Oh Tammy! I knew you were going to mention anxiety. I dread bedtime because I fall asleep fine after I say my prayers to calm and settle me. But when I wake up to use the bathroom, I try to get back to sleep and can't. My mind races and I worry about everything. Sometimes it takes two hours of tossing and turning to go back to sleep. Then in the morning I feel like I went out drinking the night before. Another is YES to electric shocks. Thank God you said it because no one tells you these things especially not a doctor. I get them in my feet at night all the time. I am on 0.075 mg estradiol patch. I won't take it internally because I plan to take it for the rest of my life and it is safer than oral estradiol regarding the possibility of b Good clots. My quality of life improved greatly because I had every symptom imaginable. I felt dead inside for the longest time. Now I do feel much better but it is not a cure all. Thank you Tammy for talking about this. Check out The New Menapause by Dr. MARY Claire Haver. She talks abouts symptoms and what to do about each one.❤

Morning Tammy! Great topic. I’m a huge advocate of bio HRT. My male gyno prescribed progesterone for me years ago when my PMS was off the charts…migraines, horrific uncontrollable crying and mood swings, and heavy periods. Saved my life. Then when it was time we moved into estrogen. I’ve lived around the world and have seen many doctors to keep my script current. They all told me that the progesterone is what counters the estrogen positively in regard to health risks. I’ve been exercising (cardio and weights) and following a balanced protein/veggie (and pasta😮) heavy diet for basically my entire life. Just had some bloodwork done and it’s flawless. I’m 65 and feel great. For those who can use HRT, highly highly recommend!

I feel amazing now and previously I felt hopeless!

Hello Tammy, very interesting topic. I went through the menopause at 52, I am now nearing 60. I suffered with the most debilitating panic attacks, I just didn’t know what was happening to me, I thought it was my heart. I live in the UK , and my Lovely husband persuaded me to see our GP (General Practitioner). It was the best thing I did, the Dr. Was absolutely amazing he drew me diagrams and took the time to explain to me what was going on. I had a load of blood tests, and other thorough examinations. I went on a small dose of Sertraline and it sorted the problem out. 8 years later and I don’t have any real menopausal symptoms any more, except I’m generally hotter than I rember being. I think I’ve been very lucky, and I’m very appreciative.

Hi Tammy, thanks for putting this together. Very informative so thank you. I started perimenopause about three years ago and I believe I am now in menopause, I have a lot of symptoms and I have had the electrical shock feeling about three times so far. I have a friend who is a bit older than me, she went to an integrative doctor or homeopathic doctor and they suggested grounding for five minutes before she went to bed to help with the electrical shock feeling because she had it much worse than I. It’s been about two months since she has been grounding in her backyard before bed and she said it has helped a ton. Not sure it would work for everybody but it’s worth a shot! in case somebody doesn’t know what it is, it is standing barefoot on any earth surface and allowing the energy in your body to flow And go back into the ground. That probably sounds silly and you’d be best to do your research on grounding but that’s the gist of it. If you try it please let us know if it worked for you at all

Yes! YES! Those frickin comets. I have been going through these electrical shocks for over 10 years now. Much worse at night. I thought it was my SmartMeter. Got it taken out. My neighbor's wifi? Got silver threaded liners for my curtains. Thought it was ochratoxin A mold (in coffee and wine, etc). Got no mold coffee and specialized organic wine. Changed out carpet and windows. Put my stuff in storage for 2 years! Meanwhile, my doc looks at me like I'm nuts and does NOTHING. So it's just menopause?! The rash on the belly. Check. Thought it was shingles. Then a histamine reaction. I took a bunch of pricey vitamins and ate a low histamine diet. It seems to pop up out of nowhere so I check my "histamine bucket" and monitor my intake. Ugh. The one solution I did find was for hot flashes at night in bed. I get up at 2 am almost every night. If I get 6 hours I am relieved but if I ever can manage 8, I am REBORN! Enter the BedJet. Oh baby where've you been all my life? This thing is a life saver. Just be careful where you place it. I swear it gave me gas until I moved it so it wasn't blowing air right on my butt. Bob says it's impossible but... I don't know. I DO know I sleep like a baby with this thing, when it's aimed away from my actual bod. t blows hot or cold and has a timer. Ohhhhhh... finally...sleep. You can even let it get to know your sleep cycle so it can heat or cool when needed. I just have it on for an hour and I'm out. I'm getting up at 4a now and life is good again. Love it. I wish someone had informed me that these shocks are from a hormone imbalance. I have the body of a prepubescent boy and I'm 64 so I'm pretty sure I have NO estrogen at all whatsoever. This could explain everything. Oh Miss Tammy. You did it again. You could be a legit paid advocate for menopausal women dealing with the medical community. I have suffered greatly for over 10 years and not one of my docs gave me this info. Now, what about the vertigo. Any answers there? Some days getting to the mailbox is a real challenge. I zig zag it all the way. :D :D :( Don't tell me. Estrogen. Ugh. How little our "doctors" know about women. It's almost like they didn't bother to even ask.

