I love the tests in the beginning, they are so much simpler than you initially think. The first one wasn't about the written test, it was a problem solving test and J solved it by pulling the table over. Work smarter not harder. The pistol range wasn't a marksman course it was an attention to detail test. J looked at everything before making the decision to fire while everyone else shot first and asked questions later.

@@jeffburnham6611 sorry, what I’m trying to say is that I don’t believe his explanation of shooting her because of the books was his real reason. I remember back in the 80s when a friend of mine was getting some attention for the comic book series he had written called Men In Black. 😀 I still have signed copies of the comics in a box somewhere. When the movie hit and the local news interviewed him, Lowell just referred to himself as a "local geek who made good." 😀 When I saw him at the used book store a couple of years ago he was wearing one of his favorite bowling shirts and he was still living the same quiet life in the same town where he grew up. He gets some residuals from the MIB series (not much from the first movie, more from the others), and does some scriptwriting and stuff like that from time to time. 🙂 Local geek done good indeed.

Ya a medical examiner is more of a job “title” than it is something like a credential. Because she’s seen performing an autopsy, I think it’s safe to assume she’s a pathologist (since both medical examiners and coroners are technically trained in pathology as well). By the way, the phrase "men in black" is a common one and existed before this movie. It either refers to possible FBI agents, or the urban legend that there is a secret branch of government that has contact or deal with aliens. Many people who have claimed to see UFOs, also claimed to have been visited by "men in black" afterwards. It kind of always has a foreboding feeling to it, which is why it was kinda awesome when this movie came out and put a comedic spin on it. Great movie, great reaction!

This movie is incredible. The dynamic between the two lead characters is indicative of the buddy cop thing and the comedy is on point. Their banter is something that is easily recognisable. Every line has potential to be either hilarious or goosebump invoking. Even though the dark, gritty feel of the comics was mostly exchanged for sci-fi action comedy, I think that was a stroke of genius, and to be fair, there are some dark and gritty moments throughout the trilogy (MIB International doesn't count). This film is simply a masterpiece. One of my favourite franchises. P.S. In English, the bug at the very start is called a Dragonfly. A very cartoonish and animated Dragonfly.

The bug in the beginning is called a dragonfly, the job of tending to the dead is called a mortician (examining dead for cause of death is called a coroner) and the kickback from a gun is called recoil. This concludes today's English 101 class.

Also, the English name of the breed of the dog is "pug" (she was calling it "мопс" in Russian). She also asked "What is 'gills'?". This is "жабры" in Russian.

In English a backfire would be a gun malfunction, and is very rare. What you're describing where you get pushed back by the force is kickback

Tommy Lee Jones is a MASTER of grumpy, deadpan, curmudgeonly snark. He was great in The Fugitive, too. 90s Will Smith matching wits and snark WITH Tommy Lee Jones makes this a masterpiece. The late, great, Rip Torn. Such a great character actor. The painting is called American Gothic. Sgt. Friday is a reference to a classic TV show called Dragnet. Dan Akroyd and Tom Hanks did an affectionate parody movie back in the 80s, with Akroyd as the nephew of the original Joe Friday (Harry Morgan, of MASH fame, reprised his role from the series). GREAT and very funny movie, you'd probably like it.

The insect at the beginning of the movie is called a dragonfly in English. What does the Russian name for dragonfly literally translate to? The Men in Black movies are based on comicbooks owned by Marvel, so, technically, the Men in Black films are Marvel movies! Whoo!

Men in Black is officially 25! Stinks i missed it in theaters I think my dad got the vhs Highest grossing film of 1997 making $250 million Didn't know for the longest time it was based on a Marvel comic book that ran from 1990-1991 Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith make quite the team up battling aliens from outer space to keep Earth safe and in the dark This was also my first introduction to Vincent D' Nofrio, Rip Torn, and Linda Fiorentino Director Barry Sonnenfeld perfectly blends sci-fi, action, and comedy Terrific practical and digital effects by Rick Baker and by Industrial Light & Magic Great music by Danny Elfman and Will Smith's music video is catchy Loved going to that attraction at universal studios with mom and dad Pretty nice it lead to a cartoon series on the WB and 3 sequels but the original is still the best Love your thumbnail pic btw 😎

1. Edgar/Bug = Vincent D'onofrio played Gomer Pyle in Full Medal Jacket. 2. Tommy Lee Jones' roommate in college was Al Gore. 3. Jones has claimed that he's never had a part that he didn't love and doesn't have a job. Just a hobby that pays very good. 4. The term you're looking for regarding the cricket is "recoil" 5. Tell me this wasn't a fun movie. I dare you.

0:43: In English, it's called a dragonfly. 6:58: Gills are those open flaps on the side of fishes to help them breathe in water and out. For the guy having gills in the eyes, it could be the alien breathing in just air through them. 19:19: The word you're looking for in English to explain what she is, is a mortician. Coroner is another word for the same work too.

Casablanca is a WWII movie about French run but German occupied town in north Africa. This was after Germany conquered France. Rick (Humphrey Bogart) runs a casino/bar and obtained two letters of transit that will allow anyone to travel through German territories without question. It's a story about romance and fighting the Nazis. Check it out.
