I didn't realize the occasion was coming up until a few days ago so I scrambled to complete this. It's pretty rushed but I hope it's still enjoyable!

This really is very striking. Niko's growing up, but the World Machine stays in place, like a digital ghost. It just feel fits the game and it's whole vibe. Excellent music choice too. I know it's rushed, but it's a very good tribute, I think.

I absolutely love this. Seeing Niko a bit older, showing some time has passed; sighing on reminiscing on the experience and time spend together. OneShot as Niko's reflection from when their connection was made, signifying how long it's been since, and their faded look shows that they're not really there together, but still thinking about how they feel on the situation. OneShot brought us all together but couldn't keep us together, and we don't play the game out of their wish to be left alone on our Hard Drive, as only booting the game up again makes them feel bad that they cannot all meet up again. All the while, it seems they're on a Pier looking out toward the ocean, wondering if we (the Player/God) are out there, either beyond the horizon or on a different planet; with that iconic piano piece that only plays after Niko leaves for home after OneShot is saved, playing in the background. Always stirs these feelings from your first Solstice together that you cannot experience the same way ever again... 😭

What I've realised about oneshot is that by putting us through everything that it did, and making us never forget Niko, it's in a way "taming" US. We treat Niko like a real being that we love and miss, the same way that to tame a robot you need to treat it like any other person. It allows for Niko to go outside of the game, the same way a tamed robot goes outside its code. Even though Niko is just code, we allow them to be more than that, in fan content such as this, and (there's no way i can't make this sound clique) in our minds forever. God I love this game so much

This… this hits me right in the feels, I beat OneShot a few weeks ago and gotten all the achievements a few days ago, and frequently the realization hits me that I won’t be able to experience the game the same way I did before, with Niko gone it just doesn’t feel the same and it saddens me, but In the words of dr Seuss: “don’t be sad because it’s over, smile because it happened”. I won’t ever forget this game and I’ll cherish it in my heart forever

I really love the animation! I also liked the minor detail of the World Machine having the form of Niko from the time OneShot occured, as theoretically, it is the only form of Niko the World Machine has. This whole story made me feel so involved. There has nothing that made me feel so involved and I cried at the end, but after Niko said "I promise... I'll never forget you, so take care of yourself, okay?" I just started crying uncontrollably as I have done the exact opposite... I haven't been eating or drinking anything or sleeping for that matter for 3 days now and I was honestly planning on dying not so far from now and I just wanted to finish this game that I've been planning on finishing for so long. I went to bed and just started uncontrollably sobbing which I haven't done in soo so long Like I haven;t cried in so long as well. It feels so stupid to say that a game might make me reconsider suicide, but I don't wanna go to ahead of me as I still think It's hopeless, but jsut saying that Oneshot might actually saved my life. Still don';t know now... I'm gonna go make myself some chocolate milk now... Goodbye Niko....

This game got me out of a really bad place in my life and it had me actually crying at the end of both runs. Not a lot of games have actually had me feel happy or sad or anything like that, and for that I am truly thankful. Thankful that a game like this exists. I'm crying right now, and that's fine. This video came across me just as I've found myself falling back into thinking about OneShot again, and there's something about it that just feels right. I hope Niko's doing okay. I miss them. I hope the World Machine is doing well. I wish I could talk to it a little more, let it know that I still think about it sometimes. I check in occasionally though. It seems like it's doing fine. And Niko's a smart kid, I'm sure they can handle whatever life throws at them.

Also, it seems like Niko grew up and he probably is almost an adult, meanwhile TWM is, well... the same. I guess they're friends now.

Yeah, I'll have to remember for the proper 10th anniversary so I can do something more substantial! Niko here I'd say is a teen - a few years older than in the events of OneShot, and they're reminiscing about their adventure. They'll never forget it, nor you.

Assuming you go off of the time solstice was released (2017), and you take into account that Niko is 8 years old during the events of OneShot, as of 2024 Niko is around 15 and a half.

I like to think that when Niko got home, he bought a giant lightbulb to keep in their room as a memory from The World Machine. Everyday they try to communicate with TWM. Even tho they think that TWM can’t hear them, they actually can, and each day, TWM talks with Alula, Calamus and the rest to talk about what Niko said. Sadly, one day Niko forgot about that world, and now it all feels empty without them. TWM decided to “visit” Niko, even tho they can’t see them. The realization from TWM that Niko can’t see them makes them sad, and that’s how we got to this scene. (Pretty complex I know, this is just one of my casual shower thoughts)

I don't know why but I feel this is the proper place to comment this. I found Oneshot in a really dark time in my life and it was sort of what kept me going, I beat the game (+Solstice) and then sort of sat around like "now what"? So seeing this, even though it's just a fan animation makes me all emotional inside because just seeing Niko old but Entity still having the depiction of younger Niko is so striking and all I can think of is "wow". I've been coming back to this animation every once in a while making sure I don't forget about how strong and loving the community is of this game.

I love thinking about whether Niko knows that a fragment of the world machine is following him, maybe as an echo or some kind of imaginary friend, or if they're simply in a similar placd mentally, reminiscing over the times they shared. I know the latter was the intent due to some other comments and replies, but in terms of headcanon, its hard to decide which makes me feel better inside. You never fail to disappoint. Keep it up.

