Sorry for posting on an older video, but I just came across it and, as an active Romanian Army reenactor, I can definitely shed some light on Romanian WW2 weapons and equipment. First off, some history -in 1939, at the start of the war, Romania initially tried to remain neutral, but allowed some Polish units to escape from the combined German and Soviet onslaught into it's territory and journey to Britain to join the rest of the Allies. In exchange, Romania kept some Polish equipment, such as the M35 AT rifle as well as some machineguns and aircraft. That did not sit very well with either the Germans or Soviets, so, in 1940, Romania was subjected to an ultimatum - cede parts of it's territory to Hungary (backed by Germany) and the Soviet union, or face invasion, same as Poland one year earlier. That led to a coup by pro-Axis forces sending the King Carol the 2nd went into exile and replacing him with a right wing government led by Marshall Antonescu who nominated himself "Leader of the State" and placed the 18 year old son of King Carol, Mihai (Michael), on the Romanian Throne as a puppet king. The new King was leaning towards the Allies but had no power to speak of until August 1944, when, with the help and backing of most political parties organised a counter-coup, arrested Antonescu and placed the country on the Allied side, shortening the war by at least six months. Alas, by that time it was too late. In the confusion Soviet troops seized their moment and marched unopposed to the capital, Bucharest, placing it in Soviet hands. After the war king Michael was forced to abdicate, his place was taken by a new communist government and Romania remained a Soviet satellite until 1989. The helmet is the distinctive Dutch M27/34 helmet also used by the Duch army before their surrender to the Germans. It was adopted by the Romanian army in 1937 and remained in production in Dutch factories for the use for the Romanian army until the war's end. Since in 1940 Romania was unprepared for war, a lot of the equipment used was foreign - the main rifle of the Romanian army was the Czech made ZB VZ.24, a Mauser clone, while the main LMG and HMG were the ZB VZ.26/30 (which was also adopted by the UK as the Bren) and ZB 53 VZ.37 (adopted in the UK as the BESA), all firing the 7.92X57mm Mauser cartridge. To that were added a lot of 8mm Austrian Mannlicher M95 rifles captured during the first world war, as well as 6.5mm Romanian Mannlicher M93s also from WW1, Russian Mosin Nagant M1891 and 1891/30 and even some Japanese Arisaka rifles bought in 1940 just as Romania joined the axis and delivered through Russian territory before the invasion of the Soviet Union. When it comes to submachineguns, the main one was the Italian Beretta M38, later supplemmented by the Mp40, captured PPD40 and PPSH from Russia and the home-grown Orita (pronounced "Oritza"), which was roughly similar in performance to the Mp40 and used the same cartridge. And here we hit a snag, because I've never heard of the Romanian army ever using the Finnish Suomi Kp-31 or the Finnish Kasapanos AT grenade (We used our own version of the German "Geballte Ladung" instead). Also, there was never a point at which Romanian troops used body armour, this simply didn't happen. I am really puzzled as to why the designers of this mod decided on this particular configuration. Also, there was never any point at which Romania adopted self-loading rifles. Both the G43 and Soviet SVT-40 were used in small numbers on a local base (there are even pictures of Romanian soldiers armed with a Stg44), but never widely adopted. Artillery - yup, again, a jumble of different guns from different countries. The 13.2mm AA is indeed French, and I actually have hands on experience with it. The weird PAK 97/38 (f) is basically a French Canon Modele 1897 on a PAK mounting using a special shell for the anti tank role. As you can imagine, it was pretty weak. The main AT guns for the early war Romanian army were the 47mm Breda and the 47mm Bohler (not featured, but with which I have personal experience) The cream of the crop though is the Romanian Resita (pronounced "Reshitza") DT-UDR Md.43 75mm AT gun, which, as you well noticed, mixes the best features of three guns used by the Romanian Army, namely the Soviet ZIS-3 76mm gun (the recoil mechanism), the PAK 40 (breech) and the Vickers Model 1931 75mm AA gun (barrel). It had a tremendous muzzle velocity of 1030m/s which gave it a brutal 100mm penetration at 1000m, even surpassing the PAK 40 and British 17 pounder in that respect. Unfortunately, barrel life was extremely low as a result, barely 500 rounds. 342 guns were produced during the war and it was kept in commission until the late 70s. This gun was also installed on the Maresal tank hunter - the design actually predates the Hetzer and directly inspired it , but due to Romania's low industrial capacity and inexperience building tanks, while Hetzers rolled off the production line in droves, total production of the Maesal reached only 34 units + 5 prototypes before Romania switched sides and all the vehicles and related research were confiscated by the Soviets. The version in game is somewhat weird because it's the M5, which was actually based on the Pz.38 (t) chassis (like the Hetzer) but the description is of the earlier, M4 prototype Other tanks - the one with the "dildo" (recoil cylinder) is the "daddy" of the Pz.38(t), the Lt Vz.35, known in Romanian service as the Skoda R-2. They were bought before the war and in 1941 were the main Romanian tank alongside the R-1 tankette (also a Skoda design) and the French Renault R35 infantry support tank. The later tanks use the "T" initial, which, as you correctly guessed, stands for "Tanc" (pronounced exactly as the English word "tank"). The Lt.35/R-2 was also used as the base of the "Romanian Marder", the TACAM R2, which used a captured Zis-3 gun on the R-2 chassis, just like the marder mounted it on the chassis of the Pz.38. For some reason the designers of the mod decided to cheat and simply give Romania an actual Marder III Ausf H than model the correct TACAM R2. Speaking of the Renault, there was a version that was unique to Romania and I can't tell if that is indeed in game or not. Basically we replaced the laughable 37mm French gun with a far more powerful Soviet 45mm one. Another thing though - we never used the Grille and I don't know why they decided to include that vehicle and not the Hummel or the Su76, which we did use. Also, the Panthers, Hummel, T34/85s and Su76 were all received from the Soviets, but postwar. We also did have some US equipment which was lend-leased tot he Soviets and then captured during the Crimean campaign, but the main trucks of the Romanian army were the Czech Skoda 6 and Tatra T93, the Italian Fiat TL-37, the US Ford Marmon (bought pre-war) and the German Opel Blitz

