Tom Hanks is probably the only non-Brit we'd be okay about playing The Doctor. Having said that, one of the reasons he'd be popular is ironically because of his understanding of the character and what he means to us. Forget shedding and drooling as reasons to not share a bed with a dog, greyhounds are quite likely to be lactose and/or gluten intolerant. I have to share a "bed" with ours in our caravan in the summer. Even feeding him gluten-free food, he still farts all night! I knew I was tasty to mozzies! I get eaten alive! Actually, so does my dog. Poor thing.

Re: Mosquitoes...they loved my dad. Not me. While out camping-campfire the smoke would always come to people sitting around it. Most everyone moved. I didn't and became like smoked meat. I stunk of smoke and so did my clothes. No washing for 10 days=length of canoe trip. I did not get bit once. I am thinking the smoke drives them away. Those that washed and were perfumed up got bitten. Native peoples always had campfires and no smelly soaps. Pretty sure they did not suffer either. . Re "The Doctor" keep him British as most actors off the island are UNKNOWNS...I prefer it that way as I would always see "the known U.S. actor from other U.S. roles...I can't help it. Script writing should go back to the Moffat team of the BBC...they got some weird ideas.(which is good) also European History (just British is 4 times longer than history of the U.S.) if you went Euro then it is 7 times more longer[bigger events happened over that time period] Also there are the "lost records" that maybe could be rewritten & reused? if you need source material. AI "art" pisses me off so much. Like, if any of these people were actually artists, they'd understand why we're against it. But they aren't artists so they dont know what they dont know. And the fact that they dont know culminates in a ridiculous level of confidence in speaking on something they dont understand. And they call it "gatekeeping". LMAO No artists are keeping you from picking up a pencil and spending as much of your life learning the craft as we did. It isn't talent, its experience, knowledge, and skill acquired over YEARS of dedication and learning. Which they dont have, yet they think they have any authority to speak on the subject. They want all the benefits of having this skill without having to work for any of it. They dont love art for art's sake, otherwise they'd actually be making art themselves instead of telling a computer to do it for them. Really shows how they view and consume art. Not to mention, their ability to do ANY of this is solely reliant on all of these people they're stealing art (and jobs) from.

IMHO, the product of any AI (verbal or visual) seems to be a "picture" of whatever the individual software assumes is correct. Simple example> I asked Google assistant what the time was at the North Pole. Asking in a few different ways, all I ever got was the time in North Pole AK. (turns out it's GMT at THE North Pole since all the longitudes converge there) Or asking a program like Dall-E to design an art deco gas station, you get elements that are exaggerated or misplaced or devoid of the basic economy of design. If the user's experience is limited, the answers may seem more valid. But in a world of people who can be convinced their tax debt can be paid with iTunes cards, that's good enough.

​@@systematic101 No, in that scenario you would be starting from the ground up and applying your own artistic intention every step of the way. That is not stealing. Like you said you'd be "creating something of your own". Looking at other people's art to get inspiration is not the same whatsoever to literally taking pieces of all of that art and mashing it all together like an AI would. We say "nothing is original" when speaking of artwork because so much has been done over the centuries such that any one "idea" is not completely 100% original anymore. Being inspired by art around you isn't stealing, because you still know all of the fundamentals, you apply your knowledge in different ways, you decide on the composition, the color, the lighting, you create the peace out of nothing and incorporate that inspiration in your own artistic way, and THAT is something that AI does not do. AI gets fed (most often) stolen human art and it mashes it together much like photobashing (but again, without the artistic intent behind every decision) because there is no artistic decision making with AI like that. Sure, there is intention in the prompts that the person is feeding it, but there is no artistic intention with every step of the way like what was mentioned above. It isn't making something from the ground up like an artist would, it is making something out of hundreds of thousands of existing pieces. It's stealing on a large scale. And once again, there is no gatekeeping here. No artist is keeping anyone from picking up a brush or a pencil and spending hundreds of thousands of hours learning like we did. If anyone wants to get into art be my guest, get into art, it's very fulfilling even as a hobby. If anyone wants to use AI to steal from thousands of artists and pass it off as their own actual *work* to sell, stealing our jobs in the process, then they can piss right off.
