I recently had the opportunity to give a special presentation about Meniere's disease and tinnitus to a Meniere's disease support group that meets weekly via Zoom.
(If you are interested in joining the weekly Zoom Meniere’s support group meetings, you can join the Facebook group here: / 1009975689623729 )
In this wide ranging talk, I discussed many topics:
My personal struggles with Meniere's disease
The difficulty in finding a compassionate and knowledgable specialist
My top strategies for Meniere's sufferers
The importance of hope and why I believe that every Meniere's sufferer should have hope.
How I found relief from tinnitus
My work with nearly 1000 tinnitus patients all over the world
And so much more!

I was taken to the hospital the first time I had an attack. They gave me meclizine for the vertigo and put me through all the usual tests, for stroke, heart attack, etc. - all negative. I learned quickly to recognize when I had an episode starting, and took a meclizine with a glass of water. This has saved me from so much because I recognized that salt was a trigger.

It's like hearing my self explaining how it begun, except my was directly from a major spin episode, know after 10 years its is exactly the same tinnitus, one side hearing lose and some imbalance backwards or when I close eyes... But like you I had try to over come and become open water swimmer, diver and trekking to mountains... but still without any clue on what to expect over the years and how to care my self especially tinnitus if it degrades mentally.... I am 60 now and not willing to settle for doing nothing!

For me at least, having Tinnitus is a my bodies guide telling when things are good or getting bad. When you're going through a diagnosis it can be difficult. Because trying to find a pattern in your life that replicates your symptoms is nearly impossible. Salt is so littered in most our food it's disgusting and having a high sodium diet cause much more problems then Meniere's. Drinking lots of water helps. We can limit our sodium intake but keeping your body hydrated really helps the body flush out sodium. You can let it pass through faster if you're peeing more frequently. If you like Coffee as much as I do then drinking lots of water is a must.

Interesting prednisone does nothing for mine. And I have POTS so was always told to eat tons of salt, so this is opposite of what I'm supposed to do with meniere's. lol

Are you doing alright? You have not posted videos in a year - was wondering how your ear issues and balance are doing? Hopefully you’re just living life to the fullest and have no desire to make the videos.

I disagree that the sickest people are the ones making content in the chronic illness communities. These people have to be well enough to video, edit and publish content. People with severe MECFS cannot even look at a phone for instance. Interestingly I have found that the media usually showcase the disabled that "don't let their illness get them down". From my short time looking at the Meniere's community, there seems to be a lot of health coaches, chiropractors and natural health types that think they have the answers. It's a lot different from the MECFS and POTS community.
