Last week I saw Dr. Jamali for a second opinion of my knee issues. I specifically sought him out due to his experience with sports related injuries. Thankfully he had a little more to offer me.

Cody, First- your eyebrows seem to be thickening up really well! Not that I care- just a noticeable change this video. Second- have you asked if you OWN the OR room yet? I’d love to know how many times you’ve been under the knife 🤐 🔪 Third- meniscus implant would be a really good option. I’ve seen them done in our OR here before and it’s really a neat process. I personally would hold off on getting a partial or full replacement till you are older. They do a lot of testing and pathology to try to prevent rejection. The only advice I have for you would be to BABY that meniscus until it’s fully healed & then kinda take it easy even then. It’s a really super good option for you! Really excited for you !!!! #ballscomingsoon 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

Hey thank you!! That is so cool you have gotten to see the transplants being done. I definitely plan to baby that meniscus afterwards. It does make me a bit sad to know someone had to have died for me to get it. It is also strange for me to think how anyone could have not torn their meniscus lol

Hahah I can see that but maybe it will help others see the reason that some make that selfless decision to donate so that someone else’s life could be complete or with less pain!

So sorry you have to go through this again. Like you've said, having experienced things already does not mean it gets any easier. BUT I know you can do this and you will come out of it even stronger! Hopefully, you still have lots of great years of being competitive ahead of you!

I’m so glad you got a second opinion! While the meniscus transplant sounds thoroughly fascinating, it also sounds less invasive than a partial or full knee replacement. Either way, I hope it works out for the best for you, my friend. Even though the recovery sounds like a huge bummer, it seems like it might be worth it. Good luck! Keep going! You’re almost there. :) Hugs!

Seems like the best option at this time. I have friends that have had partial, and they don't walk as well as my friends that had full knee replacements, (F.Y.I.). The meniscus transplant might be your solution. I'm praying for ya Bro! Recovery time from any injury stinks, but is a necessary pain in the ass!

I know how you feel. I’m 22 had 80% of my lateral meniscus removed 2.5 years ago due to a soccer injury. Never been able to run since. Love working out too had to stop squatting altogether in fact training quads altogether. Now I’m going to have to stop deadlifts too due to the pain. This injury completely ruined my life so I am going to try get a meniscus transplant just to relieve pain for a few years. Hopefully you might have a chance at a semi decent life for a few more years, hang in there mate!

@@Codytalks11 well, in 2014-15 before the surgery it was 8/10, it was imposible to me to do Sports, after the surgery the level of pain was decreasing to 0, it takes about one year of rehabilitation. From june 2016, and entire 2017 i play football without pain. Now usually i have some pain like 1 of 10. I think it is related with my cartilage health. In my experience, i recomend the surgery. My technic was transplant with bone bridge.

Sorry, I came to you without prior knowledge, since you had a meniscus transplant before. I want to know whether it is useful, whether your knee has improved, and do you advise me on this procedure, knowing that I am having a partial meniscus removal of about 50%, and I also do not feel severe pain and I can only go up and down the stairs. Some numbness
@Codytalks11
@Codytalks11 4 ай бұрын
So I haven't actually had a meniscus transplant but it has been recommended to me. That being said, I don't know that I would recommend it if you don't have severe pain because the fail rate of the transplant is pretty high and then you are kinda screwed with the only option left being a knee replacement.

i’ve gotta admit, i got a pretty weird mental image when you talked about doing a knee “cut and paste” lol. in all seriousness though, it’s awesome to hear when you find doctors that seem to actually be good at what they do...whether it means acknowledging that your goal in relieving knee pain is not to just abandon all fitness and bodybuilding stuff, and all the phallo and phallo-related medical stuff too. 👍🏼

Cody, I have a very similar situation. I have had three medial meniscus surgeries first two were attempted repairs both failed. The third was 80% removal. Still a lot of pain cant walk well, cant do up or down hill stairs, cant run etc... as you may know. I just got proposed a transplant surgery and am pending a bone scan. Have you gone thru with the surgery if so how do you feel? I'm sorry i just youtube searched and this popped up. Ill like and subscribe, i really hope to hear back and i hope its gotten a lot better for you.

Hi there! So sorry you are In the same situation! I just had stage one of a stage two knee surgery ( high tibial osteotomy) recovery has been rough but my doc wouldn’t do the transplant without doing the HTO first. Has your doc talked about an HTO?
@hectorparada1751
@hectorparada1751 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply, no mention of HTO (ill have to google). I just had my follow up on 7/1/19 and that was his first mention of the transplant. I'm in law enforcement, so my current thoughts are a transplant is kind of a temporary fix. I'm only 30, and I'm more concerned with having continuous issues due to my job. To be honest i was hoping for a knee replacement and kind of solve my issues for longer than a handful of years. Re: the HTO (after brief google search lol), how long is your expected recovery time, and well is it or has it been more painful (can you function walk sit basic movements) than before surgery? Thanks a ton for sharing your experience.

Hector Parada I am only 3 weeks post op so I am still on crutches but, unfortunately no one will do a knee replacement on a 30 year old. They only last about 10-15 years so that is why they do all they can to delay it. I’ll make sure to keep the update videos on it coming. It’s been a painful one so far but hopefully worth it in the end.

Well you may feel like Humpty Dumpty right now, but once all the kings horses and all the kings men are done with you, you will be put together again! Seriously, I am not making fun of your plate being so full right now, just trying to lighten things up. Personally, I think once your jingle balls are in place and things start settling down, the weight on your shoulders will lighten. No surgery is pleasant, and taking extra time to recover and build muscle again may not have been your first choice, but at least by the time you get to where you are ready to compete, this stuff will be behind you. By the time you get ready to compete again, surely you will be a force to be reckoned with. Hope my attempt at the positive at least makes you smile. :)

Good lawd. But sidenote, I am sorry about the knee and you are way too young to have a partial/full replacement. I hope the miniscus donor works out. You do have jingle-balls-a-comin so that's something to look forward to. Stay strong.
