loved my rs125 2 stroke 36hp................if i ll ever own a street bike again will be a 125rs or 250rs, will only use occasionally n therefore not spending on them shit loads of cash but still loads of fun when opening the throttle without reaching dangerous speed of sound.

Clearly he's a 4 stroke afficionado who doesn't appreciate the characteristics of the bike's performance or handling, instead focussing upon superficial fluff. WTF is looking at the panel on a two stroke in motion?! The instrument you predominantly scan is the tach, and even then audio feedback is adequate unless you are trying to extract every last bean into the cup. Not owner pride. I don't own an Aprilia RS but have ridden with plenty and ridden one. I do own and ride an RGV250T an RG500 Gamma. Rubbish 'review'. 'Bout the only thing he got absolutely right was don't buy one primarily as a commuter' (paraphrased). Think of this type of bike as a rapier compared to a broadsword or sabre and you'll get the gist.
@thatwolffe38025 жыл бұрын
uhhh so you are saying as a rapier its only useful for one thing and thats thrusting through small gaps, but even then the sabre does thrusting better and can also do slashing.

While these are awesome (and a young kid in the neighborhood had a 06 RS50 back in the early 00s that I got to putter around on a couple times lol), can these really be called an Aprilia if they're powered by Suzuki? 🤔 (I still want one, and if I had a disposable 10k, there's one for sale near me, and I'd definitely scoop it up 😅)

@@MrGutfeeling i've had mine since new in 2002, now 2020 and still reliable.....what oil/ brand of fuel were you using? in Australia it's a known thing to never use Shell unleaded in 2 strokes coz' they'll seize.
@MrGutfeeling3 жыл бұрын
@@MrKdr500 I used to use Shell Advance 2T fully synthetic oil and a couple of others I've forgotten the name of, I now use Penrite which seems really good. Fuel-wise I wasn't aware of problems with Shell though it is not my preferred fuel. My preference is BP 98 followed by Shell 98 or Caltex 98, for some reason the BP is noticeably better for me, the Shell fuel just doesn't feel to have the same ooomph. I stay away from Mobil as they use 're-cleaned' airline fuel or some-such which resulted in the destruction of many car engines about 10 years ago.

Throwing the seat away like that was a bit rude. He obviously didn't know it can be stored within the cavernous storage area! Also, it is far from "awful" under 6,000rpm. Perhaps there was an issue with this one. I can't disagree with it being a pain in traffic, but that should be obvious for any full-on sportsbike.

Purchase price seems like a bargain to me. It's the running costs that are the killer.
@theblytonian39069 жыл бұрын
+Ivor Massiveone Spoken like a true mythologist. Running costs for a two-stroke are cheap. Servicing is virtually nil, and maintenance is simple. Use good quality oil to make sure the power valves stay clean. Only servicing required between piston kits are replacement plugs and air filter cleaning. Nikasil bores mean two piston kits at spec intervals are pretty much all that's needed. No valves or timing chain BS. Head (& cylinder if necessary) removal is easy peasy. Buy oil in bulk (5 litre). Bikes like the RS and RGV use synthetics so consumption is low. Remember, these aren't tourers intended to cover 1200km a day or 6-12 hours at a stretch . They are point and shoot adrenalin fueled excitment machines which guarantee more grins per km than anything that isn't actually airborne.