The Suomi KP/-31 (Suomi-konepistooli or "Submachine-gun Finland") was a submachine gun (SMG) of Finnish design used during World War II. It was a descendant of the M-22 prototype and the KP/-26 production model, which was revealed to the public in 1925

That PPSH like SMG you were talking about is in fact a Finnish made SMG, which influenced the creation of the PPSH after the Winter War in 1939. Also the PPD you found later in the video, is just that as I stated above; the offspring of the Winter War, Russian soldiers who got their hands on the Finnish KP-31 enjoyed it greatly, so Russia began producing the PPD-40 by 1940, however it was relatively less effective than the KP-31 so upgrades went down the line and the PPSH was born. Another note considering Romania, the major reason for its mixed weaponry and what not was the fact that it practically switched sides in WWII near 1943 or 44, while the Red Army was advancing Romanian troops began joining them against the Axis as such any gear given by Germany was used alongside the gear given to them by the advancing Russians which explains a lot of their gear. Interesting fact considering the Studebaker; a lot of US companies sold to Germany in early 1939, 40 and 41 despite their close friends fighting the Germans the company that makes the Studebaker was especially large in selling trucks to the Germans who would probably pass them off to their allies. Also in addition to trucks US Oil also saw German hands and also use in the war. These sales if I recall (Correct if Wrong) continued well into the war even after the US joined.

the vz-24 is a Czechoslovakian rifle made from 1942-1942. the Romanians don't have a developed arms industry so they imported most of their weapons from Czechoslovakia, Germany, Italy, and so on.

The Suomi is Finnish. The Russians copied it's drum magazine for the PPD-38, which was developed into the PPD-40 later. Before this they only had the PPD-34 which had a crappy 25 round stick mag. Later the PPSh-41 was made using the same magazine. (Finns love to boast of "owning" the design of the best WW2 SMG.) Anyway, the Romanians changed sides and fought with the Russians later, so they have a weird mix of lend-lease style German gear, captured early war tanks and guns from all over the place that got dumped on them because the Germans didn't like it and lend-lease style stuff from the Russians, plus the guns from all over Europe that Romania used as standard and the weird Romanian home-grown designs. Pak 97/38 is a Pak 38 carriage with a French M1897 cannon barrel stuck on it,

the ZH-29 was a czech designed rifle (late 1920s), semi-auto, one of the first successful self-loading rifles used in service. the Suomi KP was a submachine gun of Finnish design, this gun was the basis for the Soviet PPSh-41. The Pak 97/38 is a German design which uses the French Schneider 75mm gun however the barrel was heavily modified with a muzzle brake to absorb the high recoil and was fitted onto a new carriage the gun was designed to fire HEAT as it was not effected by velocity.

Vz.24 is a Czechoslovakian rifle , the HMG vz.38 is also Czechoslovakian and it looks like BESA because the british bought it from Czechoslovakians and Vz.30 is also Czechoslovakian (Czechoslovakia was the biggest supplier of weapons to Romania), it is kinda weird it reminds you a Polish gun, cause again British used it as their standard machine gun and yes Soumi is Finnish, the self proppeled howitzer was on chassis of a Czechoslovakian LT vz.38, so it is NOT German, there is written T in the bracket ,which means"Tschechisch" and thats "Czech" in English and Panzer 35 is also Czech, my god im tired.....
