I cried so hard near the end when this first came out, because Caine died in such a horrible fashion. Even with his decisions he made I would not wish this kind of death on my worst enemy. His legs are paralyzed, arms flaying up, coughing on his own blood, trouble breathing, and his eyes already turned blue. All that and he is feeling incinerating pain trying to fight for his life. Some people say Sharif’s was worse because he was at the wrong place at the wrong time, but at least he died instantly. Caine didn’t. He died very painful and slow and felt every last bit of his life slipping against his will, worst kind of way to go out ever.

I only noticed this myself because someone posted an unrated director’s cut of the ending scenes (this scene) and I have been watching everyone’s video of this scense because I’m trying to find the difference between the unrated director’s cut of the ending scene and the original ending scene. I always read the comments on every video and sure enough this comment is posted on all the videos of this scene that are posted on KZbin, word for word. That’s weird.

the moments of him dying...maaaaan. This is One of the most real dying scenes in a movie next would be Alanzo(Denzel)training day that shit was bad too, lit him up. How the body does all those different actions because the pain sensory is going haywire, the brain and the body are now on two different accords where one(the body) is in critical mode and shutting down the other(the mind)is in preservation mode but since it has created separation from the body(thus losing control of functions hands doing weird things arms getting stiff, eyes rolling)it's just a mess. Poor Shareef got it from just trying to help is potnah move some boxes that day but it goes to show no matter how good of a person you are, you walk the right path and do right by others if you keep the wrong company the negative energy they harness can still affect you too.

Right! Everything you just said holds logic and reason 💯. I agree with this. It's amazing how the body works. One of the most powerful scenes from this era of movies depicting life in the "hood." Some of us know this all too well. Your past will creep up behind you and engulf your future as though plans were never made. Change was not possible. Caine learned the hard way, and only seconds before dying. Shariff learned the hard way too. Unfortunately we don't know what his last thoughts were, but I'm sure he thought about the foul shit that he did prior to becoming a Muslim. (remember his father told Caine "you know Shariff used to get into all kinds of shit before he joined the nation of Islam....."?) . It's called Karma people. She sneak visits. She's cold. She's real.
