On the one hand it gives me faith in German car industry again, because it’s a great EV with very very nice interior and just the right tech to make it interesting. Separates it from Tesla and Chinese competition in a premium way. But as a petrol head and owner of a Fiesta ST I would just miss the simplicity and involvement of oldschool ICE cars. There is just too much going on.

@zakzwijn8410 Жыл бұрын
What do you mean with simplicity? ICE cars are technically far more complicated than EV's. But yeah, EV's are more complex software wise.
@Verknechter Жыл бұрын
@@zakzwijn8410 Thought about this myself after writing my comment. And you are right, EVs can be more simple mechanically. Like an Renault Twizy for example (which can be a lot of fun). An E-Kart can also be fun. But what makes driving fun and engaging? This car is so big, heavy and comfortable and full of tech it encapsulates you too far away from basic driving experience and the elements. And because it is this way, it needs tech like fake sounddesign inside out, rev counter style gauges, flashy animations, rear wheel steering and ridiculous power to make it somewhat interesting to drive and to get around its size/weight flaws. Why not just let the car drive it self while playing racing games on VR where everything is fake? The illusion is still not good enough to substitute real engine sound, a mechanical gear shift. But yes modern ICE cars also suffer from this too because of more safety + environment regulations and the need for more luxury and tech. So maybe by simplicity i mean less stuff that i don't need or want to have fun while driving. But maybe that is also the reason i also drive motorbike. Its the essence of this. 🙂

And since my country is so underdeveloped with electric cars, most supermarkets offer free 0-80% fast charge just to make your weekly shoppings at their stores. (Basically u scan the receipt at the charger and boom, free) Let’s be serious, the EVs are going places and it really is a good money investment. No oil changes, no intakes to clean, no turbos that could break down in half and u’d spend a fortune to repair. And most electric cars come with a 8 year warranty on the battery. I believe u can get a 5 year car warranty + an 8 year battery warranty at the same time, so if u buy a brand new car, for at least 5 years u won’t need to do anything other than changing the brakes. So many people, so many opinions. I am pleased to have owned this car (including the performance package) for 3 months now. Before this, I drove a GT 53 AMG GT 4-door coupe. I still have it but it's definitely up for sale. I do agree that it looks better on the outside compared to the EQS. But trust me when I say I will never go back to a gasoline car. 761 horsepower with over 1000 Nm of torque. It certainly drives less sporty but how often do you do that on public roads anyway? Adding a bit of gas for an overtaking maneuver on the highway with this power is addictive. To be honest, it's actually quite strange that you have so much power available and can drive it with a regular driver's license. The reason I went for a 53 GT and not a V8 is because I don't want to constantly hear the noise from that engine. I also just like to listen to music without hearing the engine noise over it. With the GT, I could choose with a switch whether I want to activate that extra bit or not. Once you're in the EQS, you don't see the outside anymore, and the interior of this EQS with Hyperscreen makes up for everything. Add to that the comfort of the lovely seats and amazing audio sound, and you drive all day with a smile on your face. I do admit that I miss a bit that people give you a thumbs up, which I had with the 4-door GT.

I think the designers are not the problem. Look at the EQS concept - that‘s what they wanted. It‘s the business guys and engineers that then fuckednup that concept design into something that is nothing but aerodynamic. If you look at the Taycan it is soo close to the concept and I think Porsche values the designers a lot more and tries to make the design happen and doesn‘t force them to compromise so much. So don‘t fire the designers, but the business guys who do not give the designers any room to design something beautiful

It's not even in the same league... a G80 With a stage 2 tune would destroy it... probably destroy it standard in all honesty. And even that gt63s e performance... which is a terrible package to... it was destroyed by a m5 competition which was significantly underpowered... Mercedes have completely lost their way... they give us a 2.0 c63 a car many bought solely for the engine and sound... and a 4.0 v8 sclass ? With almost 800hp ? When did anyone buy a sclass for its sound ?
