I feel the league is majorly overlooked, when some of the best games I've watched have been from the Scottish leagues. The Dundee Derby game was probably the best game I've watched outside celtic this season so far. That goal line clearance from Pawlett? to keep it 1-0 was tasty stuff 👍

First time I’ve seen your blog. Really impressed. Did I hear right about your comment regarding the New Firm. It was Utd and Aberdeen. Wee Jim was our manager and Sir Alex Ferguson, pre-Man Utd days. We were known by the media as the New Firm. Both teams regularly played in Europe. Utd won the league, were Champions League finalist & Europa League runners up. An amazing history. I seem to recall Wee Jim writing a book entitled “Jousting with Giants.”

I love your enthusiasm. Great video. As a footnote when Fabritzio Ravanelli briefly played for Dundee, he said it would be insane to walk down Tannadice Street as he feared they would get "torn apart". He was astounded to find that his status drew handshakes from fans of both clubs. He was I think overwhelmed by the experience. Although it is a passionate derby inside, once out of the ground, people generally the result and the banter seldom if ever leads to trouble.

But yeah I started supporting United at four years old because I loved the VG Adidas strip in 88 and have been a die hard my whole life. I've had an Irish flag at a few matches too lol

Hi Sam, I know you're into history so you'll be aware of D.Utd's achievements in the 80s. I'm not a DU fan but they had a great team in those days. I enjoyed watching them even though I support a different team. They're also the only Scottish team who have played Barca 4 times in European competitons and won all 4 including twice in the Nou Camp. No Scottish team will ever equal or beat that piece of history!

@@FootyAdventures Yeah Jim McLean was a genius, he built that team that beat Barcelona from nothing. They really should have won the UEFA Cup that year but lost to Gothenburg in the Final. The 2nd leg was 1-1 after a 1-0 defeat away. The 2nd leg was played 4 days after the Scottish Cup Final (which DU also lost). The SFA should have moved that Cup Final to the weekend after the UEFA 2nd leg to give them time to prepare, but they've never been known for using common sense!!

Thanks Matt, I'm glad you're enjoying the content. The highlands is a special place for football to be fair! MK Dons were a local team of mine growing up. Their game v Wimbledon is certainly an interesting one given the history of the clubs! It's basically Wimbledon 1.0 v Wimbledon 2.0!

Hope you enjoyed the game one of the lower quality Dundee derbies I have been to but atleast Dundee United won. You should have sat in the Eddie Thompson stand or the Shed for better atmosphere I was in the shed!
