Nur reminds me so much of Mo Farah. The build, the running gait/stride pattern, the mind games, the grimace they both do when they're really straining... very very promising runner and excellent performance throughout these championships. Looking forward to see how he does in Outdoor.

And even more than that, Mo won A LOT of championship races with those very same tactics; Going to the lead with 800m to go and not letting anyone over take him. He's the new Mo on the block, a gutsy runner and is now starting to show that he's astute tatcically too.

Just squeezing a sub eight in. I expected Nur to be good at this meet, but I didn't expect him to be THIS good.

Why can’t you look past race, absolutely mo farah vibes the way he finished the 5k looking back smiling and celebrating down the finishing straight. Effortlessly running away from the field and very similar build

Something's up with Nuguse. He just hasn't been himself ever since the ACC Championships. Yes he did split a 3:55 1600 at the DMR, which is fast, but it only converts to like a 3:56 mid mile, but he timed his kick way too late. Now 9th in this 3K. I think he's just moved on past the NCAA. I think it's more of a mental thing, not a 'I'm really out of shape' thing. He doesn't seem engaged. He has lots of potential, but he just hasn't been showing us the spectacular racing Nuguse. The Nuguse we all know. The 2021 and 2019 Nuguse.

He set the 3k ncaa record earlier this year a week after covid. So I don't think he's over college. He was extremely aggressive at ACC and this weekend he was very timid. The Texas guy just pushed him out of the way with 210m to go in the DMR yesterday and that was pretty much the race. He's the best 1500-3000m front runner in the country. He needed to take the lead with 800-1000 to go and hammer it out like the Oklahoma State girl did. Maybe 1 or 2 guys are able to stick, but it's really hard to pass indoors and even if one got him that's better than what he just did.

I've always felt sorry for distance runners because they aren't valued in track and field. A sprinter can rack up points in individual races and relays, and even the odd long jump or triple jump.

Both Kemboi and Nur are to blame for that contact. Nur bounced into the front and Kemboi was like nah, I'm not having it and elbowed him, and then Nur rudely responded with a shove. Not worthy for a DQ though, cause no one went down.

Nico got 7th or 8th, and it was all because he tried to get back all the distance that he lost from the fall at once. He should have been more smart about it, biding his time until it was the perfect moment to strike. It was in a championship setting, so there was tonnes of pressure. I don't blame him, and NAU weren't gonna win anyway, but it would have been nicer to see him employ more tactics in his run.

There’s a big adrenaline spike when you fall and get up, he used that to catch back up; but when that burned off he didn’t quite have the kick he hoped for or might normally have. Hopefully he learned something here.

I think the reason he got 6th was cuz he fell, not cuz he got back too quick. People who fall in races almost never win them.
@QuantumLimp

To be fair, they picked up pace soon after the fall. Veatch employed the more conservative, slower approach but he had too much ground to make up once the race heated up. Obv Nico could've faired better but I don't think there was an easy answer. They were running 68/9 at the time, really shouldn't have hurt him that much to drop a couple seconds

These guys literally handed him the win. If you knew he ran the other race, should have taken out the pace faster... I just don't get it to be honest. I'm not trying to be the guy, but there is a reason why I always hate championship races. It's because the paces are so slow, they either cause someone to get an easier win than it should have been or people fall down etc (like how like 4 of them fell).
@reesek-s1138
@reesek-s1138 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think they handed it to him tbh. He's a sub 27 10k, NCAA champ 5k guy with a slower mile pr than several of the field. If anything, i would've expected him to drag out the pace, but I wouldnt have guessed him as a kicker's race champ.

@@reesek-s1138 Respectable response. I just wish they would have pushed the pace earlier because clearly he was tired. I think if they pushed the pace faster earlier head on, I think he would have been too exhausted for the last 3 laps.