The art and idea is very great. Have never thought of the fact what Niko as a character may do after the return and this video brings up the pondering about past that you can't touch and feel anymore with a bit of nostalgia. Really hits me since I have similar situation. If the author of the video put deep meaning I wonder if they actually depicted world machine as a way to partially visualize Niko's thoughts and bring it to the surface for viewer, that's the meaning behind it I found for myself. Soundtrack is chosen very carefully, probably fits the best out of all. Sometimes I just turn on this video to sink in my thoughts, the music is calming and has very few notes and still conveys the feeling, ocean sounds add on very well. Generally this symbiosis of meaning behind art, nature sounds and beautiful soundtrack is perfect.

Thanks for the analytical comment. My intention with putting TWM here was as a simple representation of the game's events - it's not really there, as you can see by the snow on the railing it's leaning on being undisturbed, and the two not interacting. Perhaps Niko and TWM are thinking about each other at the moment, connected mentally even though they're separated by a vast physical distance. Though, of course, you are free to interpret it however you'd like! I did put a lot of thought into choosing a song from the OST, so I'm glad you like my choice. This animation would feel way less impactful without it, I think. Music is so overpowered!

Somewhere out there is the player peering into this scene through special means that neither niko or the world machine can understand. They cant see him. But he sees them. The player is watching these two right now and nods in silent understanding that all is well and he is no longer needed to guide either of them. The player feels a twinge and longing and sadness seeing Niko a little older now that he sees him once again...But the player smiles a little seeing how far Niko has grown without him. Time truly has passed more than the player anticipated. The player is no longer needed and quietly taps at a special mechanical device with so many buttons with letters and numbers on it that makes several clunking noises before disappearing once again. This leaves the Niko and The world machine where they are, undisturbed and left thinking about their tough times in the past and the future...which seems just a little brighter now for both of them. All is calm. All is well. But the player does not know, That they right now in this very spot are quietly thinking about him too.

Я поиграл в Oneshot, и после этого я наслаждаюсь этой музыкой, мне приятно видеть как Нико позвраслел, а мировая машина осталась форме того Нико, того нико что спас их мир... В неком вроде Мировая машина показавает тем что она блогадарна Нико за тот момент. Мне очень приятно смотреть что Нико стот возле морея отсылая на его мечту, увидеть океан! Смотря вверх Нико будто гадает... Бог все еще тут? Наблюдает ли он за ними? Или он ушел... По лицу Мировая машина своим лицом будто говорит Нико что не знает и сама остался ли от бог что помог спасти тот мир... Все вы ребята останетесь у меня а сердце... Фонарщик, Прототип, Седрик и осталные, ваш мир не будет забыт вить о вас помнят сотню тысяч людей, оставляя тот самый мир до этих пор живым. Oneshot это очень глубокая игра, думаю многие плакали когда она попрощались с Нико, только попрощались они.... Навсегда, надеюсь Нико рад тому что увидел океан и наконец встретил маму За орфографию извините, неудобно писать с телефона с таким маленьким окошком

Thank you! It's supposed to be more melancholy than my other loops, so I'm glad I got that across. TWM especially is looking forlorn. Yeah, I only found out about the 5th anniversary a few days ago and this was what I could put together in just a few days, haha. There's always christmas and new years to draw some nikos for!

Sometimes I feel just like Niko in this animation. Occasionally remembering my experience, looking somewhere and deeply thinking. World Machine follows Niko, just like it follows me, sometimes reminding about itself. After I finished OneShot I was very depressed, but in a good way. It hit me maybe too hard, because I didn't even know that I can be so sentimental towards a game. This is why OneShot isn't the game for me, it's a story. Story, that could've been told only through game format. The feeling is bittersweet, maybe even hurting, even if ending is happy no matter how you look at it. I just wish I could know more.

Interactive media allows players to immerse themselves deeper into a story as opposed to something like a book or film, since they actually get to interact with the narrative rather than being a bystander. Indie games like oneshot do a great job at such things as they can focus on telling a story instead of being constrained to hitting certain "video game market points" like triple A studios. I hope you've found other games that speak to you the same way oneshot has!

​@@Avolicis thanks for answering, and no, I didn't found anything comparable to oneshot, I mean, I found, but those games just don't strike for me. Even thought I have list of games I love or hate, oneshot is just too special. Looking at games similar to oneshot I think we need to appreciate what people with sharp minds and straight hand can do, something memorable and heartwarming. Thanks for answering and thank you for this piece of affection towards oneshot.

I feel like the more time I spend on anything related to this game, it affirms my belief that it is my favorite. I've played it one and a half times, had my dad and one of my best friends play it, and to this day it continues to hit me so deeply. Truly something special.

I just finished this game yesterday and I just have to say... This is the first game that has ever made me cry, at all. Seeing Niko leave like that and knowing she'll never come back is heartbreaking. But although I want to bring Niko back, I dont want to bring her away from her mom and her world. It feels bittersweet in a way. Thank you Avolicis for introducing me to the game through your lagtrain animatic on Niko. without that video, I would have never found the game so thank you :) Also great video, made me cry again, 10/10

OneShot is one of the games that at least a little helped me to distract myself from depression and keep my sanity. As a creative person, I can say that this game is simply a masterpiece, and the people who create content based on it - well done! I am very glad that people are creating content on it even now, after a huge amount of time. And it's nice that you, as an author, do not abandon your channel, but even read and respond to comments. You know, I'm very passionate about all the art of OneShot, which distracts me from my problems. I really like to learn various soundtracks on the synthesizer (now, by the way, I'm studying "on little cat feet"), draw Niko and the backgrounds of OneShot itself. It seems like it was quite recently (well.. not really) I started following this game and its community, and I've already become so attached to it all...
