I can’t believe I did that! Maybe I’m rusty from playing carpenter while building my house. Can I fix it? Watch and see. This should’ve been a simple welding and fabrication job but I managed to complicate this one. No one said being a mobile welder was easy!

I'm an expert in going backwards on projects. And it seems I'm able to stack problems, too, like dead battery on the welder, running out of gas, forgetting the electrodes, forgetting the grinder, breaking the customer's stuff, etc. So tempting to give up, but what an inspiration to see you soldier through it. I'm proud of what you were able to accomplish.

Mistakes happen. Thats just part of welding/fabrication. (or anything in life for that fact) if you can narrow down errors as far as forgetting tools, filling up before heading to a site it'll make life easier in the long run. That's where the check lists come in. have a great day! get out there and make that money!!🙌

Love that you still posted the video/owned up to your mistakes. So many people only post the best parts of life/work/ECT. Watching a car repair video and they skip the part where it takes an extra hour to get a rusted bolt out. You're the real deal. Please don't ever change. Hope you have a great first winter. - Love from Northern Canada

OCV is open circuit voltage. For stick welders is usually around 80 volts. That would be the voltage in the lead when your not welding.

You may have known this already but one good way to avoid dealing with that glass on the end of your rod is to whip the end of your rod when you break your arc. It will whip the glassy Flux off of the end while it's still molten leaving you with a nice clean cup and a bare rod end that will strike right back up. (This trick is great for 7018).

Mistakes happen, owning up to them shows maturity. Fabrication can be fraught with many issues, I prefer to tack things first and make sure everything is where it needs to be first. It makes for a little less work than cutting out all of those welds and starting over. Lesson learned, great job.

Had a few jobs go bad on me, they are a learning curve but punishment at the time so well done for winning the day. Here in the UK, that generator cage would need to have a full operational rear light cluster on it and reflector. The number plate would need moving and have an operating light on it too. And the owner would have to compensate the nose weight to avoid sway. The traffic police and Ministry of Transport love trailers for regulation violations. Top stuff young man!
@MeltinMetalAnthony

I wanted to move the light and plate but he didn’t want to. And the 100 gal propane tanks in the front should take care of that

Your supposed to do stuff like that here but it's MT, trailers are so often used but most people don't follow the rules but they learn by pain. Were also not as stupid as coasties who can't seem to figure out greese is good for bearings so pick your poison problems you create for yourself or rolling projectiles I think cops count it a win.

Hay i just saw your runaway diesel short vid. I keep a CO2 only fire extinguisher on all my diesels rigs if you spray co2 in the oil fill hole or the intake it will shut it down. On a runaway it will save it and you cash. Runaways happen a lot here in Alaska because over time running in sub-zero weather ice will build up and clog the intake making it runaway. I guy i know had a brand new cat skid steer runaway and it send the fly wheel so far from the machine the pics of the damage was amazing. So a plan c fire extinguisher is a good thing to have and it will put out fires to :) ps luv your channel

OCV is the Open Circuit Voltage probably the most misunderstood welding term, guessing that thing definitely has no VRD (Voltage Reduction Device) on it unless you added one yourself? Higher OCV makes it easier to strike arc and some rods need high OCV but it also makes it easier to get a secondary shock yourself, been there done that. Why'd you lower it it ain't wet out there. Also man these constructions always look so fragile to me even with 1/4 steel, that's a lot of vibration on a truck like that. You've built plenty so you know what you're doing but I'm not ready to take a job like that and stand for it, not that we get many of those here in Europe. Props.

Ok, from the thumbnail, I thought you maybe melted the 12v wiring harness of the trailer or something. At the end, I was like, “that’s it?” That wasn’t a big deal mistake as you led on to be. I’m glad you didn’t burn out the wires at the rear end of the trailer, but having to cut something out to redo isn’t the end of the world, nor will it be your last time you ever do that again.
