude inside a pot. Hit the pot and he gives you one half. The other piece is at the top of Castle Sol after beating commander Niall, which is a pretty tough fight. Take them back to the grand lift and use it. Boom, you’re in Haligtree. It’s a ridiculously difficult area.

A lot of people are going to hate me about this comment, but I think that Elden ring is the most unfair souls game ( in a bad way) the fact that for Melee player bosses are extremely difficult but magic player just keep distance and spam magic and defeat this boss is BS

I'm with you on this. Game was super unfun when using Zweihander. The bosses don't feel like they were designed with slow weapons in mind.

You're not alone there. This game has no sense of balance at all. It's all over the place. It still impresses me that people are still in denial on how broken this game is. I still really liked this game (just beat it yesterday) but FromSoft really dropped the ball in some aspects.

There's nothing more satisfying in Malenia's fight than when in her last bit of health she uses the Scarlet Aeonia and you have projectiles. Because once you dodge, victory is pretty much guaranteed.

To bet her you kill pumpkin head in the starting are to unlock the sorcerer locked in his dungeon, she will teach you glintstone sorcery, memorise the cheapest spell then find a staff and upgrade the spell as much as you can then you’ve set the game on easy mode, good job!

While her boss fight was kinda bs because of that flurry attack, I still loved Malenia as a character. She was actually the only boss in a long time that took me a long time to beat. Having to overcome this overpowered move was painful, but rewarding. And then comes Millicent's quest, adding more flavour to this encounter. You get this feeling of "finish this, for her." while you fight Malenia who is basically the polar opposite of her. To sum it up, Haligtree was tough, but one hell of a ride.

@@philipgodsworth4764 this was the problem in sekiro too. Combat arts like one mind and spiral cloud passage used to be too weak for the spirit emblem cost. They at least buffed them later. Hopefully they do it here too

Her first phase needs to be staggered lol, I played a strength build and the only way you can beat her with a ultra greatsword is by staggering her. She heals so god damn much and the hit lag on heavy weapons is insane.

That's basic spell is too fucking strong man, I didn't feel accomplish after 15 hours playing the game even though I beat like 4 major bosses. I guess I'm wrong thinking I'll enjoy playing as spell caster in my first playthrough. Back to Guts cosplaying I go
