Thank you, Chris. I've always appreciated the work you do. I'm sorry that you are going through such a difficult time...that daily life feels so trying for you at the moment. Please know that your reaching out to us in this way matters. Your intentions to do good matter. Your willingness to share your "presence" and "present" with us matters. Please take good care and be kind and gentle to yourself. Recovering from trauma takes time and a great deal of patience. I promise you this: you will, in time, be able to rise again. You will one day fly and soar like a phoenix rising from its ashes. 💓

This is pretty cool Chris ... glad I stumbled my way here. There is a lot of help be it books, internet, counseling and support groups. I'm 70 (dang) and have done all the professional and self help work that I could since I was 28. I'd have never survived without the whole support system. And my faith. I've seen too many miracles to not believe. I had cancer 5 years ago and since then have split with my husband. I'm tired of trying. I think this is a real case of giving up. I do spend a good bit of time wishing to cross over. Not that I'm at risk because I would never put that on my family. I'm glad you are talking about this and am going to look at the earlier episodes. Now don't you guys be worrying about me because I know how to keep on keepin on. Go with the flow, ride with the tide.

I was named Pollyanna because my father had read those books and wanted me to be optimistic. Sometimes, however, it is hard to be optimistic. I feel the pressure of my name, as ridiculous as it might seem. Many women in Brazil have this name and have no idea what the story behind it is, maybe it would be nice to be them sometimes. It is not easy to see the positive in everything, specially in today's world.
@ahnraemenkhera7451
@ahnraemenkhera7451 Жыл бұрын
I don’t know of any particular reason any person ought to feel compelled to express Optimism without a basis. People who do so tend to be inept at problem-solving, at reasoning, & at Correction. They just like slogans a lot. It’s better to be grounded in thought/speech/acts, emotions & perceptions which have logic, evidence & reasoning at their core-at center. When conditions are favorable and just, there’s reason for so-called optimism. When wrongful conditions prevail, Correctness must be established or re-established between people. The result of unchecked Wrong is confusion, chaos, & conflict on a massive scale. Nobody can realistically expect to arrive at “Rightful Output” by series of Wrongful steps & incremental Wrongful harm. Harmful effects must be corrected at their root-at the thinking level, consciously & subconsciously. This is why harm flourishes out of human control, sooner or later-because it compounds by Non-Correction, as does any equation. In order to “see” an error, one must have an ability to find out what went wrong. Sweeping errors under the rug in favor of presenting a shiny, happy appearance isn’t being truthful. Whenever anything isn’t True, it is also Incorrect. It’s False. The ancient formula of Truth+Justice+Correctness is still the only way to ever arrive at “Rightful Outcomes,” Correctly Constructive Results. All else, optimism/pessimism/neutrality is Nonconstructive, by definition, based on evidence. When conditions are unjust, unfavorable, undesirable, it’s better to be able to identify Why they ARE, provided that’s a fact. What was wrong. How it was mistaken as “right.” And what the Correct Result should manifestly evince, once the problem identified has been solved. In this way, a person can solve simple problems without causing more problems. Complex problems require solution-oriented patterns of thought to be set into motion. Until they are, no problem is really being “solved” from any mal-intended perspective. Intent is the most important human factor of Activity. That’s why asking “Why?” is still extremely clarifying. 🌱⚖️🌱

OK Chris! . .You say you’re sick of yourself and I get it. You are obviously not the only person who struggles with mental health. . . maybe it’s because you’re thinking about your problems and your travails too much. Sometimes we have to step outside of ourselves and our problems in order to get to a better place mentally. May I make a suggestion? How about helping out at a homeless shelter, or a youth center. You’re always saying you’re concerned about the plight of young men. You can be a part of positive change in young men’s lives. You may live in a high profile world now, but you started off in Queens. . .so you know some of the struggles that our youth are up against. You don't have to do something big. start off small, no cameras. Take your kids if you can and show them a different perspective. It could change their world view and help you bond closer with them. I promise that it will make you feel better. Remember when we give back we get back! And I would not suggest things that I have not already done. Helping others makes you feel good about yourself. David Goggins is amazing and there's nothing wrong with idolizing him, but caring for others and showing compassion for those that are less fortunate is also a form of strength. Remember Agape Love. Stoicism and Memento Mori is great too, but again they are ideals. . . put them into action. Get after it Chris!

