To all the Veterans! Thank you! Question: I'm a Patriot Guard Rider. Its suppose to be a non-political organization. I've always been proud to ride in honor of our Veterans. Though during the Trump vs Clinton campaign most of the guys (only guys at the time I was riding w them) started backing Trump and putting down John McCain as an Benedict Arnold! If you can believe that...I've since had 2 surgeries and unable to ride. of course Trump was elected. John McCain has passed. The country more divided than ever....forgive me; I have no question, only disgust for Trump and his supporters. God help us all! P. S. I never told the ride Captain how I felt about all the talk...cause: 1) we were there to escort deceased Veterans by invitations from their families (if they were lucky enough to have families) PGR has always been about respecting our Veterans.. 2) PGR suppose to be a nonpolitical organization, specifically to honor and respect our Veterans. It's not about my feelings. Thank you for your service Dana.

@Spok DT is a domestic enemy of the shining city on the hill America must be, and quote " A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

Instead he lied and got doctors notes not to go and fight for this country. Disgraceful

@Spok 1st Amendment, freedom of Speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion. Opposition to the party of the President is every bit as patriotic as supporting the President themselves, but our nation has no god, it has the freedom to worship god as each of us deems fit, or to not worship at all. A true patriot sees this as our duty, to uphold our constitution which has nothing to do with blindly supporting our President and instead questioning him and holding him accountable. Article 1 of the constitution describes not a presidency but our congress as the first branch of government and calls the House of representatives the peoples house, the branch most aligned with the nation. The Senate is the peoples statecraft, the more restrained house of Congress, but the job of our congress is to legislate, and perform oversight by approving ministers, ie cabinet positions and judicial nominees. Article 2 is the executive branch, whose job is to execute the laws and policies set forth by the Article 1 branch. And the problem is you neither see nor respect in your statement, that supporting the President makes you a patriot, that my loyalty to country is beholden to any man. My honor and my faith is to my oath to uphold the Constitution, which the President is just as beholden to. My oath actually means something to me, whereas the very first amendment is under attack by you in your statement of our god, and by our President calling journalists the enemy of the people, as well as the banning of muslims which flies in the face of freedom of religion. So learn the Constitution, take the time to get educated, or forever be a brainwashed disciple of obedient political fiction and the dog of the wealthy Corporate establishment that could care less about you and wants you to stay ignorant.

Actually I hit the dislike button because I think this is jingoism at its worst. Supporting your warriors in a just cause--like WW2 was,is one thing. And laudable. Blindly supporting a war machine in an unjust cause---and they have been numerous---is not. I wish Americans would pause for moment and ask themselves------what the hell are we doing in Afghanistan/elsewhere in the Middle East? Why are you on the wrong side in Yemen? Why are you supporting the Saudis still, after they murdered Khashoggi? Wars should only be fought when no other course is available. And not for oil.

AMEN! Semper Fidelis to all who served, no matter which branch. This day is call'd the feast of Crispian. He that outlives this day, and comes safe home, Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam'd, And rouse him at the name of Crispian. He that shall live this day, and see old age, Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours, And say "To-morrow is Saint Crispian." Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars, And say "These wounds I had on Crispin's day." Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember, with advantages, What feats he did that day. Then shall our names, Familiar in his mouth as household words- Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter, Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester- Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red. This story shall the good man teach his son; And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be rememberèd- We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in England (America)now a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

I rarely hear anyone point out that bone spurs are *curable.* I had them on my little toes, and a minor surgery removed them back in the 60s, and they haven't bothered me since. Of course, I stopped wearing high heels with pointy toes, which was the main cause back in the day. One wonders, at least I do, how he could have gotten them. Was he wearing high heels? Misshaped shoes? It doesn't even make sense, not as an excuse to keep someone out of the military and not on a guy as supposedly wealthy as he was that he couldn't have gotten treatment for them before they ever became an issue for the military. Obviously, _he was lying, and so was the doctor he paid off._ Gawd.

Thank you. My father fought in WWII and Korea. He never talked about it....The men in that war never talked about it. They came home, picked up the pieces and carried on. When my father was 70, I was able to take him to Washington DC, and by the grace of God, that was the day they were dedicating the WWII memorial. I never saw my father cry, ever, but that day I did. My father spoke with many service men....men he didn't even know. I saw him heal that day. My father has since passed away, and I am the lucky one in the family who has the portrait of him in his uniform. As a child I looked at it often, and many questions ran through my mind. Now I look at it as an adult, and my questions have been answered. To serve your country is the highest honor. To all those men and women who gave their lives so that I could grow up in a free country, thank you. And to my dad... I love and miss you......

Many angry comments here. Let's take a moment this Memorial Day to pause and remember those who served and those who fell. Let's take this time to reflect on who *we* are and what *we* will do this year to restore our nation, to make it once again reflects the values so many have sacrificed to defend. It is not enough to shout angrily into the void. This year, right now, the wheels of democracy are turning. Let's vow this year to be a examples of honesty, truth, and fairness. Let's be engaged with our representatives and, should they have fallen short of our values, let us support those who would replace them. Support them with our time and our financial resources. This year will be difficult for many, but our honor is at stake. It will only be restored if we cause it to be.