Just a quick back story, I am 66 years old, had a total hysterectomy like 12 years ago. I have always used a estrogen patch. Last year my GYN has decided it was time to get off of the patch. I tried to wean myself and that is when the already present symptoms got out of hand. I was so hot all the time I could scream. No way to regulate my body temperature. At night I would wake up and it would feel like an adrenaline rush just in my chest around my heart. I didn't feel anxious but this made me feel like I was loosing my mind. All my joints hurt so bad that if I sit for 10 minutes and get up, I am literally cribbled till I get moving. Numbness and shooting nerve pain in my feet and constant tendon inflammation. OMG I feel like I am loosing my mind. I am active. On the go all the time. Every time I walk a long distance or use my rebounder, another tendon becomes inflamed. I finally went back on low dose patch. The hot flashes are better but the joint and tendon pain is still there with vengeance. Thank you so much for all you do.

I had most of the symptoms of menopause for years after having a hysterectomy at age 35. I had to do my own research to figure it out. I blamed some of the symptoms on my thyroid. I watched a pod cast from Marie Claire Haver MD that changed my life and my fear to start treatment. I was lucky to have a gynocologist that supported my decision to start HRT treatment at age 60. I had been using the vaginal cream for several months with great improvement from dryness and skin health frequent night urination and many other symptoms. I started using HRT patch with Progesterone 200mg this past April. That first night of starting the treatment I slept all night. The insomnia I had for YEARS was gone. Since April It also helped lowered my cholesterol, and improved most of my symptoms. I also started weight lifting that improved my osteoporosis on a dexa scan that I had done this past month. Tammy, I feel conversations like this can help so many women with their decision to improve their quality of life. Thanks for sharing.

For reference, I started while still peri-menopausal, one month before my 50th birthday, and am still considered peri; in fact, the hormones JUICED everything up again and now my ovaries think that they're 30. lol I'll be glad, though, to hit that golden "12 month mark" one day soon!

Tammy, this video will help so many women - thank you! To share my journey, I was postmenopausal at 49. I am now 55. I take HRT, oral/pill (Mimvey), and I also use the Estradiol vaginal cream. My menopausal symptoms included night sweats and severe anxiety, depression, and heightened OCD symptoms. The HRT pill (Mimvey) helps keep my mental health issues in check. The vaginal cream is wonderful, and I think all postmenopausal women could benefit from it if they choose to try it. I can also say that even though I have been taking oral HRT for six years, I still had to adjust my diet and increase my strength training because I was beginning to gain weight a few years ago, so I eliminated ultra-processed foods and added sugar from my diet, so the HRT helps but we still must put in the work when it comes to diet and fitness. Also, my skin and scalp are extremely sensitive and dry, so the HRT hasn't seemed to help with that. Additionally, sleep is still a challenge for me. Lastly, my first DEXA that I had in July showed osteopenia, so I have no idea if the HRT has helped with my bone density. All in all, my mental health seems to benefit from the oral HRT, and my vaginal health seems to benefit from the cream, so I plan to continue with both. ❤

I'm in post menopause and have never taken hormone replacement therapy. Both my grandmothers had breast cancer so no doctor will put me on it. I've had all the symptoms you mentioned. I find that each one has its moment and will go away over time. I used to get night sweats but do not have those anymore. I suffered from hives temporarily but nothing major. I've noticed my sleep pattern changed but is now better. My skin was really dry but now not nearly as bad. I'm 59.

So, for me it’s hard to know, since I don’t have a cycle. I randomly had hives last weekend! I couldn’t figure out what happened? I’m so careful with what I use, I have sensitive eczema skin. My face and body have never been this dry. I have started using bakuchiol, it’s helping the lines that appeared. I told my husband, I feel like a raisin. My stomach has always been sensitive, I have IBS. I’m so careful. Now, it’s been showing out too! I’m like you and only take what I absolutely have too. Evening Primrose has helped. Hi Tammy! I had a total hysterectomy at 38 and was put on transdermal estradiol. I started gaining weight so I stopped using it. After that I was having severe palpitations and anxiety. I am now on a 1mg tablet and all seems to be well. Another huge factor in menopause is EXERCISE! Only major symptom I can't change is the dryness down there 🫣 . I wish I were more educated on the importance of hormones before I had my hysterectomy. It had to be done... But I would've been more prepared

