Mr Tregos, I am. 78 year old woman who was raised by an abusive (physical and mental) father. I and my older sister often talked about how we wished we had had a brother who could have helped us kill our father. So when the Mendenez trial was happening, I shared with many people, who were appalled, when I told them I understood why the brothers did what they did. Only those who had experienced similar circumstances understood and still understand.

I understand the shame silence and suffering you went through. My son was abused by his father and it affects everyone. My first reaction was to shoot my ex. Children don't make stuff like that up and a mother needs to be a protective. I let the law deal with it. 🙏💗🕊️

Times have changed. Back then a lot of things were kept behind the family door. Trauma wasn't spoken about like it is now. Emotions weren't expressed, they were suppressed which equalled Depressed. So I'm glad times have changed and that these brothers are set free ❤

This is what worries me the most. It's very unlikely that his sons and Roy Rossello were the only victims of Jose Menendez. Especially in Menudo. It had a sinister reason why Jose was so interested in that particular boyband. I wonder, how many more victims are out there too afraid or ashamed to come forward ?

I am the mother of a son who was repeatedly sexually abused by his own father until age 3 when I found out. Unlike kitty I believed my toddler, although shellshocked,and called CPS. I have had thoughts of "offing" my ex but I'm humbled by my now adult son, who would rather forgive than harm. My son has been negatively affected by his trauma it will never go away. I think the brothers have paid enough time and should be free. 🙏❤️🕊️

I am almost 60 yrs old . I am a victim of sexual abuse. I was 9-13 yrs old. It has taken me most of my life and numerous therapy visits to put my life together. Because of the lack of knowledge back when I was abused I feel is the reason it's taken soo long. Unfortunately I'm not the only one! I feel people my age are the ground breaking group for the future . A lot has changed since the 70s. No one knew how to handle any of this, hush /silence is how it was dealt with! To all who have suffered like myself.. be strong, share, educate and survive with a better tomorrow! Totally in support of the brothers!!! ❤

I've seen and heard people talk about this, and a big thing is.they are constantly referred to as boys. Even lyk did it a few times. It feels very manipulative. I see people saying that abuse ,sa covers for people everything that's why it's used as an excuse so often. You can't ask questions if they've done anything we don't understand, abuse. People believe they were abused but wanted the money, and that opinion can't be voiced cause abuse stops all questions . I believe they served their time, but I understand all of these points I see being made also.

I will be 60yo soon. I remember the case when it was happening in real time. I was sickened by the outcome and the denial that the public and the judicial system were in at the time. I have so much pain around this case that I refused to watch any shows or documentaries about it because it just left me feeling demoralized and powerless. These men were brutalized and fought back out of their own need for safety. They had no other option. As we all experienced, help was not available in or outside of their family. They should be out of prison. I also remember thinking that prison was actually a safer place than home was and that brought me some comfort.

Free the Menendez brother, sentenced to time served as it's no longer in the interest of justice to confine them. They aren't a threat to anyone else, they are extremely unlikely to ever do anything like this again, and it serves no purpose except punishment to continue their incarceration when they are rehabilitated by all accounts. If the justice system is truly about rehabilitation and restitution, and not simply punitive they should be released. I'd live next door to them comfortably.

I believe them. It's time they have some peace in their life. They've done their time 35 years - after being tortured by their father and ignored by their mother. Although I can't understand why they did what they did .. they hadn't developed enough yet to understand the ramifications. They wanted it to end, and that's why they splashed the cash. Unfortunately, that was never going to heal the pain inflicted on them.

