I love aviation. I am 14 years old, and sadly, the last time I have ever flown was when was 5. My parents don't want me to become a pilot because they think it is dangerous. I love to watch planes from a distance, fly RC planes and drones, and I love watching videos about airplanes. I hope I can make enough money to pay for flight school myself. This video was enough to motivate me towards my dream. Thank you Mentour! :)

8. Being able to sit still for hours doing nothing by scanning you're instruments. That is the one skill I do not have and was the main reason why I was turned down for the KLM flight academy (15 yearsa ago). But I still had my PPL (twin engine certified) and from time to time, I get to fly 'home' aircraft that are time-shared. So a pilot flies to Madrid for a a three week vacation, than I will join him and once he is on his destination, I fly the aircraft back, so the aircraft is available to other members of the time-share club. Sometimes I get to take a commercial flight. The thing I like about this, is that I get to fly a lot of different aircraft..

I funded my son all the way through his training to CPL/IR/ATPL theory/MCC/JOC with CTC and Simtech. Total cost GBP150000. He did not get an airline job straight way but after about 10 months was successful in getting a First Officer position with well known UK airline who also funded his type rating on A320/321. Don't let anyone kid you; you and/or your parents need to be aware that it is very expensive to train to be an airline pilot and although we like to believe that we live in a meritocracy you will not get very far without deep pockets. Enjoy!

Good video. Nice dose of reality to make it in this business. It’s not enough to have a CPL MEIR or even an ATPL. The soft skills he talks about are more important for an airline pilot than say a accountant. Rejection is hard for some especially when they spend $100k+ on training and can’t get a job and end up working minimum wage as a Uber driver.

@@MentourPilot An old video perhaps, but currently of more use to me than current ones. I’m curious about flying under normal conditions. The everyday for pilots and cabin crew rather than the disasters where the engines are exploding or the aircraft is being torn apart. Not that I would ever want to become a pilot-there are multiple reasons why, and I’m quite content as ground crew. But I’m curious and your channel is one of the most comprehensive sources of information.
