I've struggled with depression for years, and like you, find that comparing it to a physical illness like asthma makes it much easier to explain to people who don't understand. Really loved watching this video, makes the journey to wellness so much easier when you hear people like yourself being so open and positive :) xxx

I love this video and the fact that you speak so openly and positively about mental illness ❤️ I had depression 2 years ago, and only now do I feel comfortable enough to start talking about it. I wish I had found you're KZbin channel around that time, because as you said, knowing you're not alone does the world of good. Thank you for this video x

I have anorexia and depression and I can honestly say that reaching out for help was the best thing i've ever done. it is a tough long process and as much as i wish for it to go away, it's not as simple as that and that's something many people don't understand. I hope you're doing okay maddie, love you lots xxx

I remember when I first came across one of your videos, it was a morning routine. throughout the video I was strolling through the comments and I saw one saying 'stay strong' along side many others and it made me realise I'm not actually alone before then I felt suicidal everyday, and 3 months after I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I also self-harmed for over two years bordering 3 , i was sectioned and went into was in a psychiatric ward for a couple weeks. I know there is a very slim chance of you reading this but I just want to say thank you so much for all of the hard work you out into your videos and always put a smile on my face whenever I'm down.

Loved this ! I've had a manager tell me when I used to work when I finally told her I suffered from panic attacks/depression/anxiety, that there's no need for medication she didn't agree with it, she also told me when I left because of stress, that she would not of took me on if she knew I suffered, I think it's so inappropriate for people to say things like that and it did really upset me ! I'm struggling to find a new job now or college because not many employers are so understanding and just write you off completely which I think is so unfair ! I'm 18 next month &all I want to do is be able to work and be successful but due to having a tough year &stress I can't right now which is hard:( I'm glad you made this video and felt able to talk about stuff and be open, and it has helped me in little bits, thank you lots of love xxxx

But what if your family don't understand? I went to hospital last year ish for depression but I was way too scared to open up. After a while my mum brushed me off and just told me to stop attention seeking... So how can I feel better when I have no one to talk to? And how do I explain something I don't understand myself??!

Thank you so much for this, I think it helps so much for someone to be open because it allows you to find similarities, whether lots or a few, which somewhat gives you a bit of peace of mind even if its only for a little while. It takes a lot to be that open! I doubt anyone has ever really read my blog, but I started writing about my depression and anxiety recently. I have only written 3 posts and it is all pretty basic but if anyone would like to check it out I'd appreciate it and if it helps anyone or is an interesting read that would be such a bonus. I use it as a way to vent and hopefully I can look back and see how I have improved or where I haven't and still need to. Here it is: hannahlewisblog.wordpress.com/ Thank you again Maddie!