i write this as i lay in my bed, not at work when i could be, because anxiety & depression are in driver's seat atm. not fun to admit to myself, or anyone. i'm almost one year clean after over 13 years of opiate dependence/ addiction. i at least have a temp apartment after being homeless and i have a good job with benefits that actually helps other people. but, that underlying trauma is soooooo hard to overcome. the feelings of guilt for mistakes i've made are heavy beyond words. i detoxed myself with zero help. i work in a mental health clinic but have had no help for myself. every little thing i do right...i celebrate. i work every day to be active, be outside, connect with people, be creative, do things i love...but that trauma. decades of it...it lingers. btw...u hopping on some clicks from depeche mode? tbh i can't say as i'd blame ya. 🙃 i'm really just kidding...my guess is you've heard it and are inspired by it. 💜🤟😎

I have a serious heart problem; my doctors tell me I have a year or two. In the song ‘live like you’re dying’, the dying person rides a bull and goes skydiving. In reality, if you are dying, you are probably sick and can’t do a lot of things. But I want to make my remaining time as lovely and joyful as possible, so I travel and camp in my car. Some days I drive 300 miles, some days I just rest. I have my little dog with me. I see nature and feel weather. I meet others like me, living in their vehicles. Part of why you can’t achieve being present is because of the complicated life you have created, and part of it because you don’t have to. In my world, if I need water I have to drive somewhere and buy it; I don’t have a tap to turn on. When I poop, I can’t just flush it away, I have to dispose of it. Living closer to the land, with less creature comforts, forces you to be more present to survive. Take your kids and go camping. Wash your dishes or clothes by hand. Go out in your driveway and carefully wash your car. Plant a vegetable garden and can what you grow. Strip away some creature comforts and start living intentionally. Go to sleep tired and wake up slowly, appreciating the day. Try to live more simply. Try to be more of a minimalist and only have things you really need, and love. This is what dying people do. We get rid of things, to leave our family or community less burden. We live simply so we can savor each act, each thing, each moment. We give meaning to washing a dish: that we can do it, that it helps us eat, that it looks and feels clean, that today we felt well enough to accomplish that small task. Slow down and simplify Chris; it will help you.

I recall a time of sickness in my own family’s journey. It’s VERY TRUE that slo-o-o-o-w-w-wing wa-a-a-a-y down makes living more meaningful & more God-centered (whether you have a belief in divinity or don’t). There’s something about SIMPLE joys & relishing the experience of being that makes the time seem much more worthy than when it’s spent on dashing about in a furor of “busy nothingness,” as Jane Austen described it in her day. The sheer meaninglessness of rushing back and forth in herds & herds toward these filthy watering holes of commerce, draining energy & time in pursuit of imaginary comforts & leisure that NEVER materialize, is just so futile & empty when you look at the “trophies” of your dashing!! Or the empty trophy cases you’ve preserved “in case” of the arrival of The Big Day in The Big Time. Nearly laughable, except for the Sadness. I’m sorry for your health challenges, too. Sometimes, that’s the sacrifice we make in being guardian angels, problem-solvers, & helpful to others’ hopes & dreams-stress robs the health. It seems as if your life of today has brought you some Wisdom you might not otherwise have gleaned. My hope & prayer for you is that the lessons you impart will not be wasted on the foolish & self-centered. I wish you Safety. I embrace your Efforts from afar & Thank you-for reminding us that trials are sent to Teach us things we need to know & do not. We all have limits. Let’s all accept our own & everyone else’s. No need for pedestals, fame, & vacuous hero-worship of The Mindless. Let everyone who follows your thread take a page from your example: Live. Live Simply and Live Courageously. Momento mori, well-presented. Faithfully delivered into the cosmos. Be well. Live in Peace. 🌷🌱🙏🏽🙏🏽🌷🌱🌸

I respect you so very much for your emotional honesty with us. No, you’re not a guru, just a fellow fighter wanting to stay more in the light than the in the dark. You ARE, however, a teacher simply through the fact that you share your struggle. When a person in the public eye talks about any health issue they’re living with, that person becomes an encourager to others (cross -reference Michael J Fox, Selma Blair). I’ll tell you what I tell myself when I’m engulfed in the dark: Morning Always Comes, The Light Always Returns. Even when it feels like this is the time it won’t, the dark lifts. Always keep fighting. 🌹

All because, we ALL DIE, cherish life and give your all, and be giving. There is peace in overcoming the fear etc. Great topic to deal with! Old saying- LOL(nobody gets out of this life, alive). The sooner we understand and love, cherish, give, the more real life becomes etc. Love the show!

