Early childhood educator here! There’s so much pressure on kids to be able to read sooo young. Knowing all your letters and numbers and all those academics before starting school is not the most important thing we look for in determining if they’re ready. If they know a little, that’s good and well, but it’s FAR more important at that age to be able to meet those gross motor and social developmental milestones. The work of early childhood is play - I promise, the academics will come in time 🙂

My mom was a single Mennonite mom who worked hard to keep me in Christian school, dentist, glasses & a summer trip on a regular basis! When our family was young our main vacation, since we live in Canada, was always having to go to the States to visit family in Michigan & Penn. We didn't really have money or time to go off to a destination of our choice. But we did have fun camping! I found when starting our kids off to school both of the girls at age 5-6 did well & our boys started age 6-7. I said I was never going to homeschool! Never say never! I had 5 nevers & have done 4 of them! It was out of necessity. & I did it for 8 years. Enjoy your families while they're home. Them starting school is just the 1st step in leaving the nest & moving on as we hope & train them to. now we take the motorhome & have mini vacation weekends with 2-me & my man! Good job to both you ladies & for the good mike setup.

Good morning ladies! I love watching your show and i just enjoy watching you online. I am definitely in a different season of life with my two daughters around your ages. My husband of 34 years had some serious health challenges, so I care for him while working outside my home full time. My show suggestion would be if your Moms would agree to appear on your show and I would be curious about their season of life and how their daily routines are. Just a suggestion, but one I'd love to hear their stories! Thanks you guys for keeping it real and sharing your lives with us! You both are doing a fantastic job!

We kept an overnight bag packed in the trunk of our car so if we wanted a quick overnight trip, we could go without too much fuss! Sometimes we would leave on a Friday afternoon, pick a direction…and drive…and end up with a little adventure. As our boys got older, a large blanket in the trunk was all we needed…Sometimes a McDonalds play place was enough of an outing after being cooped up in the house all day! I'm a mennonite in Lancaster too!! I would add to the conversation that there is wide variation among mennonites....in my church and conference, college education is much more common than not. It's really hard to pin down us Anabaptists with wide generalizations! My life has similarities to you both, but big differences too. And Megan, I saw you're reading A Year of Biblibal Womanhood by RHE....LOVE her and her thoughts....and curious what you thought. Her book Inspired (about Biblibal inspiration) has helped me tremendously through faith difficulties. I would think her positions are very different than those of your congregation.

I love these Honey I'm Homemaker videos! You and Jana are so fun to watch and have such wisdom to share.I wish I could homeschool my children or found a true Christian school that didn't cost a fortune. My two younger daughters did attend a private Christian school but it was expensive.. I really regret them going to public school.😔 I pray over them and for them each day and trust God to protect them from all the agendas being pushed on them...I especially loved the part with your husbands on today's video..👍to Josh for the sound set-up. He did a great job...I look forward to these videos-October can't get here soon enough.😊💖..I'm not a Mennonite, but I'm a Christian and love the way you live out your convictions to live a life that honors God and how you enjoy your roles as wives and mothers. So many Christian ladies buy into the feminist propaganda and don't appreciate their God-given roles as wives and mothers. It's really sad.The nuclear family is under attack in so many ways. It's nice to see family the way God intended.😊

We made the trek the Yellowstone one of the days, but there is a ton to do in the general area, including the Battle of Little Bighorn, which is a MUST. Love the chat vlogs. It's so fun to hear what you have to say and think about. Josh did great on the set up as prior it was difficult hearing you both clearly. This is perfect. Sound was great from both of you. Excited to hear about the kids first days of school when the next Take care and see you on the next one. Love your videos and always enjoy anything you do. Blessings
