Memory Seats Retrofit BMW e60

You will see how I mount some full Electric Seats with Memory and Lumbar support on a BMW e60 LCI, for this retrofit I need to modify the electrical installation / wiring of the seats, the seats with memory will need CAN communication for the module and K-BUS and power supply (12v) for the controls on the seats the switches , unlike the semi-electric seats that only need 12v power to operate, the full electric seats simple or with memory or the comfort seats are different than the semi-electric , they have a built-in control unit that controls the seat. the controls on the seat do not communicate directly with the control unit even if they are also mounted on the seat next to the it. instead they communicate through the K-BUS network with the switch module in the car and in turn it transfers from K-BUS to CAN and transmits back to the seats.

Excellent video, thank you. I added the old style lumbar bag in my brother's lci e61, I still cannot understand why BMW did not include the lumbar in the sport seat, it was allready fully electric! Anyway, later he got some fully featured conforts that were fitted, easy job, all wiring was present. I have comforts to fit in mine, also lci e61, but they need to be connected to pt-can (which is not easily accessible, might need to remove dash!). Also, they are 'very late' but 'pre lci' so some plug wiring will be a bit different but it will be done some time! All part of the fun. Keep up the good work!!

Good job, I will be going from half electrical pre-lci sport seats to LCI comfort seats with heating, cooling and active seat. That will be a lot of wire pulling, also to the airbag module for the head rest. Nice to have some inspiration, keep it up!

Great video, very talented for sure! Can you shine some light my way please. I have a pre LCI E60 with sports memory non heated seats. I am replacing them with LCI E60 sport memory seats + heated.. I thought I could just plug and play but 1 connector on the driver side is different and my seats are not powering on. What all do I need to do or replace?

hi i have been watching your videos they are great stuff on my pre lci e61 im trying to go from full electric seats to part electric heated seats the opposite way from the normal retrofits i have the seats working but not the heat part i need help with the wiring but struggling to find the information on pre lci cars i have also lost the function of my electric steering colum is there anyway to make it work without the memory seats being there?? thanks for any help you can give me thanks tony

Thanks for the great video it explained allot.Unfortunately there is some steps which wasnt explained. Passenger seat has second ground to the chassis,+12vdc and -12vdc pins was transferred from original yellow plug to the new black plug also in the black plug was added the twisted cables which are for can communication (as far as i understand from you cars equipped with heater seats already has those wires so i have to unplug them from my yellow plug and place them in the black one) so far two switches wires and two added (in my case i have the two wires already) but what are the other two wires for and on which pins i have to install them.. also the soldering process in the glove box was really unclear and i did bot understand anything from there. Which cables was soldered to which cables,also in the module plug on pin number two you added the k bus cable but from which seat and what about the second seat?

Hey I did the wiring correct, coding work because it’s responding , I can move the seat with program but not with buttons on the seat nether of driver/passenger seats work. the buttons that control the windows by the door have also stopped working,,,, what did I do wrong? I had half electric seat before retrofit .. I didn’t have the plug who is memory before

Hi! I have bmw e60 with comfort seats. I have one problem. My seat side bolster not going back to memorized position when I close the car’s door. It goes to zero position when I open the door or turn the car off and etc, but not going to memorised position when I close fhe door. Only gets back when I press the memory button on seat. Passanger seat works fine. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe you know how to fix?

Salut! Am tot cautat o rezolvare la problema mea(E60) dar nu gasesc nimic. Ceva imi spune ca tu esti persoana potrivita. Am trecut de la scaune full electric la ceva comfort. La pasager e totul ok,la sofer merge tot mai putin butonul de memeorie. Cand apas pe el sa memorez,nubse lumineaza si nici nu isi face treaba. O parere? Multumesc anticipat.

Does anyone have an idea how to retrofit the newer crash-active headrests? The 520d in the video already had them from the factory but what if you have an older model? I am going to put ventilated seats ("Nasca") in mine. I know how to do that, but have no idea how to make the headrests work since they are from a newer model (2008 vs 2007 LCI). They come with a separate yellow connector with 2 wires (from 09/2007 to 12/2007 the driver's side has 4 wires due to a secondary seat belt tensioner). So basically it would be a question of wiring and does it require the airbag module etc from the donor vehicle or can the original one be coded?

Salut Ovidiu as vrea un sfat dacă e posibil .îți explic am un bmw e90 și am montat scaune sport full electric dar fără încălzire. Eu având acelea clasice cu mânere. Am reușit și leam alimentat dar funcționează pentru câteva secunde apoi modulul de sub scaun întra în protecție.probabil e din cauza la can bus .acele 2 fire unde trebuie sa le trag ? Trebuie programat modulul după sau e de ajuns doar sa trag firele?

Can you please tell me is is possible to replace E64 (convertible sits) by F12 convertible sits with heating memroy etc fully working ? is a guy who didi it but not totaly that mean the memory etc works except the heating sits. a friend who make electrics harness told me i theory and to have no issue you just need to switch all your modules under your sit E64 LCI 635D sport pack (full electric and memory) and put them on the F12 LCI. What do you think about that ? on the F12 LCI they are airbag on the sits but on M6 they are in the doors then i will just not plug the wires for the airbag on the sits. i realy wish you are close of me to bring you the car but unfortunatly ^^

Hi. I have done the same. Put Pre LCI full electric seats into LCI instead of half electric. My problem is that I am moving both seats at same time from passenger side. But never from driver side. Also I have on CAN bus only SMBF...no SMFA. I also took for testing SMFA from an other Pre LCI because I thought I have wrong SM on driver side...but if I put it in LCI Ista shows me again SMBF (also if i unplug the SM under passenger seat) 😂 I've connected both SM on same CAN and from both SM 1 wire (LIN to SZM)...any idea what I did wrong?

Hello! you need to proper check your wiring and compare-it with WDS ! the passenger seat it is a slave and need to have an additional ground!

Salut. Ajuta ma si pe mine te rog. Am o problema la un e60 lci. A stat masina o perioada nemiscata, s a descarcat bateria. I am dat curent de la alta masina prin fata, a pornit, tot ok, dar nu mai merg butoanele de pe panoul usii soferului. Am luat alte butoane si la fel, nimic. Geamurile coboara normal din cheie si de pe fiecare usa. Ce sa se fi ars oare? Mersi anticipat!

A very poor guide to converting a chair to full electrics. No display of additional seat travel motor. There is no information about the additional module. and bundles. There is no information about the front skin stretching and the addition of a masking strip. It is better to buy original seats because they have an electric headrest. In general, you do a lot of rework and don't show the electrical mechanisms. My assessment 5/10 There are other shortcomings of yours that I will not write about. Plus for willingness to work with armchairs.
