nice video. I have a question for you... I have GL550 with Command 2.5, fiber out to Harman Kardon and Sirius radio. Command 2.5 has white double fakra but it doesn't connected to any wire. I didn't find any cables to connect. How the antenna connected to Head unit? Any idea? I found Sirius radio under second raw seats: fiber comes to it, double white and single blue fakra also connected to it.

Thank you for the video. 2006 ML350 key work at close range to the RF in the door handle only and not all the time. New key, new battery, all fuses are good. Don't want just to throw parts at the car. Do you think this is what I need to change next? Thank in advance and sorry if I'm repeating other questions.

Great video! I'm getting a "sound unavailable" on my '04 S500 radio screen. So I ordered a lollipop loop to bypass the nav, tele and amp. Turns out after bypassing amp the radio channels started working but still no sound. Ordered a replacement used amp. Same problem. I'm in Massachusetts, are you able to help me out. Thanks, Dino-

This is great. Is this is FM amplifier? All my other audio works fine. And does this video apply to the 2003 ML350. I've seen some videos that say the amp is in the cockpit on the driver's side under the carpet. But there have been a lot of changes in the newer ML's.

+Darnedifino this is the fm/sat amplifier. In some years the audio amplifier is in the cockpit. But not the antenna amplifier.

+Darnedifino It could be the fuse for the antenna amp. It could be the connections, check both ends (radio/amp) or a break in between. You can use a volt meter in continuity mode to see if the antenna cable has a short.

It could be a fob that is not transmitting a strong signal. Do you have multiple keys that you could test it with?

Hello, I retrofitted a audio 20 ntg 2.5 into my slk r171 preface lift model. Now I have problem with my radio reception. I checked the cables and it seems ok. In the star das I have antenna 1 open circuit fault. The antenna is connected with a y splitter in order to have both fm and am. The most strength station is 73db. Is that normal?? Do you have any idea???? Thank you

You may have a damaged cable between the radio and the splitter. Make sure that the antenna port on the radio is properly connected to the antenna cable. I would use a voltmeter in conductivity mode to check both sides of the cable. Most likely the connection end nearest the radio is damaged. It may have gotten damaged when taking out the old radio and putting in the current one. Good luck. Let me know what you find.

Hi, thank you for all your videos. Would replacing this help if I had poor Range on my key fob and the key fob only works if I hold it to the drivers door handle IR receiver? The car is a 2006 Mercedes ML500. Thanks in advance.

+Humza Mahomed yes this is one of the reasons your fob may have poor range. Before changing this part, check the fuse for this. Also check the connections on the preamp.

Hi, your video help me hughly; Thank you. My 2007 ML320 has a problem the with the radio. the radio works well in every aspect other than the radio all there is now is static. I have been adviced that the problem may be a borken coax where it passes into the tailgate. have you had a similar problem or know the fix? Gary

you will need to remove the radio from the dashboard and check to see if the antenna coax is connected. If it is connected I would disconnect the antenna wire and check the continuity in this wire (you will need a volt meter). If the wire is good (including ground) then you might want to check the connections on the antenna amplifier (see this video)

Re:2004 Ml500: My Navi is off course, although it does regognize my movements and my FM comes in occasionally but most of the time you can only hear it if u turn up volume to max. AM works fine and Navi voice works fine. My thought is to replace the entire system but if it's a fairly simple fix I would try that. Do u have any idea what caused this and what's the best repair. Thanks for your time:)

+Prisca Virgo If your antenna amplifier is not working properly you will experience your radio stations audio to have static and or not very good reception . I tend to buy my parts from online auction sites as long as the part numbers match. If not I go to the local dealership and get it there. To test your amplifier, start by making sure that your cables are connected properly. You should be able to hear stations coming in. If you disconnect the amplifier (pre-amplifier) If the amplifier is working the signal strength will drop. If it is not working there will be no change at all. You also need to check the voltage levels coming to the amplifier with a volt meter to make sure that it is getting power. If not your fuse may be blown. Good luck!

Update: in my case it was pin 13 white-ish wire.

@@iRepairAutos i did that's why i wrote the update as a reply here lol, it was pin 13 in my case white-ish wire. The FM reception was terrible before powering up the antenna booster now it is working very good. I installed a aftermarket dvd by the way

For a W163 (this video is a different model) the AMFM Amp is located in the same place (tailgate). Your problem is most likely going to be the coaxial antenna wire that breaks inside it's sheath from the stress of opening and closing the tailgate. (Right/passenger side)

+no comment I'm guessing that you have the harman kardon package. This system uses fiber optics to communicate with the amplifier. It might be cheaper to replace the amplifier with a good one (exact replacement) than trying to bypass (rewire) this closed system to work without it.

here is the part #: A2518706689 you can check the auction sites for one (probably cheaper than the dealer). How do you know the amp is dead. You should test to make sure that it is getting power. The fuse might be blown.