Great topic! I have been postmenopausal for 30 years...I just turned 80 in September. I only took HRT maybe a couple years then my Gyn got nervous about them for all his patients and took me off, so I went almost 30 years until my primary put me on compounded vaginal cream, very low dose for atrophic vaginitis. Then 3 years ago this coming May I was diagnosed with breast cancer and my oncologist took me off the vaginal cream and put me on an aromatase inhibitor that's purpose is to get rid of every bit of estrogen and progesterone in my body because my tumor was driven by those hormones. The vaginitis got worse and I started having UTIs constantly with rounds of antibiotics that destroyed my gut. A week ago she let me go back on the estradiol but this time it's a tiny little pill inserted vaginally. I'm feeling better and no UTI this week! Yaaay! While going thru menopause, I had all the side effects/symptoms. It was awful. I thought I would never get thru it! Oh...and the atrophic vaginitis made intimacy impossible!

Hi Tammy-I'm a long time subscriber and follower. I have enjoyed so much of your content through the years. I totally understand the paralysis of over-analysis as I call it. My menopause journey started around age 50 with OAB symptoms. Then, full blown menopause at age 56 with severe hot flashes day and night and very little sleep. I held out on the transdermal patch, but after a few months of having the prescription at home I decided to actually try it. Relief within days! My sleep was immediately improved. Then, the flashes went totally away. I do mean gone, zip, and nada! I did have to get the amount of estradiol increased once and that was not a problem. I didn't even know about the estradiol cream until a few years after starting the patch. It is a game changer! I had dryness & irritation that was much improved by the cream that the patch didn't resolve. Lou is right. You might want to try it. I did my research, too. The cream is localized, not system wide. I wish you all the best and this was my experience.

I will be 65 in January, menopause hit at 48 and it was the worst I'd ever felt, I was referred to one of the pioneers of Bioidenticals here in California, Dr Phillip Warner and he explained why replacing our hormones will PREVENT heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's, bone loss, ect. I also take thyroid hormone. I take sublingual estradiol and testosterone and dermal progesterone. I will take it as long as it is out there, I am a fitness trainer so I have always done lifting, I have never gained weight, sleep fine, no one believes I'm 64, no joint pain, no nothing, all my symptoms went away after getting on Bioidenticals. My friends who are dialed in take it as well and they also have no symptoms. More and more research is coming out that we need those hormones, I am telling my experience and respect others choices, I just hate seeing women needlessly suffer through this. Love your videos!

There is a critical window when you can start HRT. After 10 years post last period it is not recommended. The estrogen receptors are shut down by then. I started it after 2 years post. Some ladies even start in perimenopause because of their symptoms being so bad. I am all about prevention and with a mother with dementia that was my why in addition to the heart and bone protection. I am so grateful I had a gynecologist/oncologist who was not a believer in the old way of thinking that supplementing your hormones was harmful/dangerous. This led me to do a deep dive into the latest science and studies regarding hormone replacement therapy. My firm belief is we need our hormones for optimal overall health and quality of life. I feel our hormones protect our bodies. Menopausal symptoms are the bodies way of telling us we are deficient. It’s important to follow the new studies and science regarding women’s hormones and their health ❤

Thank goodness my Doctor was up on the HRT research, and told me I'd be good to take them. It has been great for me, no more symptoms, and I feel good. I do have an overall history of Cancer in my family, and I also have very dense breast tissue, so I do get sent for regular breast exams. So far all good. 🙂 I have recently been hearing that using a pea size amount of Estradiol cream can help with facial and neck wrinkles. I'll definitely be doing more research on that... 🙂

Hi Tammy, I’m almost 68 and a year ago today I had a total hysterectomy because of uterine cancer. Thankfully it was in the early stages and I needed no other treatment. God’s grace and peace was what carried me through and still does. I was on HRT for 12 years and loved how I didn’t suffer with any symptoms of menopause. Up until the last year or so I used a compounded bio-identical vaginal cream, progesterone and a little testosterone. Then I started using the patch, it was cheaper. I weighed about 110 and was walking and strength training. The Dr. oncologist said it was probably from too much estrogen. I had blood work every 6 months so not sure how it was missed. I suffer now with hot flashes, sleep issues and osteopenia. I wish I could use estrogen again but the oncologist said no. I forgot to mention that I was going to an integrated functional women’s doctor in California that I loved, she is so knowledgeable and caring, but then we moved out of state after my husband retired a few years ago I didn’t really search for the doctor that was right for me. Not sure why I decided to comment, I still think HRT is a good option for women.
