Why don’t we want to weld frame steel? I have a van just like your customer but where 2 of the body mounts are in the back (due to rust) are at like 50% life. They’ll break through eventually, I was thinking about having a welder help me out but if it’s not a good idea id like to know why
@davidspin53532 жыл бұрын
Never weld up a frame like that! For one thing is insurance companies do check social media and they'll drop you!

Look up wg-8 wedge or wg-5. Get some wedges. I’d pass on the car frame too. As for the box blade, I’m sure it’s done by now but I foresaw that bow being a problem, sometimes you’re better off telling the customer that you’ll take it to your shop from the get go. Well, portopower that cutting edge straight,weld in angle and add a few pieces of rec bar stock. 👍🏻 3/4”?!

@@MeltinMetalAnthony more ways than mine and yours to fix it. Guess it depends on how many hours/dollars the customer wants to dump into it before they contemplates buying a new one.

Can you give us a video of what jobs to avoid. You said in this one to avoid framed steel but I’m not sure what that is, I was looking at doing trailer repairs but is that considered framed steel?
@cooperschut77842 жыл бұрын
He simply means that you should not agree to jobs where you would be welding on the structural frame rails of any vehicle or road worthy equipment/trailer. He says that mainly because you open yourself up to massive liability, and I would agree completely and add that it's a terrible business practice no matter how much the job pays.
@jacobyjackson35302 жыл бұрын
@@cooperschut7784 I’d have to agree…I know he made a video being against taking class and passing test; which would lead to you being certified and able to obtain a license from the state you are working in or becoming bonded to work over state lines…but to each is his own…still a great video

Not trying to be negative in anyway, but why wouldn't the owner just get a new box blade? That has to be around a $2k or more worth of work. The newer box blades have remote hydraulic operated rippers. I'm genuinely curious.

Questions: What is your most often used welding type, I assume stick, I really like mig so far, but I haven't done tig yet... Also, what is your most often used type of rod for stick... Also, what are your go to cloths, like your pants, and not the shirt you caught on fire. Still in school guys, so if this seems basic please don't hate on me too much.
@MeltinMetalAnthony2 жыл бұрын
any shirt you buy, you will at some point or another catch it on fire. I have a video coming out tomorrow that talks about PPE.i use stick most times. flux core would be acceptable for most of what I do, but a suit case is heavy. and what rod I use depends on what im doing. tell your teacher to go more in depth on rod types and application

@@MeltinMetalAnthony To be honest my teacher is not that good, I am mostly teaching myself about amps, positions, and anything else... His idea of teaching welding is in the first 15 minutes of the first couple of days of class watching him welding with rod in a few different positions, and then saying, "Alright, go do that only better." He's a nice guy, but a poor teacher, he's been doing it for 45 years and looking forward to retirement.
