The dangerous thing is, that you eventually start to LIKE the way it feels when you're depressed. Because it almost feels like an excuse to not give your best for a little while. My personal experience with therapy: I had a male therapist and i saw him sort of as a dude who i could just explain my thoughts to. It helped me to actually specify further into my thoughts. I wouldn't have done that alone or with a friend. Therapy, imo, gives you a dedicated window of time you HAVE to reflect. Also, i have to add: This guy didn't talk much, it was mainly me, but he didn't comfort me either. At times he would get loud and just say: "Enough talking now, you gotta get out of here and do shit. See you next week" Shoutout to Mr. Nagele, he's a real one.

I’m 19 I’m at beginning of my KZbin career. I post original songs, covers, I have a series called taking my life seriously. I work at subway just tryna make a shit ton of money this summer and move to Oregon in August for job corps. So I can learn how to be an electrician and while I’m there I want to start a band. I want to join the marines. I tried to but they wouldn’t let me because I made a suicide attempt. But I am going to go back into that recruiters office in two years. I need to train to be Marine material within two years. I want to be rich in health wealth and relationships.

“It’s not that the world is out to get you, it’s just that you don’t understand the rules, you’re not playing the game” Yes this x1000. Many lonely unhappy people go down conspiracy rabbit holes to cope with feeling powerless and unsuccessful by making themselves think it’s because the world is out to get them, it takes the blame off of them.

Hi Professor Denmo! You have no idea how positive an impact you're having on young men. I'm so grateful that you give us these 1-on-1 classes for free lol. A question popped into my head when you mentioned reading: Do you have a list of books for various areas of life you'd recommend? Like mental health, business, conversational skills, relating with women etc. I'd be overjoyed if you made one (or replied with a link to one, if it already exists). Thanks again for all you do~ 🌞

The pain you can feel facing these hardships can be extremely challenging. But facing this pain is also in the long run beneficial for you. Pain like everything else in the universe follows the law of diminishing returns. Every time you hurt for the same thing you feel the pain a little less. Facing it in a controlled supportive setting makes it easier for you to face it in the future.
@user-kt5ij2sj8t
@user-kt5ij2sj8t Ай бұрын
@@specstar8724 No I don't think facing this pain has been beneficial at all. My life was far better before therapy, around 9% of people get worse in therapy according to some studies. I was a lot more emotionally grounded before therapy. Therapy in combination with other modalities of help I can get behind, but by itself I don't rate it, it's also really expensive.

I hope things are better now. What you describe this might be a sign of a poor fit between you and the therapist instead of a problem with therapy in general. It can take a few tries to find someone with the right approach for specific temperaments and needs.

29. Depression is still a thing. I found writing out those dark thoughts on a forum or something similar helps. Better to let it out than keep it pushed down until you snap from something small and it explodes everything out of proportion. Go back and look at those comments that you wrote years down the road and find the silver lining that you're much better off mentally than you were (hopefully) Edit: odd that i even mentioned this specific thing before i got to #6 on your list. Obviously means it works for some people.

My husband getting therapy saved our marriage. He already made great money, played a sport he enjoys and is good at, did martial arts, had stacks of books that he actually reads, and we live in a nice area for getting out into nature. But unfortunately his toxic upbringing gave him a sort of “default setting” of inadequacy no matter how what he did or how successful he was. Therapy and antidepressants have helped him to find a new “set point,” and now he can actually bring positive energy to our relationship and kids. So… don’t rule out therapy if you’re stuck no matter what.

Unfortunately it’s not enough to go to work and mind your own business, and keep things professional. People will come for you and are relentless if you seem level headed and might have some prospects. There is zero incentive for me to excel at work, there is never any rewards because that isn’t what they actually want; they want your soul these days, not your skills. Your skills make them feel I secure.

When I ask them why, they will just give me a generic reply of "nothing is wrong with you, we are just not a right match". Idk what is wrong with me. Idk what should I work on. Thats been going on for years now. The only gf I had during this time was one I met by a cold approach, after only approaching maybe 7 women in less than a month. So much better stats than OLD for me. Was it just a pure fluke, coincidence, or is cold approach just better for me?

Being stuck in a job that you dislike and feeling trapped by the salary is awful as well . I’m leaving my highest paid job , after a career of 7 years to pursue a masters to hopefully lead to greater fulfilment. I’ve saved and been strict to accommodate this but it’s been hard . I can see it as a risk given I am giving up ‘status ‘ and money in the short run , but its been nagging away at me for years . Worst comes to worse I’ll get snapped up in the same profession . I know it will be ok regardless even if it feels hard
