This seems like the first HONEST review of these Doops. Most reviewers don't seem to really WANT to make them work at their full potential. You switched frames and made it work great

Thank you! Yeah, with the right frame, it's fun to ride those Doops. Fun _and_ practical. 🙂

I’m honestly considering getting a pair of these now 😅 This video is probably the best advocacy for the Doops skates

Sounds like a great idea! If I didn't have my Doops yet, I'd have bought the new Shadows for grinding _and_ commuting. 🙂

Big thanks! 🤘 Due to the many hills, Brussels is a great city for rollerblading. Still have to go there for a big urban sesh - lots of staircases I want to ride. 😊

Had a similar problem with shock absorption on my Xsjado skates. A made a pretty easy and cheap modification which helped some. I just ordered a sheet of 1/8inch thick neoprene rubber 65a from amazon and cut it to fit on top of the sole plate and held it in place with a 3m command strip in the middle.

Ah, good idea! I think I’m gonna start wearing shoes with thicker soles. 😅

MAAAAN this is exactly the kind of skates I want. I wish there were more options for boots like this, because I just can't justify 300 for the doops, and then also replace the frames.

Yeah, it would suck to buy it all new and all at once. But the original 3x100 isn't _that_ bad. I've used for more than a year. It gets you where you need to be, it's just not a setup I very much enjoy. With that Endless 100 frame, I _really_ started enjoying my Doops, but there are other options as well. For example: the Kizer Flux frame, which is way cheaper than an Endless frame. Or maybe you can find a secondhand Trinity frame you like? Now, what I also often do, is use regular skates in combination with shoes that slip on and off easily and don't take up much space in my backpack. That also works for commuting. 🙂

If only you were allowed to Doop all the way to the train, you would've had plenty of time. Super dope video!!
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor Жыл бұрын
Thank you! 🤘 Yeah, would be cool to be allowed to roll onto the train itself, but I can understand they'd rather people on wheels away from trains. One slight mishap in combination with an arriving or a departing train could have very serious consequences. 😅

Are they supportive enough? Like can you do wizard thingies and jumps on them? Doop skates got me really curious on them. I maybe one day swap my hard boots for one.
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor Жыл бұрын
Hmmm, the honest answer is: no. They’re fun for riding, basic wizard stuff and small jumps, but they’re most certainly not as supportive as a hard boot. I wouldn’t do stair rides with these. The big advantage is how fast you can lace up, but that comes with a price.
@JayHeartwing

@@TheRollingRaptor Ahh I see. You do have a point. I guess I still keep my boots on, and maybe someday to earn a doop boot only ones for commuting purposes. BTW, thanks for giving me the info. Awesome video as always

Hi there! Which size do you recommend if my European size is 43? I heard that there is a version up to 42 and the one that is from 42-49 but i heard some people squizzed their feet in the 42 one.. how big are your feet?
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor 29 күн бұрын
My feet are EU size 42, 268mm mondo. I'd recommend the Doop 43-49, which also is the one I've got (when I bought it, I still mistakenly believed I had a size 43). I don't regret my choice. The reason being: shoes. It's more comfortable to skate with shoes that have thicker soles and thicker soles are often slightly wider. It'd be a shame to have to skate with shoes that barely provide any shock absorption. I hope this clarifies things a bit?

How are these doops still holding up the buckles not breaking or anything?
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor 5 ай бұрын
They're still holding up fine! There is some wear on the buckles, but I can still tighten them up. I've recently recorded another video with my Doops and I'm also going to upgrade them from 4x100 to 3x110. Coming up ... well, not _really_ soon, but soon enough. ;-)

Are these suitable for beginners? What type of shoes can you wear with these?
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor Жыл бұрын
They are certainly suitable for beginners! Sneakers work great, but I prefer (low) walking shoes from Decathlon, with a thick sole that’s not wide. The thick sole acts as a shock absorber. But if the sole’s too wide, the shoe doesn’t fit inside the exoskeleton.

I've got doops and an endless90 frame on them, for some reason, after 45-60 minutes, the cuffs on both start digging into my outer shins. Anything like that happening to anyone else?
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor Жыл бұрын
I've heard a similar complaint from a fellow skater. I also felt it (but mildly) during my first two skate flows with the Doops. Now the pain's (long) gone. I reckon it's the "liner" on the exoskeleton that has to break in. In the beginning it's very hard, but after a few rides, it adapts to your legs. What could possibly help - what I'm now going to say is more speculation than actual science - is that you use shoes with thicker soles. When I first started riding Doops, I was wearing sneakers with a rather thin sole. That meant: no heel raise and no shock absorption. I soon switched over to (simple) running shoes with a thicker sole. The heel raise and shock absorption made riding the Doops much more comfortable. Maybe you're wearing shoes with a thin sole as well? Could be the lack of heel raise makes you push your shins into the cuff. If you're already wearing a shoes with a thick sole, then it's just a matter of time for that liner material to break in.

@@TheRollingRaptor I bought some slip on Vans and last week and I guess it kinda helps. I can see (and maybe agree a bit) that a break-in period is an idea. They ARE starting to feel a bit better.

@@ravenouspathogen Glad to hear that! I’ve ridden my Doops several times the last couple of days, and yesterday even did 17.5km with them, and they didn’t hurt one bit. So I think you can be pretty confident it’ll get better over time.
