Ok, here's the deal with fruit cake. It has to be home made. THEN you drag out your run, baste the cake with rum, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, I mean no air. Store it in a dark cool spot ( my Mother used the top of a closet). Once a week, unwrap it, baste it in rim, rewrap. If the cake is getting too wet, let it dry some. You can do this for about a month or longer. That run makes that cake!

My gran always threw a Christmas tree party as she called it when I was little for my brother cousins and myself on Xmas eve (personally I think it was just an excuse for the adults to get drunk before the kids went to bed lol) every now and again she'd stop the music and shout prezzie time and give us all an extra gift we each ended up with at least 5 or more and there was 5 of us we were already going to be spoiled the next day. She also used to send me a bag of gifts when I was in the hospital each time so I had something to look forward to every day instead of being scared. She's gone now bless her but its a memory of her I treasure. its board games and films now and we are the ones getting drunk lol

Hey guys! So I have a somewhat crazy food fave that's been a family tradition during the holidays since I can remember. It might sound gross/weird whatever but I LOVE IT. Get a stalk of celery, a block of Philly Cream Cheese (let sit at room temperature) and dice up some Green Spanish Olives. Regular Green Olives will do too. Once the celery has been washed and dried, cut them to about 3-4" long and set aside. Mix the cream cheese and olives together (it's easier to do with a fork) then spread it on the celery and enjoy. U can make this the day before and leave in the fridge to let the flavors marry each other or go ahead and eat fresh. Either way it's DELICIOUS.

Those Queen Anne’s chocolate-covered cherries are among my all-time favorite sweets ever! 🍒 I don’t at all associate them with Christmas, though, as they’re available all year. And the Russel Stover (dark) chocolate-covered marshmallow “Santas” are my second favorites from your selection.🎅 I especially love their “eggs” around Easter, both marshmallows and creams. 🐣 Being first generation Cuban-Spanish American, what I most associate with Christmas, which is really to say Nochebuena, are Cuban _buñuelos,_ which you’ll need to look up because they’re a bit complicated to describe, and Spanish _turrón,_ but not the type you tried. I have three must-have _turrónes_ for Nochebuena: _turrón blando,_ or “soft turrón,” based on peanuts; _turrón de yema,_ or “egg-yolk turrón,” not toasted, which is basically Spanish marzipan; and a newfangled _turrón de mousse de chocolate al cointreau,_ or “chocolate mousse with cointreau turrón,” a divinity aptly expressed by the very name.

Growing up the drink of choice was Coquito. It is a Puerto Rican eggnog but it didn’t use eggs and was made of coconut milk.

I really like the chocolate covered cherries that have kirsch intstead of the sickly sweet syrup.

Mom always made our Christmas treats, fantasy fudge, pecan fudge, divinity, peanut butter cookies, toll house cookie, cream cheese fruit roll cookies, pumpkin roll, these were just a few we had about 4other cookies, caramel apples, popcorn balls. I make a lot of these but not the cream cheese cookies or the fudge. As a child I got the chocolate oranges...usually from aunt or uncle.

Omg all my memories! Cherry Spangler canes on the tree, those Royal Dansk cookies from Walgreens (still buy), don't remember the lifesaver books and those awful cherry cordials,no thank you. Real cordial cherries from The Cordial Cherry in Omaha,NE wonderful!! Love the Little Debbie Christmas cakes, and always wanted to try the fruit cake! Laughed so hard when Cam shoved it across the table! Never liked eggnog, but going to try Coquito this year! Reeses trees are the bomb (they kept the classic recipe to make these) and although the popcorn tins were never part of our Christmas tradition, I always found a way to get my hands on one even though they didn't taste that great. Then I discovered Vics popcorn tins, LOL Add the ribbon candy mix and a bowl of fresh shelled nuts and you had Christmas!!

Ever tried the Spiced Southern Comfort Eggnog? I do not like regular eggnog but I like the Spiced one.

My dad LOVES the Queen Anne chocolates. Its the only thing he asks for for Christmas. I get him a classic red box and a dark chocolate box every year.
