Melting Silver - Making Hand Poured Silver Bars at Home
In this video, I'll be melting some silver bullion (Generic Rounds) into some more of my RFT Channel Bars, using my new Devil Forge Furnace or Foundry!
I am still an amateur when it comes to pouring and stamping as I only get a little practice every other week BUT I love trying my best and it's always a lot of fun.
Hopefully, you all enjoy this pour video and don't give me too hard of a time. :)

You might want to try cleaning up the crucible and removing surface slag with carbon rod before poring, also heating the molds to red/yellow hot give the air a change to escape before the silver cools eliminating voids on the bottom of the bar, finally if you tap out the bars onto sheet rock no danger of scratches or dings so no need to polish. Hope that helps and keep up the good work.

whats the best place to buy silver without paying premium?
@PHUCKyoutube689
@PHUCKyoutube689 Жыл бұрын
Estate sale Sterling silver, you can just stack that as is or you'll have to spend the hours and money to refine it. All you need to do is a nitric acid boil (Be careful not to kill yourself), cement the silver, melt into shot, run through your cell (if you don't have a cell you'll have to build one), then melt that and pour it into rounds or bars, then dispose of used acid. I find it's easier to pay the premiums. Large bars are not bad, if you are going to pour your own I would buy .999 shot, it has a premium but lower then rounds and bars usually.

A few of those rounds carry a pretty high premium. However he is making bars that will sell for a pretty good premium themselves. In this situation he messed up but normally he would probably get more selling the channel bars then he would get for generic rounds. This is what they make .999 shot for or even a generic kilo bar.

@@RobFindsTreasure Okay, I see why "you" do it. Unfortunately, no one will pay extra for me to sell personalized ingots.I still wonder if, given the cost of fuel, equipment and time expended, whether you make much money. Getting the practice does make sense to me. I have followed your lead and collect copper pennies against the day when copper gets up to about $8 per pound. At that point melting begins to make sense. Anyway, I enjoy your videos and bought all your sorting pads. I recognize that we share a somewhat compulsive nature to spend so much time messing with coins.

Nice bars! In would also like to make some silver bars. I have a devilforge, exact the same you have. But I think I will use an electril furnace/kiln for silver. I will also prepare a pouring setup with a burner hitting those moulds while pouring. Give them a small tap while solodifying will give them some nice ripples, just the way I love them! I will also need to invest in a tumbler to get them as smooth and shiny as possible. Hopefully one day when I build a new shed or buy a garage box I will start melting silver. Just subbed 😁👍👍👍

Yeah - I now use the electric for silver and the devil forge for non-precious metals. Thanks for subbing brother!

I don't get why you would take a coin and melt it to make a rough looking bar. It seems like you are going backwards. Kind of like taking a fine piece of pottery and turning it into a clump of clay.

Am I missing something here. What is the point in melting new coins into bars. Why not save time and money and buy bars instead of coins?
