Gooey Butter Cake (I’m from St. Louis). Two other great historic St. Louis deserts are Mrs. Ledbetter’s chocolate pie (coconut pecan chocolate custard) and Abe Lincoln Pie (fluffy eggnog-ish pie with chocolate grated on top). Both recipes were printed in the St. Louis Post Dispatch “back in the day”.

The corners are my favorite!!! We’ve always called them ooey gooey bars. I usually do chocolate base and add about a cup of peanut butter to the topping. Oh my word. I’ve used strawberry on the bottom and vanilla on top, I’ve added pumpkin pie filling to the top. The possibilities are endless. So goood!!!! I’m loving my cookbook. Such a joy to find a lot of the same recipes that I grew up with. Y’all take care!!!

I enjoy cooking myself but I noticed in the last couple years I have slow down. I wish I had your energy. You remind me so much of my mother every Sunday she will cook up a storm invite her 4 children and spouses and the grandkids. Sadly, dad passed away and four years later mom came down with cancer. 2 years later, mom passed away. We’re all Italian. We are three girls and one brother every holiday we keep the tradition going on with the nieces and nephews and the grandchildren they all enjoy the tradition. His girls enjoy doing. Pillsbury Supreme brand....years back has a variation.... I've made a few times.....for the filling....1 container frosting any flavor you like....add 8 oz cream cheese and 2 eggs.....beat till well incorporated.....add to the cake mix crust and bake.....I use to use the birthday frosting as the colored chips would melt and look colorful upon cutting......😊

Cream Cheese Bars is what i call these. Been making for years. I use a box of poud cake and follow the directions on the box but add 2TBS of butter and 1 teasp. of vanilla for my base . My family and friend's always want these at our gatherings. ❤

Hi Meme- I just made cream cheese croissant bars tonight for Labor Day picnic tomorrow. My recipe is similar but the base is 1 or 2 rolls of crescent rolls spread out on a 9 x 13. Cream cheese mixture is 2 bars CC and 1 cup sugar, 1 egg and vanilla. Then spread on top of crescents, and then add crescent rolls to the top. This time I added fresh blueberries in the cream cheese and put some in sugar and placed a few on top. When it’s done, you can sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on the top, but I didn’t use cinnamon today since I did blueberries. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!

Meme, I just found your channel, and it really makes me happy! I use to cook and hear All my grandma's stories but about 4 years ago she had a really bad stroke and cant talk or walk very well so we can't do all the fun stuff we use to. She sits with me in the kitchen and watches me just like I used to watch her. About 3 weeks ago, we lost my grandpa.. and it's really hard. Love this. I got this recipe 35 years ago from a sweet lady in our church in Goodview VA. She called them cheese bars. We renamed them Mrs. Prather's cheese bars in her honor. They are still a family favorite.

That recipe is so easy and looks so good!!! Btw, I have the same exact model stove you've got. The trick to setting the timer is to hold it down. It'll jump by tens of seconds instead of going second by second.

I have the same stove as you have, mine did not come with an instruction book. I’ve never known how to set the timer until the Doolollies Vlog. 😂 Thanks!

Put the model number into a Google search and you can probably find the owner's manual. You can look for the model number on the front behind the oven door or storage drawer.

I St Louis Missouri, we call that a Gooey Butter Cake and it's sold in about every store here. They have even designed a cookie after the cake call , guess.... Gooey Butter cookies 😁 and they are so yummy!!!! For those you take the cake mix add the egg and cream cheese roll the dough in a ball then into confectioners sugar (powdered sugar) and bake . So good!!!

Speaking of odd recipe names, my mother who passed away in 1980 had hired a neighbor girl to type out her written recipes. After my mother passed, my younger sister went through the recipe box to pick out good ones. There was a recipe for "Finklessers", it was supposed to be " Mrs. Finkelson's cookies". Anyway, my sister ended up throwing it out. Always wondered what they would have tasted like.
