This will be really helpful to lots of people Ian. Your KZbin channel was the first one we subscribed to AFTER buying our very first caravan in October 19. We were on a low budget for our van as we had no idea we would enjoy caravanning as much as we do, and a video like this is very handy. We will upgrade in a few years as you have done yourself. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Your experience is invaluable x keep the videos coming when you get chance x

Thank you very much Lynda. If it helps just one person then job done. I enjoy putting these videos together... I guess you could say I have turned caravan mad. Best thing we ever did was getting our £400 caravan up and running then upgrading to the Bailey. It changed our life for the better. Just wish we could get away again and enjoy our 3rd new to us caravan. 2 trips in then all on hold.... roll on and end to COVID-19.

@@ForTheLoveOfCaravans it becomes a big hobby doesn't it and we've met ..or virtually met..loads of really nice people through it XX I was wondering if the storage yard people would notice if we kipped in our van tonight 😄 I'm sure we will all be out and about soon meeting up and causing bother x. Thanks again

Good tips and advice there Ian .I would advise aswell when buying a caravan for the first time start with a low budget one first so u can get the feel of a van and what works for u so if the van is not the rite layout u won't loses or much money if u need to charge it .kev

Hi Steve, buying used to see if you like the lifestyle is the way to go as you lose to much on a new caravan. I am confident you will love it. Best think Clare and I did was getting a caravan. 10+ holidays a year... what's not to like about that?

@@ForTheLoveOfCaravans north wales is ok but rather quiet Ian. Waiting to fling open it's borders and welcome everyone. The A55 is having a facelift ready for the onslaught too. Creating havoc in Flint at the moment as it's on the division route for truckies coming over on the ferry. But hey ho, the warm welsh welcome will always be here whenever we're open again. Take care....Yvonne.

Great tips thank you. I’ll be looking for a secondhand caravan next spring so your videos are really helpful. I’ve seen a few caravans I like at the right price but the dealer is 2 hours drive from me! I’ve heard it’s better to find a dealer close to home just in case there’s a warranty issue. What would you advise?

How much are caravan engineers to help you check a caravan? Some caravans we’ve seen this afternoon you could hardly stand in due to the smell

Hello Ian let me quickly explain our situation....we used to caravan but also love narrowboating....at the moment, just before lockdown, we bought our second boat (old but new to us!!). I have finally confessed to my ever so patient hubbie, that I really really miss my caravan. As a result - as it's now just the 2 of us, we would like to buy an older van to love again. Do you have any advice as it will be an older van??!!
@ForTheLoveOfCaravans4 жыл бұрын
Hi... my number one tip would be, buy a damp meter. Better still hire a caravan engineer to give the caravan the once over. Damp is a killer to get repaired, our 2nd caravan cost over a grand to repair the damp around the front windows. Don't buy with your heart, buy with your head. Oh and if a offer looks to good to be true it probably is. I did do a scammer vlog if you look in our videos. Hope and wish you well in your search and here's to many great memories. If I can help anymore please feel free to ask. Ian...

@@ForTheLoveOfCaravans Hi thanks - we do have a damp meter and it was worth it's weight in gold with a van we were buying a few years ago! I do prefer to buy from a dealer but we are looking at under £5000 this time so will have to keep looking for suitable places. Where we bought from previously has more high end caravans. Thanks for you advice - much appreciated.

Here is a question from someone who is interested in getting into caravans - which manufacturers have the worst customer service and whose caravans have monsoon leaks? My research leads to Swift but experts are welcome to correct me.
@ForTheLoveOfCaravans3 жыл бұрын
You hear a lot of horror stories about all manufactures but I have owned Bailey and a now a Swift caravan. I am probably a bit bias towards Swift as our caravan feels so much better made than some of the Bailey caravans. As for leaks well... I hear more leak problems from Bailey than I do about any other manufacturer. Like cars you either get a good one or a bad one. It's about our desire for more and more kit inside of caravans that a compromise has had to be made in terms of quality. More good stuff = more weight. More weight = thinner and cheaper materials. Bailey do involve the buying public and consult them more than any other. They also embrace us the KZbin community and creators.