I completely understand how you feel Chris. With the anxiety i have experienced with losing my mom. I have had to get back into not only therapy breathing techniques, etc even working in a PTSD workbook because i have been diagnosed with PTSD. But i have also made myself get back into singing. I suck at singing but it helps with the anxiety. I work with languages on Duolingo just to keep my mind distracted, and i also enjoy the languages i learning and i have also got myself or trying to meditate. Because i have restlessness from anxiety. Working with art. Just trying to get my mind back on track. And like you said taking breaks i have had too. Taking more trips. Actual went to see Brit Floyd night before last. My dad is wanting to do all this. And part of me doesn't want to because of the anxiety i have but i know it is good to push myself out of my comfort zone. Lol. So i know that procrastinating thinking and feeling. Everyone has struggles Chris. And you have so much pressure on you in the work you do. But i also want to thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I’m enjoying the chats, too! Whether from the couch or podium. It’s good for every person to develop insight, no matter how banal the source may be. Always a Blessing in every interchange of ideas with people who have gleaned some!! Each individual effort requires practice to achieve proficiency. So beginning with “memento mori,” is excellent timing from any point in life a person feels himself/herself beginning anything. You may very well not finish whatever you’re starting. But it’s important to have some idea as to why the effort was begun at all. Zen is a state of existence. Also, a state of self-awareness. Also a state of universal awareness that one can only exist within existence, as it is. As it co-exists, including & enfolding everything else existing. The finite aspect of “living,” is self-contained & deeply personal. But when one interacts with Life, the interactivity ripples outward by degree. Interactivity will result in either self-definition, or in the achievement of limitless possibility, universally, but rarely will it be proven to do both. Perhaps, the wish for others is more important than one’s wishes for oneself. Certainly in universal terms, that’s usually true. But for people who believe interactivity is important, sacred, honorable, then the present of interaction WITH them enlarges all. Be Blessed, Chris Cuomo! Same to all your Family.

I think it's far beyond just a few of us, its the zeitgeist of the 20s'. Camus says to embrace the absurdity of life, so true. in the end, we're all social animals and dependant on each other. Don't put a target on your forehead, maybe go stealth for a while and get the mind organized. Purge what needs purging. Learned to love my wife and kids even more than ever now after decades together. Love those who love you.

Oh Chris, I wish I knew you on a personal level. You are such a brilliant guy. I have watched you for years. I loved your Pops. Thanks for all you say and do. Our country is so freaked up. I would vote for you for POTUS in a heartbeat. My son got his political science degree at Stanford and now is a second year law student there. Since he was 6 his answer to his dream job was and is POTUS. Youth like Jacob are our future and I'm so scared for them.

Funk. It’s a funk. For me, a bit seasonal, a bit of just overwhelming circumstances. Time for me to retreat and do what I need to heal whatever wounds have arisen. I don’t envy your life in the spotlight. Blessings Chris. ❤️

Chris: if I may ask, being someone that admires&follows you, it's hard for me to understand your lows, you have health, family, work,success, in theory you have it all, whatever triggers your discomfort is your enemy, don't let it shadow all the good life provides you.❤🙏👏

Moderation in life is key, to a well-balanced life. Also, people need to understand how important it is to think for themselves and not be influenced by what the media dictates.. Be present and breathe when life gets stressful.

"The guy with the most strikeouts has the most hits," was the sign on the wall of George Steinbrenner. Chris Cuomo, you have quoted many philosophies, could you recommend one book when you begin which would help those of us who are not steeped in your references?

You don’t need advice..you already know what you need to do. If someone or something is making you unhappy maybe it’s time for a change..whatever that is. Personal or professional. I also take an antidepressant and what has worked for years is Prozac 10-80mg. I don’t mind sharing this if it helps. There are so many out there and they don’t all work the same for everybody. Prozac is the first SSRI and works better than these newer ones..at least for me. Talk with your doc. I live in the present pretty well, but HOPE is what keeps me going. If I die tomorrow my feeling is that my soul or spirit lives on in another realm. Energy can not be created nor destroyed. Science. Be well and do what you gotta do to be happy NOW. Life goes by so fast.😇
