Males and females share the same basic hormones in their body - but the levels differ enormously and the way that the levels change is also very different.
Women have a 23 to 35 day hormonal cycle while men’s hormonal cycle is just 24 hours. That means that women’s hormones are fluctuating or changing for an entire month, depending how long your cycle lasts, so from 23 to 35 days, while men go through an entire hormone cycle every 24 hours.
So a month vs 1 day hormonal cycle hits differently.
Women's cycles have four phases (menstrual, follicular, ovulation and luteal)
This cycle is governed by the interaction between the pituitary gland in the brain and the ovaries.
Men also have about 10 times more testosterone than women, so their hormone cycle is usually all about how their testosterone affects them. Males also produce estrogen and progesterone but in significantly lower quantities than the female body.
For men : This cycle starts and finishes every single day. Men produce testosterone at night. The testosterone levels rise and peak in the morning around 8 o’clock. The peaks and troughs in testosterone levels during tthe 24 hour cycle affect their mood, attitudes and behaviour. So during the morning, thEIR TESTOSTERONE IS HIGHER so their body feels more energized and rested.
From then on, the testosterone slowly decreases reaching its lowest point between 7 and 9 o’clock in the evening. This cycle repeats every 24 hours.
So as we said, males have a regular daily variation in their levels of the most important hormone, testosterone. While females experience dramatic fluctuations in their reproductive hormone levels during their entire monthly cycle. Due to these fluctuations females experience more physical symptoms such as in their mood, energy, fluid retention, temperature, blood sugars and insulin sensitivity, hair growth, skin, etc
