Exactly what I was thinking! I now have so much respect for the young man. I’m 20 and most people I know haven’t even heard of the film. It’s only old farts and cinephiles who are aware of it. @@sandygrungerson1177 "Vibes" refers to the setting, atmosphere, and general "feeling" of the scene. To quote google, "A distinctive emotional quality or atmosphere that is sensed or experienced by someone." Imagine its a Dusky night at 2 a.m, nice and warm, just enough for t-shirts. You and your friend are just strolling the streets and stumble onto a piano, and your friend starts to play "Memories of Green." To me that brings a very emotional feel, it sounds like a memory that I would cherish forever. Just the nostalgia and love I hold for "Memories of Green" is enough to feel a vibe.

Memories of Green indeed: that street is mostly steel and concrete. Was this song in the original movie about a place just like this? About a place that absorbs us then leaves all alone, far from ourselves, with just distant memories of something dear and deeply human? I might be too high but it's actually one of the most beautiful videos I've watched ever. The luck which brought together a piano, a working video camera, and a guy who've learned how to play this piece is also beautiful.

This music is played in the movie Blade Runner (1982) when the replicant Rachael (Sean Young) remembers her old memories of her younger years while the Blade Runner (Harrison Ford) tells her her memory is not really hers but from someone else's. This brings series of complex emotions and leaves her in tears... The music from the movie has vast cult following and you can find many "ambient music" inspired by the movie scores in KZbin. Very atmospheric and moody.

La ciudad, las luces, un piano en la noche. Gente autómata ajena a todo. Un mundo incomprensible. Como siempre lo ha sido. Una música brota del piano, mezclando sus notas con los sonidos de la noche. Memories of Green is a piece of music I find stunningly beautiful. This young man did it justice. Nailed the emotion of it. I'm more familiar with the New American Orchestra arrangement, which is the alarm on my phone. For many years after the film's release, Vangelis didn't want the sound track released: it was New American Orchestra version or nothing. I just came to love the New American Orchestra versions of this, Love Theme and Blade Runner Blues, as something outside of the film.
