I own a 1974 350 SLC imported to the states in the 70’s but what makes mine different is the manual transmission which is why I bought it. Just don’t know how rare it really is. I just know I never seen another one.

Since the 3500 cc V8 engine was the only after WWII V8 car engine of Mercedes-Benz which was as a standard attached to a manual gearbox during its entire run until 1979, an automatic gearbox could be ordered as an option. Until 1972, only the 4200 cc engines with automatic gearbox were delivered to the USA. So that is why it might be that rare to find one in the USA.

I'd like to thank-you for your review of this W107 450SLC. Until recently I drove my 1989 W124 300E but with well over 300,000KM I sold it to a nice young man as a second car for his wife to drive with their kids. I loved the 107 series cars even though I was just a kid when they came out, I would have been a 5 yr old! Now though I'd like to locate and restore a 350SLC to use as a weekend car, for trips and maybe even for our local cars and coffee meetings. I'm not sure they made a 300SLC but that straight six is possibly my favourite Mercedes-Benz engine. Anyway, I have "liked" and subscribed and look forward to watching more of your reviews. Take care!

I own a 71 350 slc for 27 or 28 years since I was 19 years old , it’s a beautiful car and drives so smooth, such style and build quality! I know the sl is more desirable but I love my slc

I totally understand your love for the SLC, although I used to own 2 R107 myself, the C107 has such a smooth ride because of the longer wheelbase.

@@DrivingwithGloves I’ve never driven an sl unfortunately but would love to compare , I just search that my 350 slc is only one of 14 left in the uk ! My mind is blown on this low number ! , great video my friend as I enjoyed it very much , cheers

Good review. I have a '73 SLC manual transmission but seeing how you drive this I think it would be better an automatic car. Thank you.
@DrivingwithGloves Жыл бұрын
Dear Stefano I really can't judge if the automatic is better than the manual. I think it is a matter of taste.

How do you have such a low amount of subs these videos are really good keep up the good work.
@DrivingwithGloves4 жыл бұрын
I am sorry for the poor sub titles. In the first videos I made them because some people asked me to make them. But for mw it was a huge investment of time. I noticed that the version without subtitles were less watched than the versions with subtitles. So I stopped doing it.

I've owned W126 and I love them too. But the C107 is so unique. Unusual to find cars with so much character combined with world class engineering. You don't very often get both.

Nice video. wich one is nowedays more desirable, the 280 or the 350 slc? If you go for a v8 engine, isn't it better to go straight away for the 450 than the 350? thanks for answer
@DrivingwithGloves3 жыл бұрын
Thatvis hard to answer. The SLC is not very high in price, it looks different for the R107 SL, because they are climbing. I used to own a 350 SL from 1971 and a 450 SL from 1973. But I could not sense a big difference between both of them. Perhaps because the 350 SL was in a better condition. I though that the 280 SLC came later. In the end it is up to the condition of the car and the preference of the buyer. I can only say that this 350 SLC was lovely to drive, but it was sold a long time ago.

I would like to know,why is it that the SLC, did not quite catch on like the R-107, or the sedans, like the W-116, W123,those are very popular, it is like the SLC, eventhough, it has the best of the sedan, and the sport coupe, you have two different, 2 engines,

@@EnriqueLopez-hb5jn yes you are absolutely right. It was a wonderful car to drive, even after almost 50 years since new. I remember though that as a child I adored the look of the R107 but I was not so fond about the looks of the C107. But from todays perspectiv it is an adorable car.

Such a shame a good video on a great subject was ruined by poor video and sound quality. If you’re going to do a video on great quality cars, you should do them justice by having the same ethos in your video production. Anything less is an insult to the makers of these great cars.