To see the family and know that the corrections officers who were their keepers for so many years testify to their rehabilitation was remarkable. Isn't this the purpose of prison to rehabilitate? I absolutely agree that there should be a re-sentencing. And, anyone else in their situation for that matter. It's just too much to lock people away for the rest of their lives and believe that 'some' people can't be rehabilitated. If the system spent more time trying to rehabilitate people, instead of just forgetting about them after conviction, I think we could save a lot of money, have more people working and paying taxes, and into social security, and our prisons wouldn't be so full that they keep letting criminals back on our streets, or put people on drugs back on the streets to commit crimes to keep up with their addictions, instead of requiring them to enter drug programs before being released to society. I just lost my brother last weekend to an overdose. And, if he would've been put into a drug treatment program before being let out of prison after knowing that was the only reason that he was there or them violating him again and again with no help, my brother most likely would be alive today. The system NEVER tried to help, even when asked. They just want the money for each person in prison!! It's disgusting!

I had to go in with a hardened look and a hardened heart if you will. That is amazing that high-ranking correctional officers were saying they would not mind if they were their neighbors! They got upset an murdered 2 people. In cold blood and blamed it on gangsters. They are good in prison. They are finally helping people, leave them there. I was abused as a boy also and I thought about this action hundreds of times, feeling I would be justified. But I'd be in prison and not have the media come to my defense.

Wow! My dad was a CO and from my perspective the fact that they have guards writing on their behalf is HUGE. Not only because I know from experience they can be (fairly) paranoid, they have excellent BS detection, and the guards probably know who the guys currently are the best of anyone. They were with them day in and out for all these years. That they were abused alone didn't make me feel like the sentence should be reconsidered. MANY people are horrifically abused and don't murder anyone. It can be a consideration in some cases for sure...but anyone who solves problems with premeditated murder would have to meet an incredibly high standard of rehabilitation for me to feel safe with them in society. Sometimes abuse ruins the victim's ability to form empathy and a conscience. It's heartbreaking, but letting those people out to create more victims isn't right. In their case, it sounds like they have done a lot of rehabilitation. I was still on the fence until I heard the COs would welcome them in their neighborhood...now I'm completely in support if they have a good transition team and a period of some kind of supervision. Mandated therapy or something like that. ...it seems like that would be helpful for anyone getting out after a long sentence.

No, you don’t get inheritance or insurance policies or anything when you’ve been put in jail for those crimes to get that money. And that is what people say they did for the money. Whether that is what actually happened or what we actually believe that’s how it came down so they got nothing. They will have nothing moneywise when they get out if they get out.

In Spokane, Wa we have one of the best Veterans Court Systems in the United States. Our recidivism rate is so low that other states model programs on ours. We should have more programs like this to reset the lives of these people. I believe they were victims but the people who knew or suspected did not speak out. Maybe different mindset then but no excuse to not have called their Father and Mother out.

I followed this case closely; I was a baby D.A. in Cal at the time. There was never a question in my mind that both were SA victims. However, there's a reason the 2 trials were so different & the reason is Lyle's statements to the girl on the outside who sa8d she was going to write a book. She taped him. He was ridiculous throughout (he really "snowed the jury 1st time & will again," etc.). And, actually, Lyle was very compelling during 1st trial. Given all the statements that would come out at 2nd trial as impeachment, Lyle simply could not testify at 2nd trial. So many evidentiary issues had different rulings between trials 1 & 2. Re: Mark Geragos ... no comment! Nothing is ever as simple as any one version makes it out. Having said all that, I never thought they were a danger to wider society, but rather only to their parents. 30ish years in custody is probably plenty; if they received re-sentencing, no doubt CTS & released.
@annm9589
@annm9589 3 ай бұрын
Yes, its not like he did not have a choice to testify in the second trial. It is his own words as impeachment material that prevented him from doing so (probably strongly suggested by counsel). IMO they will likely be resentenced. Will they be able to write their own story once out?

I watched the drama on Netflix so my view is likely tainted, but I feel horrible for these guys. Their upbringing was torture. They got 5 to 7 months of freedom from the abuse. Arrested Went through 2 horrible trials where they needed to relive all that trauma Got sentenced to life without parole And then got separated. They have never known stability or a normal life outside institutionalization. Idk that if they get released, they'll be ok.
