The People's Grocery Lynching's; A true story about a store owner Thomas Moss, his employee's Calvin McDowell, and Will Stewart. In search of the American dream and upset about the treatment of their people. A group of black men opened the first black owned grocery store in 1889 located in Memphis, Tennessee called "The Peoples Grocery". Unfortunately a white store owner William Barrett located across the street, did not like the new competition nor success of their business. After several attempts to close Thomas's store down, the disgruntled William Barrett was a main culprit in setting up the lynching's of Thomas Moss, Calvin McDowell, and Will Stewart.

This is why I'm so fixated and devoted to becoming successful .. for those that couldn't and were held back. Those three just didn't know how pivotal their contributions and sacrifices would be for the betterment of us as a whole and the civil rights movements. Thank you.

Never knew about this. It's a shame how something as brutal as this is just glossed over in history. Thanks for telling the story

Thanks for the story bruh. It’s sad how pathetic times and racism is and what our ancestors had to deal with in this country.
