##ART TIP## Hi young artist here lol, and I'd like to share that using textures like screen tones, etc. the same way with the last 2 steps(?) as things like shadows and sometimes the flat colors can be a great thing as well! Using screen tone for shadows can help achieve a manga/comic vibe with a piece as long as it's executed well! I've seen people use textures like stars for galaxy representive paintings as blocks of colors or shadows help a ton to show what the piece is trying to present! I do a little thing where I do my shadows in one flat color, usually a dark brown-red (dried blood is the closest description) then I'd clip things like a lighter tone of the color or something with an entirely different hue! I'd then choose any blending setting that suits it, mess with opacity and other settings and voila! It makes a ton of stuff pop which is what I aim for alot! That's all for now lol, hope it helps! From your friendly stranger on KZbin, Baroo

I like that you said dried blood was the closest thing to compare it to... instead of a brick. 😂

Thank you so much for this video! I have a bad habit of always sticking to my comfort zone since I’ve always just been either too lazy or scared to experiment. I’ve always found texture to be fascinating in digital art and always wanted to find a way to implement in my art style. I’ll be sure to refer back to this video from time to time to help me find my stride in using more textures!
@beanming4 жыл бұрын
When I am shading, I smoothen out a little bit the edges so the texture of the brush kinda disappears cause I thought the shadow won't look natural. After watching this video, I realized that I think it will be better if I didn't smoothen it out if since originally I want a textured illustration hehe. Thanks a lot for this video! Certainly learned a lot from this! This will help me improve my artworks!

U can kind of do the noise technique in traditional drawing. I find that it can look quite similar to what you showcased in the video, when you draw with a colored pencil and gently go over some spots with a wiper. I must say i hate wipers and i usually dont use them but sometimes i like to go back into my colored pencil drawing with them bcs they Make the colour slightly lighter and the vibrancy changes. You should try it

I absolutely adore, how with all this texturing, your art looks, like it's straight out of a modern kids book! It's all so crisp and clean, but a little "messy" just enough to feel really aesthetically pleasing. -w-

This is so helpful! I just started out with art and don't have much knowldge of the programs. I've been enjoying the look of flats, or just very basic cell shading, but it often just looks way more clean than I want. I'vew been experimenting with different brushes, but still just felt like i wasn't getting enough texture and visual interest even tho the flat colours were what I wanted. Gonna try a bunch of these, the last one seems especially fun to me!

Being able to scroll through the layer modes in procreate is AMAZINGGGG. Having to click each one and seeing what they look like and pain-stakingly comparing them is such a hassle. When I'm able to save up money, I'm getting an iPad ASAP. I have a huge $600 tablet, but it's just too large to do anything with, and doesn't function unless it's hooked up to my computer, making it even less accessible. I still draw on it, of course, but it's always a hassle getting it set up. I thought bigger was better... and I was wrong. A tablet the size of a piece of paper is all you really need. Don't make the same mistake as me kids 😢

I almost do 4 of these 5 techniques all the times and I will start to do the last one (textures and colors brushes). I can suggest another one, put a gradient, with multiples colors, at low opacity with a good looking effect.
